For a supermarket in a densely populated city, this store is relatively good compared to the other supermarkets in the area. However, I come from the suburbs where the Stop & Shop supermarkets are on another scale. Nonetheless, I do come here for items such as juices and packaged foods. When there are sales for produce such as corn, this place gets pretty popular as it can be the lowest price in the area. read more

This is my second time coming to this store. So far I've had a great experience people are friendly nice. Fruits and vegetables here are always fresh and the food is always on point. Most customers are friendly and some are curious as to why you are shopping here hence, I'm not bothered by that I just shop and look for deals for the best bargain. The only pet peeve that I have is that the lines are always crazy long. It's a problem that could be solved but, staff in the store doesn't think. To solve the problem open up more lines to get the flow going which will solve the problem of overcrowding and customers getting agitated. Otherwise I have no other problem with this store. Once my shopping list has reached a limit and my kitchen are missing the ingredients, I step into stop&shop. My biggest complain are the carts. I get so many things and I spend more time looking for carts than for my things on the list. Okay, I wrote a long review about how long the lines are, and that the Self-Checkout lines didn't accept cash--except that they do! I had read a couple of 'credit/debit only' signs, but those applied to only a couple of the registers. So, four stars for the organic/healthy aisle, and one star omitted because I hate stores where 90% of the sales require a store club card. I will likely get the card, but they'll be sorry they let me join a club--like all the other clubs before them. read more

This place is big and convenient.. 2 big private parking lots: one on the roof and one on outside. The outside parking lot is filled with carts you can take into the store then take out of the store. Less carrying heavy weights :) the store itself is very enormous which means more variety in products you can choose and buy. All of their products I came across are fresh. There is also a huge amount of employees so the lines move extra quick. The place also has a machine where you can exchange coins for paper money which is really useful for me because I have jars filled with coins at home. The last time I came and did that I received $25 in paper money and bought groceries for my house. That is way better than it sitting around in a jar.. I don't know any other place that does that so it is really useful. Definitely recommend checking the place out :) read more

Brooklyn's Best Supermarket: Across the board this is the best supermarket I have ever shopped in...and it is more than a supermarket. The space is laid out well and easy to navigate, the staff is courteous and they really try to accommodate, shelves are always stocked, and within each product you'll find a wide array of brands to choose from. The bakery overflows with delicious fresh breads, cakes, pies and pastries which I find to be just as good as the products from the "real" bakeries. But.... what impresses me most about Stop & Shop is that they always have the product I am searching for when I can't find it anywhere else. The one time that they didn't, they actually ordered it for me and telephoned me when it came in. I hope they never go away! read more

I was always hearinr about stop & shop, but was very sceptical about trying something new ... Living a healthy lifestyle is expensive & stressful ... Living a weightlifters life is even more expensive and stressful! My first encounter with stop and shop was what had me hooked ... I live a block away from 2 other supermarkets & i would rather travel to stop and shop for my groceries . The produce is well organized , delicious & affordable !!!! ; i consume alot of meats througout the day and paying for meat can get frustrating , especially when you know its over priced and not great quality ... Better prices elsewhere. Their weekly "sales" are a joke. Do the math and you will see many of the items aren't really sales. Yes, they do have good sales at times. (The only reason they are getting 2 stars.) The rudest and most unhappy staff, as a whole, I have ever experienced. Rudest shoppers. Finding a shopping cart wastes a lot of time. I have had to go to the roof parking lot to get a cart. Where is the employee that's supposed to collect them? Also, shoppers, if you push the cart past the invisible line, it locks the wheels making the cart useless for others. There are signs posted. The self check out lines are a joke. Always problems, shoppers use them without knowing how to use them. Only 1 staff member to help with ALL the issues on the self check outs. Tried coming here at 6:00am during the week. Cashier was so bad, there was a line!!! Shopping here is truly a horrible experience....no matter what day or what time. They must be losing a lot of business because they shortened their hours...again. read more

Now that I'm sans POS car I'm stuck with shopping at my neighborhood Stop & Shop. This Stop & Shop started out being a welcomed addition to a place where supermarkets had been surprisingly lacking: now, if you can get your meats, dairy, and baked goods elsewhere, please do. The pluses are that this is a real, super-Super Stop & Shop - from organic and natural products to the very best in processed foods; you can find it (including "ethnic" foods); there's ample parking, either on the street, in the ground level lot, or the rooftop parking deck; when SS&S has a sale, it's a pretty damn deep sale; it's easy to drag back my purchases to the house sans POS car; it's open really late (like midnight late). The cons? Well, do you like seeing fistfights break out because of closed lanes, line-cutting, or just because? Do you like having the front entrances blocked by wagons, people, people with wagons, wagons with people, shit, more shit, and double-more shit? Do you like a dirty storefront with an even sketchier appearance inside? Do you like your produce section to look like nobody gives a rat's ass if the food is actually fresh? Then WHY, pray tell, aren't you shopping at this Stop & Shop? I've had LI friends come and be impressed with the largesse (yes, I'm using the word wholly incorrectly) of the place, and also witness the skirmishes that happen between the old Russian people, the new Russian people, the old people not from Russia, the new people you don't know even want to know, and the staff. I've often wondered if the way S&S has set up their entrance wouldn't be considered a fire code violation. And I miss having my car, because this place was a last-to-last resort for one-stop grocery and household item shopping, when there were FAR better choices available at Gateway, in Gerritsen, or anywhere not called S&S. Now, I can only bemoan my 1st-world misery at having to be a more frequent customer here. But please, get your produce from the store that's literally down the block. Get your milk, there, too. And don't forget to pack your boxing gloves. read more

The store is very big, bright and roomy. They have a nice selection of stuff. The only problem is their staff. The staff is HORRIBLE! They speak so rudely to customers and they are not helpful at all. The lines are usually ridiculously long. They have self check out lanes which would be great, however, people who cannot speak English use them and then hold up the entire line. Their parking lot is always insanely packed but luckily they have additional parking on the roof. Also, there are never any shopping carts around... they are all on the roof with the parking. So, if you come in through the main entrance (instead of the entrance on the roof) good luck finding a cart! read more

I was many months receiving the circular in the mail. then it was stop and all coupons are now missed and I can not get these coupons if I go to the store. I dread coming here, but it's the only thing around like it. It's a shame because there are many nice people working here, but not in the deli. At its busiest, there is one person working the deli taking orders while 20 people are waiting. Today, with plenty of people waiting, the one guy decides to just walk away, leaving the customers to wonder what was happening. Here's what was happening, he decided to sweep the floor in the back. And instead of coming back afterwards, he just decided to hang out and joke around with his buddies. As more and more customers poured in to wait in front of the deli, a few of us tried to flag someone down. After a while, many of us gave up and left. I tried ordering at the deli kiosk, knowing orders from here are even more unreliable . About 30 minutes later I get the text that my order is ready to be picked up. No surprise there, it's wrong. Yea, I've worked in retail, and I know that people can be terrible, but this is your job, and being rude to your customer? Why? Just why? Its enough to deserve one star, everything else is fine. The closest we have to a suburban-scale supermarket; the attraction is the wide selection of items under one roof. You do pay for that convenience, though. Apart from some good sales, prices are pretty high for this area. The store was nicely renovated a few years back, and is bright and clean. Customer service is appalling. Shockingly, nobody knows the inventory. They can tell you what aisle something would be in if they have it, but they can't tell you whether they have it. Employees are uniformly surly. Then there's the self-checkout fiasco. There's always a problem with the machines, and just because the message says help is on the way doesn't mean anyone's coming anytime soon. So the line grows. I get most of my food these days from local ethnic places, which are cheaper and where I don't expect any service (in English). But I'm glad to have S&S as a backup. read more

I am not a Yelp-er but I had to come on here to tell you about the experience I had yesterday. Like a lot of the people who've lived in the neighborhood for years, I've been to this supermarket when it was Finest, Edwards and now Stop N Shop. I vary between here, Aldi's & Waldbaum's .. depending on the sales, freshness of products and availability of items. I've never had a problem here, customer service or otherwise. Yesterday around 4pm, my mom and I came to pick up some things. We were with my 4 year old daughter. First we had trouble finding a cart, both my mom and I were looking around for one. So I finally found one and started shopping. When we were done, we went on the 12 items or less line. Mind you, it was not really busy for a Sunday afternoon. So I was third to be served and the cashier Cherie looked at my cart, looked up at the sign for "12 items or less" and looked back at me. I said "I know" and stayed on the line. She was ringing up the third customer in front of me and stopped to remind me that the line is for "12 items or less" ... I told her my mom is paying for her stuff and I was paying for mine. I also said "I know how to count". With that, she blinks her light for a manager and when the manager Fabrizio got there, I asked him what the problem was .. since I was still 2 customers away. She told him that I was giving her an attitude ... what???? I told her "I know" and "I can count" and all of a sudden I am having an attitude?? I wasn't even at the point of checkout yet!! He said "I'll take care of you, no problem". I don't know what her problem was. You are in the business of customer service, you got offended that I told you that I can count?? We had to put all of our items in one cart because there were no carts to be found. Plus, why should we roll two carts around since we were a family shopping together?? I had .. - 3 packages of English muffins cause it was buy one get 2 free - 3 Maxwell coffee ... 3 for $7 - 2 bags of Kettle cooked Jalapeno chips - 1 package of Oreos - 4 cans of beans Wow .. I was one over .. because if I didn't spend $25, I wasn't going to buy the Oreos .. which were $1.88 if I spent $25. Either way, one item over 12 is such a big deal that you needed to warn me 3 customers beforehand? My mom had .. - 1 quart of milk - 1 gallon of milk - 1 mozz cheese - 1 bottle of juice - 1 loaf of bread - 1 carton of eggs - 1 fruit chews I was so appalled that she did that and had to have to manager take over checking out because "I have an attitude". I left my products there and I didn't buy anything. My mom bought her stuff though. On top of that, I was on line in front of this Chinese lady and her daughter. (I am Chinese too so I am not discriminating or stereotyping). They started to move to the side of us and was going to cut us because they had 5 items and felt that we had more. I mean, hello?? .. feeling that you have the correct number of items .. does that justify you going ahead of me? Between the cashier Cherie, her manager Fabrizio and the mother/daughter .. I felt like I was having a weird nightmare lol. I called up and explained to the manager Carlos and he said that she shouldn't have done that and that he'll talk to her. Ugh .. whatever. I understand there are difficult customers out there and people that really don't read or choose not to care that a checkout line says "12 items or less". My mom and I were very clear that we were on a 12 items or less line. First, I don't know why the cashier Cherie felt the need to confront me while the items were still in my cart and we were still waiting to put the items on the belt. Were my "I know" and "I can count" really that bad that warrants you to call for a manager to help you check out? Why didn't the manager stand by to witness the check out instead of babying her and relieve her of checking the rest of the existing customer, the one in front of us and my mom? You are in the business of CUSTOMER SERVICE. To my surprise, it was not busy at all in the store yesterday. 5-6 registers opened with an average of 3-4 customers per line. You couldn't handle my one extra item? I don't know what the problem was ... seriously. read more

Store has improved greatly this month. In Feb. I was going to look for a new supermarket because this one had really had gone downhill. Happy to report that as of yesterday all shelves are fully stocked and lots of help at registers!!!! Thank goodness all is better. read more

I come here sometimes to shop for lip balms because it's one of my hobbies to collect them.Last time I was here I found A LOT of new lip balms.But the price was a little overprice.3 lip balms for $20 I mean come on!This time I came they didn't even restock.They had the same stuff with maybe 2-3 new stuff.I was searching for the lip balms for half an hour because they hid it so well!But I just got 2 lip balms and some pop tarts so they were excused.But then I went to check out and the lines were huge so I decided to try self help.Boy, was I wrong.The thing stopped working and they said for us to wait for an employe to come over.They took FOREVER but they finally came and the women just sighed loudly and swiped her card and walked away without even saying a word.So we payed $14 for a pop tart box and 2 lip balms.I may be wrong but I don't think that's a reasonable price. read more

This is a great store and I do 95% of my shopping there. The meat is always fresh and I usually find what I'm looking for. It has a very wide variety of products and runs a lot of sales. On the downside sometimes the good sale items are out of stock and the lines may be a little bit long. I use the self check out sometimes but I try to avoid it because the person attending is usually rude or not paying attention. The way the employees dress and present themselves could be a little bit more professional too. The entrance/exit to the store is way too small! read more

Horrible place. The workers (most of them) are incompetent. I've been charged for other people's food behind me and yes, the divider was up. When I said that it wasn't my food, I was reprimanded and it took a whole 15 minutes for her to call someone over and figure out how to take off the other person's food. The lines are always long but there are never very many people in them. It's the same five to ten people waiting for up to 45 minutes. The Stop & Shop franchise needs to come in and give them adequate training. It's upsetting because Stop & Shop is affordable but I won't be coming back to this location ever again. There are never carts and most of the workers are rude, curse, or just aren't sure what to do. A training course for all would be helpful. There are other great Stop & Shops around that should offer a program for them. read more

This is a HUGE supermarket, and you can pretty much find most products here. The produce is pretty shabby, especially considering all the green grocers in those Chinese shops on Avenue U and Sheepshead bay, but standard supermarket products can be found here readily. The prices are a little on the higher side most of the time (compared to Key Food, etc), but the BIGGEST problem I have with this place is their plastic bags. They seem to be made of tissue paper, and are designed to last only until you get to the car. Frankly, it seems like these bags will disintegrate on contact with anything. read more

This is by far the worst grocery store I've ever been to. Dirty, check. Rude employees and customers, check. Leaking roof, check. Terrible produce, check. Having to wonder the parking lot for a shopping cart, check. Long checkouts no matter what day or time, check. Empty shelves, check. Terribly dirty entry way, check. More garbage scattered around the parking lot then 2 trash cans could hold, check. If this sound nice this store is for you! Like the previous posts said... The store is huge, it's bright, but it's damn dirty and disorganized. The selection is great but to deal with all of the things that I hate, is it worth it? For being a part of a large chain, I suprised the corporate office has turned a blind eye to this location. I've complained to their corporate office but haven't see any improvement. I'm checking with Fresh Direct weekly to see if they have expanded their delivery to my address. They, on the other hand, are fantastic! It sounds like I might have to wait a few more weeks for Fresh Direct. As soon as they can deliver my groceries, Stop and Shop won't be a problem for me any more. read more

this morning i have tried calling the store to speak with customer service, 1st time left on hold and when someone did pick up they hung up on the call....i tried a 2nd time and the same thing happened again....i just tried a 3rd time and no one answers the phone....worst customer service ever!!!!! read more

Customer service is atrocious. The deli guys are mega slow. They see a LONG line but they don't care! Really, it takes 10 mins to give me a lb of ham and scoop some potato salad? They should stop eating the product and get a-stepping to lose that huge belly fat that they all have. They look at me like I just woke them from their nap. The rotisserie chicken section is no better. No one knows when the chicken is supposed to come out! There's a line of ppl waiting and asking but NO ONE seems to know the answer or want to get off their a*s to find out! There are many things unmarked and if you ask someone they'll say, "I'll find out for you." You end up waiting 10 mins and NO ONE comes back. Apparently, the worker's motto here is to do the least possible. Cashiers are just as bad. All are grumpy and slow. Seems like they're all in a competition on who could the least amount of work. Yeah... we know you're getting paid by the hour and you hate your life and your job but you still need to smile at your customers. Its free to smile. Where is management to boost morale? Tons of ppl looking for jobs. If these current employees don't want to raise the bar than get some ppl who are hungry and they will. Watch out for the bums who hang around the parking lot. They're "helpful" in wanting to put your groceries in the car but they're eyeing your purse or looking for the right moment to rob you. You tell them NO and they harass you. There's security only inside the store so you're left to fend for yourself. This place cares nothing about the customer. read more
