The facility was VERY CLEAN..In addition, and just as important, is the fact that the location is VERY SECURE...On a personal note, when movers from a well known company failed to "show up" to unload my furniture items, the manager located help for me so I would not incure another day of charges from U-Haul...We got it done together. I have been unable to access my unit since January. This business if often closed before the hours they state they are open until, closed random days...I called today and requested an appointment to access my unit and was told due to covid there were none available and they weren't sure when I could get in. The office manager is a tad off, seems very overwhelmed by any request. Hangs up and yells often...Stated she could only have a certain amount of apts each day due to covid... not true!!!!!!!!!!!!There are 2 large dogs alone often in the front office, cute dogs, but unattended...Think twice before using this place, the manager was very accommodating the day I rented unit. It's been an absolute nightmare trying to get my items.. actually think more than twice!!! read more

Bottom line: Clean units, unhelpful staff. This business used to be called "Jerry's Self Storage" which is the result that still comes up on Google. Over all storage boss is clean and open 7 days a week (well, not if you need help from the on-site attendant, more on this later). We had a 10x15 unit upstairs (they have a cargo elevator and heavy duty carts for use) which cost us $200 a month. They have restrooms which are nice. Overall if you store it once and never have to go back it's pretty good. We had our things in there a little over a year. They have signs everywhere that say don't damage the walls, the carts, clean up after yourself (there are also no dumpsters or trash cans available anywhere), so they are really counting on the tenants to play a large part in keeping it clean. NOW THE BAD: The attendant appears to live on the premises and can be seen around, even on the weekend when they are "technically closed". In our case, we had lost our key and I remembered seeing a sign that we could call the attendant ANYTIME for help (there was a small fee for cutting locks), just that the main office would be closed (I assume this means no renewing of leases etc on weekends, makes sense so far). She answered the phone and told me the office was closed, and that she couldn't help, and suggested I go to Walmart or Home Depot and buy bolt cutters. $50 later I'm on my way to Storage Boss. Imagine my surprise when I pull up and see the attendant on the premises enjoying the morning sun through the glass windows to the main office. I am now confused. I knocked on the window for help and she stated that she could not help because the "office was closed". Getting frustrated at this point from the lack of customer service and courtesy, I cut my lock and cleared out of my unit. During this time I needed to place an important phone call to my wife who was travelling 12 hours to North Carolina. Realizing that I had misplaced my phone somewhere, I tried to politely ask the attendant if there was any way I could borrow hers. The answer was the same "sorry we're closed I really can't help you". She stated she could get in trouble and that there were cameras everywhere watching (seriously, this was the reason given). I understand that the attendant was technically "not at work" and shouldn't be penalized for this company policy, but really? In my opinion you sometimes just need to help people out, especially if you want to build a reputable business. I should mention that at the same time there was another couple that was looking for a screw driver to take apart some furniture before loading in their car. I lent them a screwdriver and they let me use their phone, like normal people. They also require advance notice of clearing out your unit, which is to be expected, but WILL NOT prorate any unused portion of the month. In our case, we wanted to leave on May 3rd, but were forced to pay for all of May, or clear out by the end of April. read more

I highly recommend Jerry's self storage. My wife and I visited 5 different storage facilities in the area before deciding to go with Jerry's, and we're glad we did. It was the cleanest of those we visited, climate controlled, and our unit is accessed from an indoor hall, which offers added security. Atrocious. Place is often locked and you cannot get in during their advertised hours. Says opens at 7am--- doors locked at 7am when they are supposed to be open, and no one there. Office staff locks office door and disappears. You cannot get in to pay your locker rent on in the middle of the business day. When calling this business to inquire about why the office and facility has unreliable hours and is not open for business when advertised, office person says "That's the way it is and if you don't like it you can leave!" I'd like to first state that I am a 19 year Active Duty Marine and am bound to my orders of the Marine Crops. With that said, Jerry's Self Storage of New Windsor does not understand what that means. I am at the mercy of where and when the Marine Corps chooses to send me. I received orders out of New York and gave plenty of notice to vacate from my storage unit (over a months notice when only 15 days are required). Never once did anybody there tell me that if I went over the 1st of the month I'd be responsible for an entire months rent and not prorated for the days of the month that were used. Thus I based my moving truck rental reservations based on when I was to leave. I went back to confirm my move out date and was THEN told(AFTER I made reservations)that I'd be charged for the whole month of July because of my move out date of 7 July. I have no choice of my leave date and find it ridiculous that they won't pro-rate me the 7 days of July. After explaining this to the woman at the counter she said she understood my dilemma and agreed to let me stay until the 5th, with my move out date showing 30 June on the books so I wouldn't be charged.(I have two signed and dated copies of this)I asked if I'd have access on the 4th she said yes, I thanked her then left. I went back to confirm two weeks before my leave date and was told they'd be closed on the 4th and handed a paper that said I had to be out by the 30th per my contract or I'd be charged for the month of July and do not harass us further written on the bottom. I never once harassed anybody, she on the other hand contacted my military command claiming that I threatened her. I was not rude or threatening or in any way harassing. But in the end, I was lied to so that I would leave. Had I not come back before the date that we had agreed on, I would've unknowingly been charged for the full month. That is just bad business. Because of her lie, I had to change my truck date and incurred charges for that as well. read more
