a produce section of a grocery store
    Michaela P.

Had to check out lidl being it just opened a couple days ago. I think there are some tough critics out there because I hadn't heard great things. But let me preface people are comparing it to a ShopRite which it absolutely is not. So yes if you are expecting to go in and have everything a regular supermarket has you will be disappointed. I am a frequent shopper at Aldi, so I knew what to expect. I was very pleased and the store certainly delivered on all the fronts. A huge bonus for me was to see they had a sanitizing station both inside and outside the store near the shopping carts. AND I was greeted several times on my way in by staff. The isles were well laid out and made complete sense. Upon entering you find the fresh produce and then you move into meat and on the outskirts specialty cheeses, tapas, hummus etc. I was excited about their bakery as that is the biggest thing I miss when shopping at Aldi. Got myself some piping hot croissants. They have their basic isles in the middle (you know what I'm referring to) and frozen towards the back. What I absolutely love which I 100% expected are all are all the random items that you find. For example they have a whole section with deep fryers, sweatshirts, laundry baskets, drinking glasses and so forth. Now again this isn't a regular supermarket where you have a deli counter and fresh Fish market. But I was definitely able to get some fun things like European desserts and chocolate that I can't find elsewhere. Also a couple of interesting frozen meals for when I don't feel like cooking. Also took advantage of several weekly specials so my bill wasn't as steep as it could have been. Prices are generally cheaper than a Wegmans and their veggies seemed to be cheaper than most supermarkets. Will be back when I'm looking for niche fun items.

I ventured over to Lidl after a friend recommended checking it out. The store has a massive amount of space to accommodate shoppers without feeling like you're being crowded while browsing. When walking in, you're immediately met with a small selection of plants and adorable succulent gardens. There are some fantastic deals all throughout the store from produce to meat. They also carry speciality items for gluten-free and vegan shoppers, especially in the frozen section. There are also LIDL brand items available, which is great if you're looking to try new items/flavors of things like chips. Overall, Lidl is a great place to stop for some deals and bargain finds.

Love love love this portioned salmon! My favorite!

Serves its purpose. Meat is always fresh. Nothing negative to say about the place. Plenty of parking.

When it's time to sell any bags with the limited quantity, they need to relax and still treat the customers the nice way. One day, I didn't know they were selling pastel color mini bags when I went to shop, I didn't need the bags but I knew my friend wanted them so I stopped by the desk to ask what is the limit and I was told 4. And I had to text my friend to see what colors she wanted, but was not able to reach her on time. So I continued to shop and when she finally replied, I went back to the desk and I said one of each color, the gentleman gave me a nasty look with mean voice saying didn't you already come? Limit is 4 so you can't get them. Oh my, chill out man. I explained the whole situation and he reluctantly gave them to me but the voice and look of this man left me a scar that's going to remain and be remembered every time I come to this branch to shop. Why are they so mean and sensitive. I don't care how important it is to give the customer the bags with the limit 4, still customers have to be treated with respect. Other trader joe's branches staffs are so nice even allowing dogs. This isn't the first time I felt unpleasant. There was few ladies by the plant section who are very unpleasant. Last time I brought my hypoallergenic dog to the store to buy milk (bc i cant leave my dog in the car by herself) and the lady came and said to me I must leave .. having the dog in the cart is so unsanitary!!!!! {hello lady, who calls my pet dirty,,, it wasn't like I left my 10 lb dog on the cart, I left dog in her own car seat and left the car seat in the cart. } Anyway, westwood need to improve and be nicer to people ( I do feel like it may be racial discrimination which is against the law in this day and age.)

You don't think they saw the home when they were slicing it. Seriously guys I show up every week and this is what I get. I tried to be understanding that the pizza couldn't be well done but it's really undercooked. And to give any customer a pizza with a hole in it is shameful. You know you saw the home when you were slicing it. Why would you give it to a customer. And it was cold. Definitively not the pizzas they were pulling from the oven. This had been sitting around. I waited over hour after placing the order to leave for the store. Then another 40 minutes in the store and this is what they served me. So disappointed in you guys. This is really bad service. Walk into the store and all that can be said is "it's a lot": colorful and filled with decorations and products. The bakery, prepared foods and produce areas in particular have a good selection of items. The hot bar was a bit sparse on a Saturday afternoon but I have enjoyed their eggplant parm, meatballs and salad. I do also like the idea of their selection of homemade pasta. Their bakery has a lot of things from muffins to pies and cakes; I'm personally not the biggest fan of dry cookies and cannoli type items but they are busy for sure. They also have regular grocery store items but usually not great deals. I see this not as a regular shopping experiment but as an "every once in awhile if I want something they have" type thing. I also dread coming here because of the parking lot; a contributing factor is that when I do think of coming it's at a busy time and the lot is right off of 17N. It's next to a 24 hour fitness and Houlihans and Chik-fil-a.

This past weekend, we had a chance to experience something a little different -- a private event my cousin hosted there for his 30th birthday -- and it was fantastic. The event was a seated, sit-down dinner at the market, which isn't something they typically do, but they executed it really well. The evening started with passed appetizers (all delicious, as expected) and a table full of charcuterie. For dinner, my cousin opted for a seated "steak sampling" experience -- almost Brazilian steakhouse-style -- featuring tastings of five different cuts. There was also shrimp scampi served family-style, along with sides like roasted potatoes. Even with varying preferences for steak doneness across the group, they did an impressive job accommodating everyone. Huge props to the B&M team for pulling off something outside their usual offerings so seamlessly. This was my first time in the market itself, and it looked great -- clearly a great destination for quality meats and prepared foods. If I lived closer, I'd absolutely be a regular and would use them for catering for myself. Looking forward to more events with their food in the future!

Exceptional Catering for Our Dinner!…read more I recently used B&M Market in Park Ridge to cater a Dinner for 10, and I can confidently say they overdelivered on every level. From the ordering process to the presentation to the flavors, everything was absolutely top-notch. I also have to give a huge shoutout to the owner, Jon, who was phenomenal to work with from start to finish. Jon took the time to help me build out the perfect menu, offered thoughtful suggestions, and made the entire process smooth and stress-free. His responsiveness and attention to detail really set B&M apart, you can tell he genuinely cares about his customers and takes pride in the food his team puts out. We kicked off the night with a fantastic spread of hors d'oeuvres. The sushi platter was fresh and beautifully presented, and the homemade guacamole with warm, crispy tortilla chips was a standout. The apple smoked bacon in honey chipotle sauce disappeared almost instantly; smoky, sweet, and addictive. The spinach & artichoke puffs were flaky and flavorful, and the bacon-wrapped shrimp tasted like something you'd get at a high-end restaurant. For entrees, everything arrived well-seasoned, and perfectly portioned along with serving/heating instructions. The Bell & Evans chicken parmesan in vodka sauce was a crowd favorite, tender, not overly breaded, and the sauce was rich without being heavy. The prime all-natural skirt steak with scallion sauce was the star. Cooked beautifully and packed with flavor. The pasta dishes, 4-cheese baked ziti and the orecchiette with Italian sausage, spinach, and light red sauce, were both excellent and tasted homemade. The Caesar salad, steamed string beans, and cheesy garlic bread rounded out the meal perfectly. Dessert was a refreshing fresh fruit salad, which was a great balance after the hearty main courses. What impressed me most was the consistency. Every single item was fresh, thoughtfully prepared, and clearly made with high-quality ingredients. Combined with Jon's personal involvement and guidance, the experience was exceptional from beginning to end. If you're hosting an event of any size, B&M Market should be at the top of your list. They helped make our dinner a hit, and I'll absolutely be using them again.

This location is much easier to shop at and far less crowded, which makes for a more pleasant experience. However, the store layout feels a bit off--some aisles seem to be missing, and instead, certain items are placed on end caps, making it harder to find things. While it's still a good option for Whole Foods shoppers, the organization could be improved to make navigation more intuitive.
