I haven't been to a Kings in a while. And it was my first time at this location but it did not disappoint. Tidy and fully stocked. Overall, it was a great experience. The fruits, veggies, and flowers were all super fresh. One constructive feedback is their organic veggies area. Some of the foods were displayed in a confusing way. Additionally, it would be great to see more organic produce options. The parking lot is large and spacious, so it's an easy in and out experience. read more

Stay away from the cheese counter recently bought several cheeses and when my husband opened them the next day for a dinner there was green mold on both the muenster and kerrygold cheese that is wrapped by kings. I don't bother complaining because the woman who takes care of the cheeses is a rude woman for years and acts snobby when you ask for a cheese she doesn't have. All the workers here complain all the time - don't stand my by the fish counter if the union rep is there you will hear alot of trash talk. Acme has ruined this store. read more

I'm in there. I went in there on a Monday morning and there was one cashier. When I asked the customer service desk, they said the other cashier was taking a break. This is at 10 o'clock Monday morning. Any other supermarket, including ShopRite or Stop & Shop would have had at least five cashiers by 10 o'clock. Not only this Kings prices are twice as much money. They give you no service. I had to run out to my car for bags by the time I got back the customer behind me was pushing to move ahead. I prefer to shop Sunday morning at 9am. I am an early person. Walk into other local supermarkets and the produce section is packed with product. Walk into Kings and you will find an empty section. You have to wait until 11am to shop. Please do not ask someone in the produce department to get you something that is not out. It's as if you are asking them to go to the moon to look. I also understand you are trying to fill in items when patrons are also trying to shop, there is no need to huff and puff and make comments under their breath but loud enough for you to hear. It is fine, I was actually a daily customer at the store, now I drive 10 extra minutes to ShopRite, the employees gladly look in back for produce, the place is filled (and continues to be filled) as early as 8am. I remember Kings as being a fantastic store with amazing customer service. I am surprised this store can stay open with the employees they have. The only part of the store I have ever had success in is the seafood department. Excellent quality and the staff is knowledgeable and friendly. read more

This location is very clean and well kept. Everything looked fresh, and delicious. Many various items, and cooked foods. Friendly staff available for assistance. Parking lot located on site, but not a huge lot. Either way, this location is not busy. You can be in and out without a fuss. The prices are on the higher end. I am a frequent shopper at Kings and since the Pandemic and the sales of their corporation to Acme, the quality of of food had gone way down hill. It's true that the management is glad to refund your money for a spoiled food product but who wants to drive 15 miles to return a bad batch of cheese, or eggs when the problem could simply be managed better by the supermarket. I guess the the new system is "You had better be grateful for what you can get, and it it ain't that great". I admit that most of there products are Okay, but it's no where in comparison to great supermarkets like Fairway or Zabar's. read more

Need better training for customer service, had a rain check for eggs before the shortage and was finally able to use but customer service deducted $1 digital coupon before the rain check price, which normally should be deducted after the rain check price but lady insisted that was the way it is done and she was also the one who gave me the rain check and complained to me that customers are so needy. Unfortunately, the carton had broken eggs and I returned to try to exchange but no eggs left, I asked customer service if I could get rain check until eggs come back in stock and was told "Yes", but then after processing the return of the damage eggs, he said he can only give rain check for current price (rain check are hand written here), so why say "yes" when I asked only to tell me that rain check is at current price, same guy who didn't understand digital cpn was not working last time I did self check-out. Instead, she made this unpleasant face to look at and lazily put our groceries in bags and threw them at us as if it wasn't food, but some kind of garbage. Clean inside, large variety to choose from, staff is always friendly, loads of parking, and its conveniently located in center of town. I have been to several Kings in the area and this Kings is no different. The nice thing I like about Kings is that they have some of the rarest foods and freshest produce available. I especially love their fresh fish and meats, but, their international aisle is also pretty cool. Their bakery section is also quite nice. I usually don't write reviews because I never have time, always running and trying to be the best mommy I possibly can for my 16 month old baby girl... but this time I really had enough and I must write about my horrible experience. I used to live close by this supermarket and sometimes run in because they have great produce although very pricey. I was never fond of their customer service but since I had a baby I'm always trying to find healthier and better food choices for her so when I found out that they carried a local brand of milk that she adores I figured I'll give it a shot even thought it is now located so far from where I live. What a huge mistake! Horrible experience! Customer service was non existent! I tried to smile with one of the workers while searching for some greens and fresh fruit, (which yes looked amazing and wonderfully organized but hugely overpriced!) while my baby was getting fussy and loud and I was ignored completely! I understand the problem with COVID and how stressed everyone is, believe me, I work in retail too and it's not easy, and yes scary, but I don't take it on customers! The small crowd shopping around wasn't that wonderful either! So I picked up a few items really quick, mind you I ended up not buying the milk I went in for in the first place because it seemed old, and was expiring soon, and trying to run out of this nightmare as soon as possible, but once I reached checked out I was stock there for a while! It was not busy at all, online there was only one person in front of me, and then some issue happened with a current sale and I waited forever while other customers just moved between lines and passed nonchalantly in front of me and left way before I was able to reach the register. Mind you by now my baby was pissed and getting loud trying to tell me she wants to go home but no one cared. Not the workers not the customers! I tried to tell a cashier passing by that I was waiting for a long time, and she just showed me her back and walked away. The only positive thing was the cashier that finally helped me, a young kid which was very professional and finally just nice! (Thank you!) I therefore, have a suggestion for whoever will be reading this review: if you are a wealthy and snobbish shopper who enjoys to be ignored while searching for groceries, who does not care about others and loves to spend the extra money then please go there! I was in King's today after a long hiatus. The store is very clean but the prices for some of the items I bought were crazy. Frozen Cauliflower Pizza is normally about $8 at ShopRite but here it was $11.99. A few other items I looked at were very high as well. Some of the store made prepared foods looked anemic. All I can say that on a Saturday morning they were quiet whereas ShopRite or Cafasso's Fairway in Ft. Lee would be jammed. My favorite local grocery store. Always great vegetables and fruit. Mike in the butcher department is the best. Always friendly and suggests the perfect cooking methods and temperatures. The ladies at the courtesy counter can be a bit of a downer at times but with some of the other customers attitudes...I can't always blame them. Around the holidays it can be crazy crowded and cramped...but what grocery store around here isn't? Kings hands down beats Stop and Shop and A & P on quality. Sure the prices are a bit higher, but you know what? I go to Kings because of the massive quality difference. And I will pay more for it. My frustration with Kings is that leaving there with just two bags of everyday groceries can you run near $100. While their prepared foods is better than the average supermarket and the store is clean and well-stocked, the same packaged items I buy at the Stop and Shop in Emerson will generally run $1 more here per item, from Kraft cheese sticks to Simply Lemonade and Mott's juices to Applewood Farms deli meats and hot dogs. I'm being specific because these are not obscure items that I have to go out of my way to get and yet. I go to Emerson instead to do that, because there's a premium on the average grocery items at Kings. That said, I'm thrilled Stop and Shop and Whole Foods are both coming to Closter within the year, because I will have both options - to shop for everyday items and things I really want to pay a premium for - in one location, without having to shop around. read more

Good shopping experience with good / fresh grocery. Their meats and seafood were great and fresh... highly recommended. Update on my own review: I added one more star for a very pleasant interaction with the staff. I got a Kings' apple pie (which was my favorite) for our Thanksgiving evening. The pie was under-baked and tasted awful. None of my guest took a second bite. I took the pie back to Kings the next day with only about 40% left in the box and asked for exchange. The staff was friendly and professional. They gave me the refund immediately and apologize for the problem. Good service! read more

This is likely the best supermarket in the area. They have a great selection of high quality items and they come with high prices. The meat and fish counters are both excellent. They often have chicken from local farms. The prepared foods are also very good and they have a nice cheese selection. Fruit and veggies are always really fresh and high quality, but more expensive than other area supermarkets. Though the higher prices here seem to be in direct relation to the local high-end real estate market, I still like this store for its variety, cleanliness, and friendly staff. And while I'll continue shopping here, it definitely won't be at the butcher department. For the second time in about a month, I picked up a 2 lb. sealed package of ground beef only to return home to find the inner core had already turned to brownish grey. The first time I didn't notice until I began cooking it, but the second time, I opened the package immediately at home, which was less than 15 minutes after purchase & transported in an iced "cooler bag" only to find the core browner than the first time. This time it was immediately placed back into my refrigerator in a vacuum sealed bag. I returned the next day and showed it to a staffer at the service desk. Though she was very sympathetic & willing to return my purchase price, she did try to simply give me a replacement first. I declined. But while she processed my refund, she attempted to (after telling me she was not a butcher) "educate" me that meat sometimes does that (turns brown) very quickly between store & home on very hot days. REALLY?? Maybe if it's left out on the engine hood during the drive home. Or I had stopped several times, or lived say an hour away. But not within 15 minutes, while in a "cooler bag" with other chilled items. No way! This meat had turned already in the store. As I told her; my late grandfather was a gourmet chef & butcher. He warned me to beware of a then, common trick cheap stores did that he called: "rolling-in the meat." He said most common with grounded beef that was a day or two old, a worker would pack fresher meat around the older stock to make a larger, fresher looking package. And from what I've heard from my restaurant friends, this is still in play today. Please don't insult my intelligence by blaming this on a warm day! Besides, if it were to turn brown quickly due to higher temps, the outer layer would be the first to change. NOT the inner core! That's just basic chemistry. But enough of this rant, I have pictures that will back me up. Again, I'll be back, just not for "fresh" meat products. read more

I love this grocery store. Always neat & clean, with an amazing selection of items from local and far-away producers. The soups, donuts, and rye bread are especially delicious. My one negative experience was - I once purchased parmesan cheese that had gone bad before the expiration date; returned it the next day without any problems (although the young employee there did ask if I wanted to switch for the other container of cheese - there were only 2; no way!). This area has experienced several widespread power outages in the past few years, and Kings has brought in generators to keep it operating through the rough times. This place does offer some decent produce and food, however, it is run just like any other supermarket. It is small, cramped and the clientele tend to be stuck up soccer moms fully pumped with botox and all...If you ever go into the back room to use their restroom you will notice how dirty the food preparation areas are....I would rather save my money shop elsewhere. read more

Locals consider this the higher quality supermarket of the area but it leaves a lot to be desired. The main problem is it is too small and therefore, the selection of everyday items is very limited. It's more expensive than most of the other supermarkets but the lines do move quicker. They recently changed their shopping bags to a much thinner material so they are more likely to tear; I recommend double bagging everything. The supposed "rare" high-quality items they sell are really not that special. The clerks in the deli department often seem cranky, and the "bakery" is all smoke and mirrors...they bake nothing at this Kings and all baked goods are delivered frozen according to one of the workers there. read more
