With limited grocery options in the area, Stop and Shop provides the best selection of general needs. Features organic section, deli, seafood, bakery, pharmacy, etc. I looked hard to find local fare... Vermont Cabot cheese and New York Boarshead products were as close as I found. There is a fairly good selection of Italian tomato and marinated items to support the local Italian population. Prices seemed a little higher than what I am used to paying. A preferred customer card is required for sale prices. The store is conveniently close to the Appalachian trail so hikers are able to refuel. The surrounding Berkshire mountains make an ideal setting for the store. read more

The store is clean and appealing and a relief to shop there. Parking is good ! The staff is kind and efficient. And the music is enchanting! I would shop there every time i stop there . Win win on all range selection of produce with dozens of kinds of milk to choose from !!! read more

While traveling through North Adams we needed to stretch our legs as well as grab some snacks. When we walked in the store we were excited to see the sales that they were having. The store had a ton of sugar free items as well as a great deli section. The staff here was polite and helpful. The floral arraignments they sold were amazing as well. Overall, we were happy to stop in at this store. The bathrooms were clean, the food choices were great, and the staff took great care of us when we bugged them for information on where items were. read more

They fixed the problem with the smell and have had all products available that were advertised. Great store for our small town.

We found everything we were looking for. The prices were reasonable. There were no lines at the checkout. It wasn't as esthetically appealing layout wise as Market 32. The lady at the counter was pleasant and gave us the discount card. read more

This store has a good selection/variety, but I tend to avoid it mostly because I can get pretty much anything they have elsewhere for less. The other, significant, reason I avoid it is because I always seem to get the same cashier. She's been there for AT LEAST 15 years and usually (if not always) works nights. I can be in the best of moods when I walk in the door, but the sour look on her face and the fact that she never fails to be unfriendly at best or full-on rude at worst will guarantee that I leave the store in a worse mood than when I entered it. How in the world have they either not retrained her or replaced her in all these years? She's NEVER been even remotely helpful and when the app wasn't reflecting prices advertised in the store (via digital coupons) her only answer was 'there's nothing I can do, I'm not a tech person'. I showed her exactly what the app was NOT doing on my phone and she just shrugged and said she couldn't help me. Does the management not empower/train their employees to provide even the most basic customer service?? Was there really no manager anywhere in the store that she could've called for assistance?! I don't usually let these things get to me because you never know what someone is dealing with in their personal life, but when the service from this same cashier is consistently bad and deters me from shopping there it goes far beyond someone having an off day. This is clearly a reflection of management and I'll now avoid going here at all costs. I'd sooner drive an hour to Trader Joe's. To the cashier...if you hate your job so much that you can't even fake being at least polite, I'd suggest trying to find a job you at least partly enjoy (or one where you don't have to deal with people). The staff at Big Y is consistently friendly and extremely helpful, I've never left there feeling like I don't want to return. As much as I like to avoid the cavernous aisles at Walmart, even the staff there is consistently friendlier. read more

Very sad, because their florist is the best (Hence, at least two stars- I usually buy six bouquets a month) however, despite shopping here for years- after tonight, I will no longer go to Stop & Shop. Around 9:00 I went in to get some groceries. I loaded up my cart, and went to check out only to find there was not one cashier working. I was shocked that customers were being forced to go to the new self scan section. I was already shopping in a rush because my disabled husband was waiting in the car. All of the scanners were being used while customers waited for them to free up... Clearly, plenty of business to allow for at least one or two cashiers. I won't even get into what a nightmare the rest of this experience was like while I tried to manage heavy cases of water, etc. on a little teeny space and things into thin bags with no space- computer beeping at me to put down on another small space before putting in the cart. With my winter coat getting in the way and too much time invested already, I looked at my many produce items and decided I couldn't spend a second more in this store and I left empty handed. If Stop and Shop is so greedy it would rather have the customers do all the handling, cashiering, bagging, etc., to avoid paying a cashier- I'm DONE with them! Never going back. I will take a little longer ride to Hannaford in Bennington where customers are treated with respect and they don't play games with prices. What's next? Having custimers stock their own shelves and clean the bath rooms?
