Luckily we called ahead and found they were indeed open for takeout. I went with the classic poutine and my partner took the special poutine which had onions, peppers, and beef. We ordered through the phone and went inside to pick it up on arrival. Service was very prompt and friendly, and they were kind enough to give us two plastic glasses of water free of charge. The dining room was closed when we went but their patio had some picnic tables that they said we were free to use, which we really appreciated. The poutine was quite good, not too salty and not too mushy. The special poutine was tasty as well, from the few bites I tried. It wasn't extraordinary but it was more than decent, and reasonably cheap. I would go again.

It is called Restaurant Basile but the receipts for some strange reason show Arcade Basile. I'm not sure why they have Arcade in the name since I didn't see/hear any arcade machines inside but I didn't really look when I entered. When I entered, I was offered the option of eating outside facing the boardwalk or inside. It was a sunny and hot day so I opted to eat inside. I was offered a menu which I looked at to see what was available and what the prices were like however I had made my decision when I was outside since they had a placard at the entrance indicating their lunch specials. When the waitress returned, she asked me if I decided what I wanted. I mentioned that I would like to get the fish & chips lunch special advertised in the front (the price on the menu was a bit more expensive). I also opted to get a beer with my lunch. There were not a lot of people inside the restaurant on the day that I went and there were people sitting in the outside terrace facing the boardwalk. In terms of speed, I was a bit worried since I needed to be back at my office by a certain time but my fish & chips arrived in a decent amount of time. The short order cook brought me the ketchup for my fries without me asking for ketchup. The fish was huge. It was one piece and very large. I would have preferred the outside to be a bit more crispy/crunchy but it was crispy (and not soggy). The inside was very moist. The fries were very good and what could I say about the beer... it was Stella beer. The coleslaw was very good and the dill pickle was to my liking. During my meal, the waitress stopped by my table and asked me if everything was fine and I mentioned that it was. She also asked me if she could get me anything else close to the end of my meal and I mentioned that I could go for an extra cup of water which she refilled. Once I finished eating, I looked at my watch and needed to leave so I asked for my bill. I believe the owner provided me with the bill and I asked if they accepted credit cards since I wasn't sure if their machine was only for debit card purchases and she confirmed that it worked for both. I quickly paid and then left. I would rate this place as 3.5 stars which I've rounded up to 4.

My usual order is a panini with chicken, avocado, brie cheese, mustard, hummus, tomato and spinach. While the prices may seem just a bit high for some items, it is VERY worth it. For my sandwich, the amount of brie cheese they use alone would cost the amount of the sandwich. It is delicious and I am craving one as I type. The other place which was recommended to me to try was the cafeteria inside John Abbott College (but I decided not to go there for no particular reason). Cafe Twigs is located at McGill University's Macdonald Campus (on the West Island in Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue) in the Macdonald Stewart building. It is a small cafe which serves lunch/breakfast food along with the usual snacks. Lunch starts at 11:00am (breakfast offerings finish at that time). For lunch, I decided to get one of their sandwiches as opposed to one of their hot meal plates. Their sandwiches are named after people (I'm assuming named after the people who work at this place). The sandwiches are pre-made and when I ordered it, I was asked if I wanted it toasted to which I answered yes. The person placed it into one of these grill machines while I waited and looked at their board hanging on the wall. I saw that they had chili so I decided to order a large chili as well. The sandwich was made ready in a few minutes and I grabbed my chili and sandwich which were placed on the counter and headed to the cash to pay (and get my spoon and napkins). They accepted credit cards and their machine was one of the touch machines so went very smoothly. They didn't ask me if I wanted my bill and immediately threw it in the waste basket. I found the prices to be fair or slightly expensive for what I got. It wasn't what I would consider to be inexpensive nor was it what I would consider to be overly expensive. For my meal, it was a little less than $13.00 which didn't include a drink. As a basis of comparison, the large vegetable chili here was ~$5.00 and it is smaller than a Wendy's large chili and the Wendy's chili includes meat. There were a few seats which were empty so I had my lunch there. This place is like a university cafeteria so most of the customers are university students and the seats get taken up pretty fast at lunch time. The sandwich that I had was pretty good. It was called the "T.J" and the chili was also very good for a vegetable only chili (I normally prefer a meat chili).
