Today 10-29-22 at 8:30 AM I bought 2 packages of spareribs because they were on sale $1.99. 2 come in a sealed package. A few hours later I opened them up and almost got knocked to the floor because of the smell. I was having a dinner party that night mind you. I go a little ways out my way to shop for my smaller items at this location. Every time I'm there the employee's are always respectful and helpful. There is this one young man name Rondey and no matter the time of day/weather he's energy is always high. Today I went through the trouble of doing all my shopping only to find there was not a single register staffed. With all respect to those who prefer self-checkout, I don't. I take exception with any company that will take money from the community and refuse to employ it's members. Having five items, I tried to use "express line - 15 items or less" People on those lines were checking out with 100 items or more ... When I asked one of your employees why is this happening, Her answer was " I only work here" ... Price Rite in Stoughton is quite alright, but not a typical grocery store experience. While I like their store in Hyde Park at first glance, I haven't gone back since (sort of telling). I was in this area recently and in need of a few quick things. I was tired of Stop&Shop and it looked busy, so I decided to take a break and go to Price Rite in the "Stoughton Town Plaza Center" along Route 138. Accessible via Lincoln Street or Washington Street. This store is clean for the most part, with the exception of the produce department. Produce doesn't seem to be fresh or clean. Sort of picked over. Prices throughout the store are very competitive with other retailers, and definitely a good amount less than Stop&Shop. That being said, it comes at a cost of less variety in everything. Very little in frozen (very slim variety of Popsicles, and even smaller variety of Ben&Jerry's), and other snacks aren't available in certain varieties which gets annoying. The whole point of going to a supermarket rather than a drugstore is to be able to get EVERYTHING you need. Now I have to stop somewhere else. Urghh! The aisles in this location are on the newer side, and seem to be much better stocked than produce. Selection still lacks though. If I'm going to shop at Price Rite for the deals, the Hyde Park location is definitely my preferred in comparison to this one. 3 stars. read more

I like to shop at Price Rite due to its relatively low price and I also like the idea of bags need to be purchased, this encourages people recycle and save the environment. I used to go to the PR store in Brockton, now I'm so glad that there a PR store in Stoughton, which is much closer for me. However, at this one, it has so unlimited variety of choices, for example, it never has UNSWEETENED almond milk ( gallon), it only carries almond milk that loaded with sugar, no canned coconut juice, etc... I might be in the minority, but I just don't understand the appeal of Price Rite. This location is very close to my house so I gave it a shot for my weekly grocery trip. Here's what I came back with: -Prices are low but not considerably lower than the closest competitor, Stop & Shop. Stop & Shop has a considerably larger selection of products. -No in-house "ready to eat" meals...mostly cheap frozen food for pre-made meals. -All products tend to have two variants, one store brand and one name brand. Store brand for several products I checked - peanut butter, spaghetti sauce - was cheap but with crappy ingredients (lots of filler ingredients or high fructose corn syrup to be found). The name brand products are only slightly more money and slightly higher quality. -Nothing organic to be found. Not a dealbreaker if you don't care about that sort of thing but it should be noted that for most products, the options available are not made with the healthiest ingredients. -The loaf of bread I purchased had a name brand of "Gourmet". If Gourmet is your brand name, your product probably isn't. -Upon checkout, I was surprised to discover that grocery bags need to be purchased. In addition, your groceries are placed back in your cart for you to then bag after purchase. This may sound like I have a real chip on my shoulder for discount grocery stores. This couldn't be further from the truth. As insane as the shopping experience is at Market Basket, I love shopping there. Bottom line, prices are still lower at Market Basket, store brand products are infinitely higher quality at the same or similar price, they have terrific pre-made meals, and despite their competitive prices they still manage to bag your groceries with a smile on their face. If I wanted to pay low prices for *high quality* products and bag my own groceries, I would happily go to Trader Joes. Speaking of which, a Trader Joes would have been perfect here! To pay somewhat low prices for inferior products which then need to be bagged by me after purchasing...Price Rite feels more like a glorified convenience store than a full featured grocery store. I just don't understand why someone looking for a good deal on groceries would shop here when Market Basket is just a few miles away, carrying better quality products and similar if not lower prices. Just because you are not looking to spend a ton on groceries, you shouldn't have to settle for inferior products! Despite all of these things, the people who work here seemed really nice. I'll probably come back here from time to time if I am in a pinch for groceries at the last minute, but otherwise I just don't think Price Rite brings enough to the table to make it a better option than Stop & Shop (and especially Market Basket). read more

I went shopping here today for little things and i received a chicken wing that was chewed up and eaten inside of my 24 pack of ice teas. I cant believe what i saw. This is not only disgusting but also un sanitary. Most likely wont be back which is sad because the staff was so kind. read more

I primarily shop at Price Rite now. The store is clean and the employees are super nice. I am definitely saving money and time by shopping at Price Rite. Their produce is fresh, great quality, and they have enough variety to keep me coming back. There are not multiple of brands of the same item, so I don't feel overwhelmed with choices. My impression is that they stock items they get a deal on, so I keep an open mind- although many of the same items seem to be there each week. There are both health and unhealthy items there, as in every grocery store. Without endless choices, I read labels and decide what to buy, or not to buy, much more quickly now. I have not seen ready-made fresh meals at Price Rite, I've never been a fan of them anyway. When I need convenience, I can find something of quality in the frozen section. The Gourmet bread brand and it's as good as any other. There are other brands there too. The bakery section is small, but with plenty of choices. Some of the bakery containers feel cold, as if refrigerated or frozen prior to being placed in the department. I suspect that other grocers do the same because the items I've bought at Price Rite still taste fresh and as good as from other grocers . The plastic bags, at 10 cents each, are large and very sturdy, as are the totes at (I think) 99 cents, and I bring them with me each week. Personally, I don't mind bagging my own groceries. I bag according to where I store them at home, so it makes putting the groceries away more efficient. For the first few times it felt awkward, but now it's a cinch to bag my own . I imagine I'll be going to another grocery store once in a while when I need something specific, but for me that's not going to be very often. For example, Price Rite does not have a lot of personal care items, so I'll be shopping online at Walmart (free shipping over $35 now). In summary, I just want quality at a reasonable price and don't want each trip to the grocery store to be overwhelming. Went to pick up a 39 cents a pound turkey. Was the very first day of the sale and all they had was two way over size birds. Only two???? REALLY. IT WAS THE FIRST DAY OF THE SALE. If you like to shop for food in Building 19, there is a chance you will like this one too. The store is simply unkempt. Half of fruits and vegetables worse than on Hey Market end of Saturday, when garbage tracks clean the place. Bunches of greens were wilted, sad looking, dying of thirst. Not bagged russet potatoes were having scars from machinery. On the bright side, bagged carrot was really good cooking size, not those chop sticks in other stores. Eggs, milk, yogurts (I hate sweet yogurts, they have more sugar than Coca-Cola), some cheese and more are well priced. So, store fits for partial shopping, if one has time to visit different stores for bargains. Now about annoying things. Price of product is distanced from product by several feet. One need time to match them. All prices are located on the very top of shelf, where other stores keep things like condiments or such. The choice of teas and coffees is very limited, too limited, the worst ever I sow in this country, so junk food is in abundance all around store. By the way, shelves are very strange, they would fit storage more than public area. The faint smell of rotten food meets customers at entrance, which itself is not welcoming. All in all, all layouts (shelves, food, walkways, dynamics, statics, ALL) are BAD. Anyway, we bought several items, because price is really good. But bad surprise waited for us at cashier stand. Ah, they care for environment! The plastic bag cost 10 cents. For god sake, if you care, stop to sell them at all. They advertise them like reusable. Am I supposed to wash them to reuse (what about water and soap, or it is not environment)? Or I have to label at least those for raw meats and wash only those? I am not using kosher by the way, but raw meats have to be separated from other food. Good, we had very small (no meat) shopping, so we bought $1 bag. Needless to say, they are understaffed, lines to pay don't have enough space at front of store. All mobile stands are in wrong places. Honestly, I will not shop there anymore. read more
