The pharmacist team at this Stop & Shop is one of the best in the state and they truly go above and beyond for their customers. We would like to recognize and sincerely thank our Pharmacist, Debbie Mason and District Pharmacy Manager, John Zoldak for going above and beyond in helping our 95-year-old mother when her prescription was denied due to the recall of her store-brand glucometer. When the issue could not initially be resolved, the District Pharmacy Manager personally stepped in, making multiple phone calls and advocating tirelessly on our mother's behalf until the prescription was ultimately approved. Their actions truly exemplify compassion, dedication, and patient-focused care. Our pharmacist Debbie has become far more than someone who simply fills prescriptions -- she has been a trusted healthcare partner for our family. We are extremely grateful for the commitment, kindness, and exceptional level of care they consistently show to loyal customers like our mom. Staff is always friendly. The manager and assistant manager go out of their way to help customers! Produce is generally good quality. It would be great if they had more pre packaged meals and variety/ Asian/ Mexican/ Italian- like what a stew Leonard's offers- but other than that- it's always a pleasant shopping experience read more

We've got to learn to leave the house sooner!! So as not to be rushing at the last minute to check things off of the grocery list before the store closes. Signing up for the rewards program is easy and offers up many discounts, we saved about 1/6th of our bill this way. Money is money. I'm not sure if they double coupons like their competitor ShopRite. They offer a variety of fresh produce and organic foods. I personally felt the meat department was lacking.. BUT I was reminded it was the END of the night.. oh yeah heh *blush*. So we'll have to try that again when it's daylight. They also have a floral area and I think a Pharmacy. The isles are wide enough without being huge. And all of the staff is very helpful if you seek assistance. I'm not yet sure which grocery store will be my store of choice but we shall see in the future =) Oh and a tip, at the end of the night the left door (facing the building) is locked so you probably want to park near the other door, especially if it's raining. read more

The cashiers and costumers service either have poor customer service skills or just are uncomfortable with people who are not fair skinned. Every time I go in to the cashier, there is never "good morning " " did you find everything ok?". They are quiet, talk to other people around them while they ring up my items. I could see this establishment not doing well at all just by how they train there staff. Get with the Times stop and shop their are other types of people in this world that look different. Horrible customer service. Came here to pick up cash a friend sent to me so I could pick up some items for her and the lady was RUDE (her name is Lynn). She told me to wait because she had to finish what she was doing and she proceeded to check things off a "list". I guess customer experience isn't important. So I waited, 8 min to be exact... While other employees walk up asking questions. Save yourself the hassle and do not shop here... Another day, I come in again to pick up cash and before I could even say anything the lady says "Machine is down, go down the street". No eye contact, no hello. I am absolutely fed up with shopping here. Never returning. This place is trash. Not only does it need a total face lift, but the produce is absolutely atrocious. Rotten fruit and veggies as far as the eye can see on any given day. It's disgusting how much of the produce is wasted because it's not even edible. read more

No complaints, which is about the best compliment I can give a main-line grocery store. Store was clean, well stocked, and had a reasonably typical layout. I saw a decent meat counter and other signs it is a decent food option. We did find the self checkout machine a little fussier than normal about acknowledging a product ws there, but the staff were on it quickly without huffing or puffing like you see at some larger chains. I see no reason not to recommend this location, although I will note there is a lot of vacant space in this shopping center that feels a little sketchy. read more

They have a very good selection of organic groceries/produce and they frequently have my favorite items on sale. I don't find them more expensive. I do prefer my food without pesticides/GMOs, and Stop & Shop has a good selection as opposed to the Monroe Shop Rite where I can barely find anything decent. read more

I would never shop here for my major food shopping needs. With their prices, I can re-finance my house. I go here strictly for 1 or 2 items that I forgot from my major shopping elsewhere. The staff is nice and are available if needed so that's a plus. So why the 3 out of 5 stars. Simple....the self-checkout machines. There are 4 of them there and they are NEVER all open at once. Kinda defeats the point of having them. You can always count on 2 of them working and 1 of the 2 does not accept cash. This is the case from the time they open until they close, rain or shine, busy or dead, weekend or weekday. Please see for yourself. It's quite the sight. Long lines and the self checkout lines are half available. Had this been rectified years ago, it would have earned a modest 4 or 5 out of 5. read more

Staff at front end not very friendly, always seems to be only 1 register open at lunch-time along with a self-service checkout. Store is clean and stocked, but going frequently between 11: am and 1:pm it's really amazing how the registers are not managed better. read more

Very high priced they have stupid ways of putting ethnic or international foods. they put Mexican next to Italian are they saying the most customers are Italian and Mexicans??? i had to go way over next few isle to get Thai or Asian foods or kosher why not have the Mexican foods in the same dam isle. not enough variety in produce they put 5 - 6$ PRE PACKAGED veggies as you come into the produce section to say hello to the customers for impulse buying big deal i couldn't find reg scallions nope only organic ok so i tried to think they would put garlic with the onion section like most store do NOPE they put the loose heads of garlic so far away and hidden it forces you to buy what you do find on a tiny tiny shelf with crushed garlic in jars you find a sleeve of garlic which i wont use to quick so yea i felt compelled to get it as im making soup/ now I ask for lemon grass NOPE ok so i go to monroe market for that then ok so i ask for fish sauce they have clam sauce oyster sauce adn an asian section but no fish sauce a basic like sesame oil NOPE go fish.. so i look at chicken one brand organic is near deli where the other brands way down the isle far away why hm.. they push organic as its better yea but also high priced. and it the reg chicken good priced NOPE i see it in most store 99 - 199 a pound. ok so not here for meats either. and do they have any sales on breads or coffee NOPE o ok there's a tiny bread clearance section so high priced still while these packages are stale crumpled and should only be a 99 cents like at other stores. my god. I am middle class i cant even afford this store. i guess they don't want people to shop here. no one is around to ask for help .. the isles were crowded with carts for in loading do it at night. they have much need to design the store in an approximate use way. lack of variety in all depts even soups veggies Asian i saw no goya section in the Mexican section or other isles no great sales its still summer ice cream is very high here the produce needs to be at the way other end of store .. when you come in near the bank side the main most customers come in this way and they don't want pharmacy or shampoos as soon as you come in you get over whelmed with fragrance smells to give you a head ache.. I feel they need better customer service, more registers open, a new manager and a better design for the store anything I could find I would've done better at a gas station or a mom and pop shop for the same high price . it took forever to get out of the lines a nightmare for you and your wallet read more

In 2018, it's a shame that Monroe only has two supermarkets and both are so mediocre. Shop Rite is no bargain either. The produce and organic section is pitiful. Half of the produce looks like it's on it's last leg. I had purchased organic tomatoes in cellophane. When I got home the tomatoes had mold on them that I couldn't see in the packaging. At $4.99, this is unacceptable. It happened twice, so I will not waste my money again. The produce manager takes no pride in making sure everything is fresh and in good condition. Their inventory is very very basic. The way they shelve raw produce for salad; endive, lettuces, peppers, etc., are sitting in dirty black plastic bins in direct contact. Really a turn off. The should take a tip from Monroe Farm. They have very fresh produce and it's beautifully presented. Unfortunately, nothing organic. This area desperately needs Trader Joe's or something comparable. Stop & Shop and Shop Rite are stuck in the 70's. read more

If I could give this place negative stars I would . My first problem and why I am writing this . On Christmas Eve 2017 my 78 year old mother who is handicapped went to this stop and shop to pick up a a few things . This was at 4pm at 5pm when she was leaving she found that the side door closest to her car was locked . Keep in mind she's 78 and has problems walking . It's visible her posture is a mess . The store employee refused to open the door and let her out . Forcing her to walk all the way around the building and across a dark parking lot . This is not the first time they have done this to her . The employees lock this door without notice to the customers on a daily basis. There is no sign posted as to when the doors will be closed and in regards to the handicapped this is unacceptable. I myself stopped shopping here because of the poor attitudes of the store employees and drive the 20minutes to Washingtonville . read more

Grocery items here are generally more expensive than the Shop Rite up the road on 17 M and the staff at the help desk is crabby (though cashiers at checkout are generally quite lovely). When there is enough time to run farther up the street, I would definitely choose another store. read more

Horrid store. It seems that only time the store is properly stocked is when the BIG GUYS from corporate are coming to visit. Then the meats are fresh and stocked to the hilt. Other times like today there was 4 section of ground chicken and 4 of ground turkey. Not a piglet of pork ground. I asked one of the butchers and she said NOT TODAY!. OK I will drive across town to Shoprite. The only pork tha could be ground at home with a food processor was dated sell by today. Oh yea a dollar off for end of life pork. Typical of this store 50% of the time what ever meat you are looking for is out. Do they ask can we grind some for you. NOPE Shoprite if they don't have any out they will ask you. Hominy does not exist in the store at all. Not even dried Pazole corn? The manager runs around like crazy and then is gone for days at a time it seems. SPends all his time with the employees and never talks to customers. Produce is more like COMPOST. I have never seen produce that looks so bad all the time. One produce guy wears the same shirt every day he pulls it from his car and puts it on as he arrives and he dresses as if he is a homeless person coming to work. I would not touch any produce that he touches. Moldy strawberries, blueberrys that the bottom of the containers need a shave. Give me Albertsons, Tom Thumb, Randells in Texas any day. Clean stores year round not just when management appears on announced visits. Believe me you can tell when they are coming to Stop Shop in Monroe. things start to happen. Cleaning and filled shelves and a complete meat market. Poof they are gone so is the food. Might I suggest surprise visits?? Duh No competition even tho SHoprite is in same town. Big store there OLD and run down but stocked. I see the manager there every morning helping stock every day he is there. No young guy a veteran manager but the stores here look like the are still in the 70's goes with a old burnt out town of Monroe. even the path 17m has more car repair shops and not one dealer anymore near the center except a BMW storage lot. read more
