Stone Water Pub offers a charming setting right in the heart of the Thousand Islands, with a beautiful riverside location, cozy interior, and genuinely friendly service. The food is great -- fresh, flavourful, and clearly made with care. It's the kind of place you want to like. That said, for the price, the portions feel underwhelming. The smashburger, while tasty, is about the size of a standard McDonald's cheeseburger, and a handful of fries just doesn't cut it at this price point. We stopped by here for lunch after our cruise nearby. It was walking distance from the dock and we figured we give it a try. I ordered the grilled chicken club with poutine. I only recall trying poutine when I was younger so I figured I'd give it another try. They have Poutine as a whole order, but I was glad to see that they have it as a side option. The food entries comes with a side of your choice (fries, house salad, sweet potato fries (+$2.99) , caesar salad (+$3.50), or poutine (+$3.50)). The portions of the food were huge, so you definitely get your bang for your buck here. Each dish was neatly placed and was so good! The bread from the club was crunchy yet soft and the chicken was moist. The ingredient felt very fresh! The poutine was a tad salty, but I think that is how poutine is? Since it's gravy and cheese (two salty ingredients). It was just the perfect amount to share with the family since we all just wanted a little bit to refresh our taste buds. My family also ordered the Chipotle Chicken Caesar Wrap with the house salad ($19.99); Fish and Chips ($19.99), and Grilled Chicken Club with the house salad ($19.99). The chipotle chicken caesar wrap was HUGE. My mom said it was very good and that it wasn't too overpowered with all the flavors and sauces. I was able to try a bite of her house salad and was also impressed by the fresh ingredients of the salad. You can tell it is a good salad when the salt actually crunches and does not just wilt there. The Fish and Chips were pretty good according to my brother in law. Crispy, not totally too greasy and a large piece on top. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our meal here in this small town. Arrived at 9:45 pm on a Saturday, with our 9 year old, so they couldn't seat us, as it was bar hours. The host offered us appetizers and fish and chips and invited us to sit at the outside tables. Our family enjoyed our Irish Nachos and Fish and Chips (and a couple of beers for us grown ups). Very tasty. Extra points for accommodating us. Earlier in the week you were striking out almost every time you went out to eat while visiting Niagara Falls but in Gananoque you've been having a much better time and it's your last night so you go with a local's recommendation for Stonewater Pub. Let's try to forget about all the houseflies that were bombarding you throughout the meal and concentrate on this amazing food. I've been a proud member of the 'Clean Plate Club' my entire life but I had to cry 'Uncle' because their Bangers & Mash platter was just too much. Unbelievably delicious with a nice mix of zing and heat with the sweetness of the apples and creamy mashed potatoes but my stomach was filled to capacity. Before leaving Canada we had to try their national dish of poutine and while Wikipedia tells me the dish originated in the 1950's I know this dish much better as 'Disco Fries' and that's been since at least the 1980's. (Although this might be the first time I had them while sober and not at 3 in the morning at some New Jersey diner.) Stonewater makes their own beer which was decent and definitely 'session-able' but probably not something that needs to be bottled and imported. Super cool waitress and a real "U.K." feel to the place - I was ready to start some soccer chants and get the hooligans riled up (but looked around only to find families eating and enjoying themselves). If I could give this place a 3.5, I would -- here's why. The wait time .... wow, we got our drinks in 5 minutes of our seating and received our food about 45 -55 mins later. I can't argue that the food was delicious, but after a VERY long wait without any explanation, GOOD food sometimes gets overlooked. My wife and I were on our way home to Napanee from Ottawa. We wanted lunch and got off at Gananoque where we found the Stonewater Pub. Glad we did. I had their meatloaf. Delicious. Good portion. Washed it down with a Steamwhistle. My wife had the fish and chips. She loved it. The cod was done right with a crispy coating but not too much. This pub is absolutely adorable! If you are in the Gananoque area this is a must visit. We dine quite frequently and have never been disappointed. The service of their staff is exceptional and they go above and beyond to show how much they value their customers. VERY good food. Our family of 4 ate here on a sunny Monday this summer. Everyone loved each of the plates and we shared them around. We did not get the whole experience as we did take out for our meal. I had the chicken club sandwich with sweet potato fries which I found had too much bread for my liking and not enough chicken. We came here for an early dinner after arriving in Gananoque from Toronto. We were starving and happy to see that there were many open seats. First of all this is a primo spot to dine, if you get the right table it overlooks the water and you have the ability to sit on a screened in porch which is gorgeous. It's like sitting outside because you get the warm and breeze but no bugs in your food, A+ there! We couldn't decide on what to pick because everything looks delicious. We decided to split a bunch of food, the perogy poutine, the watermelon feta salad, the potato nachos and the chicken fingers. Everything was excellnet, but a special shout out goes to the dublined nachos. Super thin nachos with sauteed onions, bacon, sour cream, cheese...awful for you but so delicious. The perogy poutine had mini perogies, with HUGE cheese curds and a nice tasty beef gravy, the chicken fingers were panko crusted and the size of my forearm. The watermelon salad was a perfect summer dish and compliments all the heavy cheese based things we had ordered :|. I had a Cesar, my mom a glass of wine, our bill came to about $80. Not bad at all! The service was well paced and pleasant. If we are back in this area I would definitely come back for some more good eats. read more

Lovely pub. Four of us enjoyed our meal before attending the Gananoque Playhouse. The citrus squash soup was excellent. We selected the Irish meat loaf, Quiche, Curry chicken pita, and the Islander geek salad. We enjoyed a pitcher of locally brewed Naughty Otter beer. Our waitress was very attentive even as the restaurant filled up. Parking is available on adjacent streets. Bar dining area is on the entry level, main dining is up stairs. A great little gem! My husband, two young kids and I were traveling though town on our summer road trip and decided to try this restaurant based off of yelp reviews. My 3yr old had the BLT soup of the day (I may have stollen a few bites haha), my 18m old had the chicken strips, husband had perogy poutine, and I had the farmer's field salad. I was super impressed with the salad. It was delicious, light and flavourful. I also appreciated that the kids supper was served first, without us asking. Fast and friendly service!
