Was shopping as usual at this location besides other same company's in the area and I usually go in the mornings to shop up and down each aisle to get the best price for my dollars as most of the shoppers! I check and compare prices from other spots and if on Sale and worth my dollars I will buy it! I check the meat department and the Fish department plus prices for bruised or blemished fruits and vegetables that are .99cents a pound that I can prepare the same day or next... I also check for the Yellow Tags which shows it's 50% of the Price. My question and consumer concern IS!!! If the Item let's say Normally $8.99 a pound but this week was on Sale for $5.99 a pound.....if it did not sell by the Freshness Date.....they place a 50% Yellow price label to sell it fast....BUT I FOUND OUT TODAY ITS NOT 50% off as it's Printed because what their practice is from what I was explained by the person behind the Fish Counter : IS THAT THEY BASE THE REGULAR PRICE BEFORE THE SALE EVEN THOUGH THE SALE PRICE IS LISTED AND TOOK 50% OFF THE REGULAR PRICE AND "NOT" on the SALE PRICE WHICH IS ON THE LABEL! So my CONUNDRUM IS..... IS IT REALLY 50% OFF ? I Think Not! If you're going to put a Yellow Label of 50% off and a PRODUCT THATS ALREADY ON SALE, IT SHOULD BE 50% OFF THE SALE PRICE AND NOT WHAT IT WAS BEFORE THE SALE... Hello fellow New Englanders! I am new to town, previously from Michigan, and I have already had two experiences, great experiences may I add, at this Stop and Shop. A young man at the customer service desk, named Dillion, I think, was the most kind, generous person I have ever experienced at a convenience store. Everyone, if you happen to meet Dillion, please let him know he is very sweet and that he should keep doing what he's doing, because he is going places. All the other employee's were great!! Everyone is helpful and kindhearted. The food is also very good. There is everything from chips, to high end dining food. First off, when you buy online, they double charge you. They hold your money for one week before releasing it. Second, they are racist. Every time a black person goes to self checkout, the floor attendant/cashier comes running. Their could be 4 Caucasians scanning their food and usually no attendant. But as soon as a black person comes to scan their food, the attendant appears out of nowhere. I've even said, "Oh, I've been waiting for you because, I knew, as soon. As you see a black person, you would rush right over. I've seen it with all other attendants do it to all black people. Cameras Zoom on us too. read more

Fresh produce is important to me, so their produce department is a big reason I go. Also smaller bags and containers If a store has only large containers, it doesn't work. It's just me, so I end up having to throw too much out. I do have a problem with the deli dept., and the small meat window (where the best meat is.) The store closes at 10;00. They used to start shutting down at 9:30. I understand a half hour to clean all the slicers and scales, but now the're shutting down by 8;30 or sooner. (Unless the one girl is in the dept. She'll keep it open until about 9;30!) There are multiple people in the dept, so 8:30 just sounds lazy to me. One question that hasn't got to do with this, but it's the only forum I have. WHY, is there a double door where you come in with just your carraige, but when you leave with a cart loaded with what- ever you bought, and maybe a kid or two, you have to navigate through one narrow door??! Hi S&S! I hate to be a negative Nancy but I won't go to your store now and will shop at Shaw's. You've reduced the number of check outs staffed by people instead of self-serve significantly. When I go, I usually have a big order. A little luxury is having someone ring and bag my order. I know times are changing and cost cutting is essential, but I don't think it's fair to your workers to cut their hours, or to me to take loads of extra time weighing, scanning bagging and leaving mad. I bought Russell Drivers Sugar Free Pecan Delight on sale today. It didn't taste right and was hard to bite into. After the 2nd bite, I looked at the expiration date and was astounded to see it'd expired 6 months ago. I can understand a day or two, I get it, but 6 MONTHS??? Pretty disgusting. This location has sunk in ratings and I personally have started to avoid it. I've been mistreated by a staff member in checkout, it always seems to be something with this person, and one time I was bothered enough that I actually called the store after leaving. Evidently I'm not the only person to call about her like I did because they knew who it was. Its hard to avoid someone when they approach you. Doesnt matter that I'm polite and quiet. It'd be nice to be able to shop without checking the dates on everything. I started shopping at Whole Foods most of the time because there really isn't that much difference in pricing anymore. Graffiti on the baby changing station in the men's room? Are you serious? That, and several other things caught my eye in this store. The first was actually a really good loss-leader sale price on some produce. That was followed by a lot of not so good regular prices on the rest of the inventory. The floors are dirty. The rugs are dirty. Checkout is cluttered and unpleasant. When I left the store, I saw about 6 employees standing around outside ignoring the shopping carts that needed to be collected. It feels like the employees in this store just don't care that much. And I don't understand why, given that there is a Shaw's right across the street, as in direct competition. But I guess that's why folks in the Boston area show a lot more loyalty to stores like Market Basket than Stop & Shop (also why Market Basket is now near the top of the Consumer Reports magazine grocery store comparisons, and Stop & Shop is a lot closer to the bottom). read more

Watch your pennies, some items here are significantly cheaper than Walmart (next door) where as some items here, even with the coupon card can cost more than other places. They are starting to get more organic items now, but the produce can REALLY screw you in prices and WAY overcharge you. * If you like to eat scallions buy them in Quincy at the Chinese markets instead. * Onions you can often get better and cheaper at Trader Joe's. Also, for better fresh produce try the local Farmer's Market instead. ** They DO HAVE Clausen PICKLES!!!! :D And, they also have those blocks of aged cheddar cheese dipped in wax! Not clean, crappy customer service, low-life employees, long long deli lines, bad produce despite the ads on TV saying that's all changed, no it hasn't. A genuine s**thole. Only reason I go is it's the closest, although if I want a decent experience I'll drive to the Braintree store. Folks should know that S&S year after year comes in near the bottom of the list in national and regional consumer surveys for all the things you would rate a grocery store for. Like 98 out of 100. This S&S store isn't bad but it isn't that great either. It caters to the basic needs of local crowd. I live a few minutes down the street so i prefer this store to get my basic culinary items or day to day cooking needs. The store is pretty clean and well maintained. This location always has sales on nearly everything. I never had a problem with their customer service. It seems to be crowded during weekends but thats so typical of a grocery store. I once got the flower arrangements from this location and no complaints with the flowers. BTW this location introduced a Deli and cheese section for quick takeaways. The only buzzkill is that this location doesn't have a beer and wine section. I wish they would add it to their future list. Also no stop&shop gas station in the premises. Overall caters to the basic needs but nothing fancy!! read more

After tonight's experience I will NEVER come to this stop n shop again and will do everything I possibly can to NEVER shop at stop n shop again. Not only is the store absolutely filthy, understaffed, low in inventory but they literally do not order inventory so I cannot purchase the items I need after weeks and weeks! MULTIPLE not on sale items have been out of stock for over 3 weeks and instead whomever is stocking the items is just putting other items in their place to make it look like the shelf is full. This is a chronic issue and I've had it. I can get over the fact that I have to wait in line for 15 minutes every time I come here during NON peak hours, like tonight is a Monday night at 10pm--and I ALWAYS have to wait in line for 10+ minutes as there is never more than 2-3 registers open--and I only shop after 8pm. And I can usually get over the fact that the store is dirty, but tonight it was unfathomable. The freezers were leaking and there were wet floor signs with wads of soaked paper towels all over the floor as well as puddles of water in the middle of the aisle that you had to avoid. In order to keep the food in the store cold they had the AC set beyond what is acceptable. I couldn't figure out why until I got to the freezer section. I was wearing jeans and sweatshirt and I was losing feeling in my hands. Legitimately. People were talking about it as we went down every aisle. Lastly and probably most importantly the majority of produce looks unsellable. And the meat is a close second. Barely wrapped and leaking as well. With respect to all I think this place needs to be shut down, cleaned up and reopened. read more

I really hate to say it, but this place has declined considerably within the last few years or so. While the main point of shopping at Stop&Shop is to purchase groceries, for me, there are several options and even for Weymouth area residents, both Shaw's and Walmart are adjacent to this store, so there is plenty of competition around. So, you would choose the best of options. This store was redone a few years ago, but is small, and lacking maintenance, merchandise and upkeep in general. The store has many issues including expired foods, expired sale signs (which are just egregious, people think they are getting a sale price that actually doesn't ring up at the register), leaking ceiling tiles, broken clocks, broken self scan registers, and several other deficiencies in between. Staff are friendly and helpful; however, it seems that they don't respond to customer concerns and just simply do not care. My local store responds to every issue within days and doesn't just continue to let things get worse and worse. The store is small, the clientele is sketchy, and the overall experience here is far subpar. While the Braintree location is older, it's larger, has more inventory, and is better well kept, as is the Stop&Shop in Hingham (one of my favorite locations). The Weymouth location is far subpar and should be avoided at all costs. 1 star. I don't suggest this place in any manner. read more

My wife and l went shopping at our local Weymouth Stop&Shop and this was our experience we visited the supermarket around 8 AM Monday Feb. 1st 2021 to be honest the vegetables at 8:10 AM was all boxed up where l had to look for parsley in these boxes no biggie the store was only open for 40 minutes according to the their business hours .. So the wife asked if we could go finish the rest of our grocery shopping until they are done placing everything else out of the boxes 30 minutes later we went right back to the vegetable section and nothing changed so we decided to just go and pay for our grocery shopping so l walked up to the Cashier and had (Patty) ready to assist us pay for everything so l was trying to be nice by greeting her as well as her colleague who l guess was responsible for packing customers groceries in bags unfortunately none of them greeted me back instead they stood silent next l had (patty) asking me if l had a stop&shop card so l told her no and asked her if she can put one in for me she immediately did and then l asked if she can brake a $10 bill she then asked how do l want them l then told her a 5$ bill and 5 ones now back to the woman who was helping (patty) l didn't catch her name because she didn't have a name tag..And is the reason why l'm actually putting the effort of reviewing my terrible visit to our local Stop&Shop she started helping (patty)bagging 2 bags of our groceries then she yelled at patty that she was going to help another cashier leaving us all alone to do our own bagging pretty rude but l can understand in some circumstances they can be short handed but NO this wasn't the case and the reason l say that is because the moment we walked away from (Patty's) Cashier she immediately went right back to help the customer behind us now l just clearly realized that wasn't very welcomed to her supermarket not to mention l truly felt like l was a victim of Ra.ism Yes you read that correctly and it's Sad l know..l guess if you want to be treated properly and not feel unwelcome just being 1 of many people of color then the Weymouth Stop & Shop isn't the supermarket that will provide the hospitality and generosity you would like to get .. l truly regret siding with Stop&Shop employees when they went on strike last year knowing that this is how l would be treated..l can now say this with confidence :(yes my wife and l will never return to this unfriendly supermarket)...Cheers ! read more

I shop here a lot...I will admit I've seen much better S&S's but this one is only 5 minutes from my house. As for the employees, they're friendly enough...as they do see me quite a bit. But the more I think about the store in comparison to the one in Braintree or Hingham the more I see why there average rating is 1-2 stars. Just had the worst experience here. Cashier tried to cheat me out of my cash back by giving me $1 instead of the cash amount printed on my receipt. She tried playing dumb, saying oh it only allows you to get this much back, and then finally blaming the machine when the manager came over. The thing is, if she was stealing from me I'd be upset but I'd get over it. I specifically told her I'm only buying this gum so that I could get cash back to give to the kids who were fundraising outside. Manager comes over and the employee fakes like the machine was broken (SHE HANDED ME A $1 BILL, not the machines fault!). Manager takes one look at the receipt and gives me my correct change. I will never shop here again due to the complete lack of integrity shown by employees. read more

New manager is super young I felt like I was dealing with my 15 year old son. He used to be security for stop n shop . Omg has no idea what he is doing doesn't listen well at all talks you in circles saying same thing over and over till you get frustrated and leave. Coupons and app SUCKS I leave every time after shopping for 2 hours with kids under 6 with a migraine and always end up the next day back in there because things rang in wrong price and 30.00 or more in coupons never come off. There system sucks and they DONT value there customers at all. Sad because as a mom is rather go to a store I'm used to and know we're eveything is so I can get in and out but after 20 years with the last 3 just a shot show they just lost a really good customer. read more

I struggled w one or 2 stars I went with 2 because I actually think there are some great employees here but they suffer because they don't have enough help. The deli is always at least a 20 min wait and there are never more than 3 registers open. I will not use self check out- I want someone on the clock to ring me up and bag my groceries. The bathrooms are disgusting the store is somewhat clean. I do my weekly shop @ Stopy in Hingham(because its cleaner & has more workers) but I pick up a few things at the Weymouth store during the week. I do see the managers bagging & helping they should I am sure they get nice bonuses but pls hire more deli help & cashiers. read more

"Convenient for some stuff ... but really annoying." Whoa. Bad Stop and Shop. Although this is convenient to us (2.5 miles), I think I prefer the Grove Street one in Braintree better (only a mile extra). They usually close one side (the Walmart / non-pharmacy side) around 9pm even though they are open until 11pm Monday through Saturdays. Check out is a disaster, with over half of the registers as self-service. Selection is much poorer than the Braintree or North Quincy one. (For instance, go look for boneless chicken thighs or green Thai peppers ... regularly you won't find them.) There are a half dozen times I've just put everything back where I found them and drove to Braintree since the Weymouth location is missing a ton of stuff. Customer service is either lazy or unfriendly. The manager is a nice guy however. People also don't care about their carriages, leaving them in the parking lot. I wasn't impressed. This store is a bit more "ghetto" (despite it being in the suburbs) ... or at least lower class or lower quality. They've made a few errors before (e.g., Cheap Chicken Fridays is supposed to be $5, not the regular card price of $5.99) and unfortunately their customer service closes at 8pm and often before. Or they refuse to help me. So more than once out of frustration I've gone over to the Braintree Grove Street store. I'd rather not give them 1 star -- I reserve that for true scammers. Your better bet: Go to Braintree Stop and Shop or North Quincy. read more

This used to be a great store. Two years ago, the store had a steady supply of bags both paper and plastic with no shortages. There were also enough carriages for customers even with the store at full capacity. Nowadays, I have went multiple times with the store only having paper bags, or nothing at all. Carriages are also literally leaving the store as some people decide it's okay to take them home. More carriages need to be ordered. How does corporate let this happen? Many people I know had liked the store a lot but all I hear now is complaints about a lousy shopping experience. read more

This review is specifically regarding the bakery. We ordered a beach themed cake for my daughter's birthday from the catalog in the store. We were considering other designs from the catalog, but went with the one chosen because it looked like a beautifully designed cake. Price was kind of expensive ($41 and change), I thought for Stop and Shop but I was fine with it again because of the design of the cake. Well, went to go pick it up this morning, the day of the party, and guess what, the design was barely close, colors kind of the same but no where near the detail displayed in the catalog. My husband talked to the bakery manager, the differences were due to the employee's "interpretation" of the cakes design. What? We ordered what was in the catalog, the STORE'S catalog, not a description of a unique design. And of course there was no time to have another cake made. Keep in mind we did not order this cake last minute, so it was not a rush order. We did get the cake half off, but half off of a cake design that was much more intricate. If I had looked at the picture of the cake we did get, I would not have picked it and would have gone with something else. This is the first and the last time I will order a cake from this store, unless it is something as basic as can be. To charge $40 for something that is barely close to what was advertised is unacceptable and our end result was so disappointing, honestly I think to be charged the half price is unacceptable. Train your people to do what is advertised or do not offer those designs. Please, if you have your heart set on a nicely decorated cake, go somewhere else to avoid the potential disappointment. I've gone here since I moved to the area 4 years ago. I only buy a few things, but it's almost certain that something is out of stock each visit. Last night I went for 3 items, two weren't in stock. I always buy a certain bagel, and half the time the tray is empty. When I asked a woman in the bakery why this is, she said Oh, I must forget to order them sometimes. Really? Today I went for some fresh beans and every scale in the produce department was not working. So I went down the street to WF, and will keep going there from now on. read more

I give one star for the "bakery" if that's what you want to call it. I picked up my sons bday cake and it wasn't even close to the picture which we picked in the book. When I nicely asked I got a nasty response of "They do the best they can." On top of that it was $7 more than they had originally told me. Oh that was because of the little figurines in a plastic bag taped on the box that they said I stick on the cake myself. I could have gotten them at the dollar store!! I usually don't complain, but seeing as how it was my sons special day and the nasty attitude of the employee I asked to speak to the manager...who btw is awesome! Great management who keeps a broad variety of products and puts a priority on hiring vets and seniors. Cal, a 92 year old WWII vet who works 6 days a week is a local icon. His intelligence, humility, customer service and work exemplifies exactly what the American work ethic was for The Greatest Generation. I agree with some other reviews here that this store has declined in quality, cleanliness and especially SERVICE in the last couple years. Quick story: I recently ordered a birthday cake for my son. The bakery employee (Jamela) was curt and acted like I was bothering her. She told me that the cake would be ready at 2pm the following day and I told her that I needed it promptly at that time in order to have it for my son when he got home from school. No problem. Next day I go to pick it up, nobody in bakery and I have to hunt for an employee. When I find one there is no cake and they page Jamela. She finally comes and it's clear that she hasn't finished decorating the cake, so she walks off to do it without a word to me. No explanation or apology for the delay. I had to ask what was happening then go shopping and come back later. She KNEW I needed it by 2. My son came home to an empty house on his birthday bc I was stuck at the store waiting for her to finish. She could have at least been nice, but appears to have no customer service skills. read more
