    My receipt

I bought Russell Drivers Sugar Free Pecan Delight on sale today. It didn't taste right and was hard to bite into. After the 2nd bite, I looked at the expiration date and was astounded to see it'd expired 6 months ago. I can understand a day or two, I get it, but 6 MONTHS??? Pretty disgusting. This location has sunk in ratings and I personally have started to avoid it. I've been mistreated by a staff member in checkout, it always seems to be something with this person, and one time I was bothered enough that I actually called the store after leaving. Evidently I'm not the only person to call about her like I did because they knew who it was. Its hard to avoid someone when they approach you. Doesnt matter that I'm polite and quiet. It'd be nice to be able to shop without checking the dates on everything. I started shopping at Whole Foods most of the time because there really isn't that much difference in pricing anymore. I'm returning the candy tomorrow.

Watch your pennies, some items here are significantly cheaper than Walmart (next door) where as some items here, even with the coupon card can cost more than other places. They are starting to get more organic items now, but the produce can REALLY screw you in prices and WAY overcharge you. * If you like to eat scallions buy them in Quincy at the Chinese markets instead. * Onions you can often get better and cheaper at Trader Joe's. Also, for better fresh produce try the local Farmer's Market instead. ** They DO HAVE Clausen PICKLES!!!! :D And, they also have those blocks of aged cheddar cheese dipped in wax! I think if you get WIC checks you will probably enjoy shopping here. There's soooooooooooo much junk food here. if junk food is your thing, you MIGHT love it... but, if you are addicted to junk food and have health problems STAY AWAY! *** TOILET PAPER HERE IS CHEAPER THAN WALMART! GET SOME!

This S&S store isn't bad but it isn't that great either. It caters to the basic needs of local crowd. I live a few minutes down the street so i prefer this store to get my basic culinary items or day to day cooking needs. The store is pretty clean and well maintained. This location always has sales on nearly everything. I never had a problem with their customer service. It seems to be crowded during weekends but thats so typical of a grocery store. I once got the flower arrangements from this location and no complaints with the flowers. BTW this location introduced a Deli and cheese section for quick takeaways. The only buzzkill is that this location doesn't have a beer and wine section. I wish they would add it to their future list. Also no stop&shop gas station in the premises. Overall caters to the basic needs but nothing fancy!!

Every time I go in, I find more than I planned for or really need, but it seems like I really need- meals, meats, seafood, a decent grocery section and some specialty breads. The line for lunchtime sammies and specials can be a little daunting sometimes but the staff works to keep things moving along, getting food prepared and in the right waiting hands as quickly as possible. Speaking of the staff, in my experience they're helpful, professional and personable, without exception. This, the (original) Weymouth store is small but mighty! They have some dry goods, some veggies, but their big thing seems to be the freezer in the corner, their raw meats, and the hot and cold food counter that caught my eye. They definitely have their fans, one of which took home their American Chop Suey and meatball sub, and was planning to drench it with more of their tasty sauce at home, that they already had from a previous visit. I went with their large Tom Turkey Sandwich for $10.95 (Thanksgiving sandwich) and paid at the register on the other side of the room. It was large indeed, and stuffed full. The only improvement would be if they'd have toasted the bread. Gotta remember to ask them to toast it before filling it, next time!

The reasons why I liked Victory are the reasons I like the store these days. It's the only "grocery store" I've come across that carries the occasional locally grown produce, and I will shop that Produce department hard until I find where they're hiding those delicious farm-grown tomatoes. Victory used to carry a great selection of grown local produce. But other than tomatoes? It's a trip out to Bridgewater or somewhere else on the edge of the world to find a farm stand. Their rotisserie chicken is pretty tasty, but . . . I have to admit, I lived on Victory's rotisserie chicken all one summer while they carried a Korean BBQ flavor. A little variety here might be nice, just sayin'. I'm not going through every department but, it's especially irksome to consistently get 90% of my shopping list filled here and still have to go to S&S for my cat's preferred brand of litter- it's just not carried here. However, the employees are friendly, so very normal without dragging their personal idiosyncrasies into work for everyone to deal with ( I'm thinking of you, S&S) and if something goes wrong as it did for me this week, the employees will fix it and make it right. And the biggest thing that always stands out for me is that of all the employees I've made chit chat with over the years, people seem to long-time workers and most important of all they speak of how much they like working here. That goes a long way for me when customer-facing workers say that. So it's no Victory and I still have to roundup the loose ends of my shopping lists elsewhere but I like it! The store is clean; no surprises, no giant wins but no giant losses, either. Steady. Almost forgot the donuts! I haven't eaten a donut in 10 years until lately, and they're only from here! Hey, Mr. Big Y, could you just consider carrying Baskin Robbin's ice cream? Do us a solid and save me a trek over to S&S Norwell!

It didn't used to be this way but the past four or five months the shopping experience here has been steadily declining. Today at noon'ish, the hot foods counter was bare. Absolutely nothing in the trays. The cold foods were full but- tired looking. I no longer get anything from the prepared foods anyway, as I was on the losing end of an interrogation about potato salad last month (. . . and exactly why is it orange?) that was never going to provide an answer from the uninformed employee. Today, I did get prepared chicken salad this trip as it's delicious when it's made to their original recipe (rotisserie chicken, mayo, celery) but not so much when the chef skips the mayo. And celery. It looks like it has everything in it this time, so I'm hoping. Today in Produce, I did find two tomatoes on the vine. Not the delicious, locally-grown ones I found in here last week, but beggars can't be choosers, so I grabbed the last ones. Last week it was scallions. No scallions- why? That day, the helpful employee didn't deny it was odd, he just shrugged and said, "Maybe in a couple of days?". I could maybe excuse the empty shelves and the clueless employees except for the cashiers who know better than the customer. Today was the third visit I asked the employee conducting a painfully slow checkout process not to squash everything in my order into only one of my shopping bags but . . . nah, he knew best. so all went in one bag. Then he backed the cart out of his way into the line of people waiting patiently behind me, (insted of pulling it forward) saying, "You want your cart?" Why do I want that cart? I'm happy to put it back in the cart line without you running some poor woman's foot over with it, but sure, I'll drag the cart around the counter and through the line because I'm standing at the end of the counter emptying half of what's in one of my bags and filling the second bag with it anyways, so . . . I started shopping at TFM for the quality, the variety of unusual items and the pleasant employees who were helpful, doing a job, and trying to do it well. No clue what's happening, but I can't annoy myself here any more. But now I have to find Malted Milk Balls somewhere that even come close to TFM ones, and that's not gonna happen anytime soon!
