My most favorite vintage shop OVERALL. Store B Vintage has the most wonderfully curated collections. Pricing reflects that... but if you're looking a vintage Dior bag, you already know that going to be paying a pretty penny. I don't always leave here with a purchase, but the eye candy is top notch. Every dress and coat are in those plastic shoulder bags to protect the pieces while shopping. They have a vintage lingerie department- think bachelorette party... but vintage! My one complaint is that their jewelry selection is boring compared to the rest of the store. The gal with the short hair has been there forever and she's always sprightly:) Like the kind of cool where she's so into the selection and curation and history, that it makes YOU jazzed about that thing too. read more

Glorious and well cared for vintage frocks! Versace, Gucci, Miu Miu, Chanel, and more! Now granted all is one of a kind as it is vintage but if you are looking for that special outfit or are the kind of person who can put old fabulous together with new off the rack (confession: I always wanted to be THAT woman, and sadly *sigh* am not) then Store B is where you want to B(e). Nothing is cheap here, but you understand that when you see the quality and care that is exhibited. No missing buttons, stains, pulled strings, or odd smells. The clothing is sized and hanging with information that helps you decide if it is right or not. And the selection is like a Hollywood set closet. There is also a cute area of vintage mid-century dishware, cookware, and barware that is also not cheap, but it's chip/stain-free and lovingly displayed. And as far as prices, again...I don't know why people don't ask if the prices are negotiable. I have yet to meet a vintage store owner who isn't open to the suggestion especially with items where the overhead is low like vintage fashion. IDK, maybe the owner (whom I believe was in the store when I went) will write me and tell me to mind my own business, but I think she seemed reasonable and interested in helping people find something cool from the past. She knows what she has, yes...but she is also in the business of selling what she has. Dig? Go in and browse. read more

Minus 1 star because although I usually like what I see, the men's selection is quite small and the prices are about what you'd pay on the internet, maybe a tad more. Store B is not the best option for vintage in Chicago. The store space is small and very cluttered, and it has that typical "old and stuffy" smell. Granted, most second-hand stores have the same smell, but here it is pretty pronounced. If you are patient, you may be able to find some gems here. I have seem some vintage designer items in pretty good condition, but with an outrageously high price tag. Most of the items tend to be standard-label faire from mainly the 60s and 70s, which are again, overpriced. What really knocks the stars away from this place is the attitude of the staff. As many other reviewers have noted, the employees are rather unfriendly, even rude. I really don't feel welcome in the store, and don't feel comfortable staying for too long. Bottom line: Store B has a cramped space, cluttered and overpriced stock and rude employees. There are much better vintage stores on Wicker Park. read more

I didn't know what to expect walking in to this store. As soon as I saw "Vintage" I thought, "ooohh, maybe they have Pyrex", cause I'm obsessed people! Well they did, they had a whole bunch! Different sizes and patterns. They even had a Fire King Jadite mixing bowl. Unfortunately it was all over priced. I should know better that to go looking at a vintage consignment place for my obsession. Needless to say, I did not purchase ANYTHING! I was so mad. But I did manage to see that they had a bunch of clothing items. Didn't bother looking at the price though. So if you're looking for "vintage" clothing, this would be a good place. If you're looking for vintage dish-ware, not so much. read more

I used to love this place - the staff was friendly, the space was fun, and the products were great, unique finds. After a long standing patronage of Store B, I will have to stop going there. I stopped in to inquire about vintage hobnail vases for my wedding and the owner treated me appallingly, stating he would never carry items like that. He seemed to think they were tacky. I followed up by asking where I could find some locally and he turned back to his computer as though I had left. The woman behind the counter was kind and tried to help, which I appreciated - but I am so blown away by the owner I just won't be returning. read more

Some things are just not meant to be. And as much as I wanted to Love this place, a romance was just not in the cards. I should have seen the signs. Warning sign number one: I'm pretty certain that there is some kind of conspiracy to keep me from visiting, as the store seems to close its doors at the precise moment I may be passing by. Okay, that seems a bit unrealistic. I'm sure they adhere to some regularly posted store hours, but I swear - with all the time I spend in Wicker Park - I just couldn't seem to catch them during open hours. As such, I found myself reduced to window shopping - making mental note after mental note to "come by when they're open." Warning sign number two: By some glitch in the conspiracy, I happened to walk by and - to my amazement - their doors were open! I practically leapt over the threshold, afraid that if I waited even a split-second - the magical portal to Store B would close. Though I found myself already coveting a handful of knickknacks after just a preliminary glance of the shelves - I wasn't greeted by an associate at any time. Not a big deal in itself, as I'd opt for a quiet sales associate as opposed to an overly aggressive one anyways. But a warm welcome has become something of a resale shop standard for me, and Store B was seriously lacking (that day) in that department. Warning sign number three: While browsing a rack, my hubby nearly burns himself on a clothing steamer that was left carelessly on and nestled discreetly (ahem, hidden) in the rack. No 'caution' or 'do not touch' or 'HOT!' signs to be found. A bit disappointing. Not to mention a huge safety liability for the shop. Because I did notice some cute merchandise (namely, an impressive selection of vintage kitchenware), I could be talked into giving Store B another chance. But if any of the same warning signs begin to surface - I won't have any qualms with cutting our date short. read more

As a vintage lover, I do know quality vintage. No stains. Beautiful jewelry. The BEST assortment of vintage hats I have ever come across. Label brands (if you care about that) The staff is extremely helpful and nice here as well. And the prices? Ridiculously decent for the quality of the garments. They have a couple dressing rooms near the back with a much appreciated full length mirror. This is a new favorite vintage shop of mine. read more

I have mixed feelings about this store. I've been here a couple times and find that the items being sold aren't anything extra special and seemed to priced to the max. Being an avid vintage enthusiast and antique store junkie myself I know that a lot of these items can easily be found on Ebay for half the price they're being sold for here. The stuff here is fun to look at. But honestly there are lots of vintage stores in the city that aren't charging premium prices. So I'd save your money but do take a look. And who knows you might find something for yourself but that hasn't been my personal experience. read more

Too cool for school. That's what I thought as I cruised through this retro-rad shop. This place had it all! Vintage jewelry. Men's dress shirts from the 60's and 70's. Women's dresses from all sorts of times. Cowboy boots. Very cool housewares like a Daffy Duck and Tasmanian Devil glasses. Serving items that would make great pieces to talk about at a party. Soap. Purses. Fabulously fun hats! A cigar humidor. And the coolest fire extinguisher cocktail shaker! Really, I could have gotten lost in here. The prices seemed about right for most of the things that I looked at. We aren't talking bargain basement thrifting, but I don't think those prices are warranted here. This was a clean shop with hand picked items not just a collection of the junk that no one wants. I could certainly afford to wander (and hopefully buy) from this lovely shop. Such a cute store - the cookware in the front made me wish I actually cooked. The stuff here is REAL vintage, as opposed to the "used clothes" stores along Milwaukee masquerading as vintage. Tags on each item tell you when it was from. There was also a broader array of items here than I've encountered elsewhere - aprons, robes, shoes, hats, gloves, coats, purses, jewelry, etc. You could get fully kitted out all in this one store. Items seemed expensive, but they were having a sale today and perhaps do more frequently than I'm aware. The woman working was very nice and helpful. read more

If you're looking for vintage clothing that's in good shape for women with taste that is a little more ripe... er uh... older?... this place gets 4 stars... I had an honest to goodness, "you gotta be kidding me" experience in Plan B. While this store does carry some nice vintage glassware and clothing it is so overpriced it can only be a joke. A simple black cardigan for $48? A 60s Hawaiian dress for $68? There are cheaper places (with a better selection) elsewhere in Chicago. I was greeted when I walked in the store. When we lived in Chicago we use to do our Christmas shopping here. I bought a beautiful vintage tea set here years ago....two kids and several moves later we still have it! I haven't been in a vintage store like this since. So happy to see they're still around, hope to shop in there again someday. When I went in to Store B, there were several people there looking all the wonderful jewelry and housewares in the front. I went to the clothes to see what I could find. All the clothes in this shop are top quality. They have their buttons; the zippers work; the clothes are clean and not stained. That's hard to come by in vintage. It was a little hard shopping since clothes are arranged by color and type, not by size. But I manged to find a sweater and 1970s grey polyester dress that I thought were well priced for their quality. When I went to the front, the manager and I started chatting about clothes, and she led me back to a suit I had missed. With it's quality lambswool collar and perfect fit for my body, I couldn't have been happier. I ended up having to decide on what to buy of my three picks, but she wasn't pushy and even helped me to figure out what were the better buys. I would so go back to this store again and again, just to look if not to buy. Some shoppers might find the clothes and wares high priced, but if you know vintage clothes, you'll know immediately that you get what you pay for. And at Store B you're getting the best. read more

TL;DR: Meh. Standard fair vintage shop, good attention to clothing quality but prices seemed exorbitant. Too much stuff jammed in for the size of the space in my opinion. Store B looks just about like 95% of vintage shops I've been in. Crowded, filled with garish shades of polyester, and with a fine selection of kitschy home decor. It's not a bad spot of you like costumey pieces, but if you're looking for classic, timeless pieces, I'd suggest trying elsewhere. I'm of this latter set, so I didn't find anything I liked at Store B. Scratch that, I did find a few pieces I liked. Some cashmere sweaters, a couple of wool skirts, and a dress. But they were all quite overpriced in my opinion. Yes, good quality, but to be honest I could have found any of those pieces on an afternoon of hunting through a few thrift shops, and purchased them for a tiny fraction of the price. Example: short sleeve cashmere sweater, no label - $65. Not insanely priced, per se, but it was a small bit of fabric and there was nothing to recommend it other than it being cashmere. It was very plain, and I could have walked into a department store and purchased the same item new for a few dollars more. Shrug. Maybe it's just not my sort of place. Certainly it wasn't bad, but it just didn't do anything for me. read more

This is such a beautiful store with friendly staff and an adorable long-haired dachshund! I stopped in here a couple of weeks ago and found a reasonably priced, fun sweater. I asked if the sweater could be marked down since it had a small hole. The kind woman working in the store was unable to alter the price but went completely out of her way to sew the hole together for me. This level of customer service is hard to beat! Some of the clothes are somewhat expensive but it's clear that the quality of the merchandise is several cuts above what other vintage stores on Milwaukee are offering. The housewares are really unique and often much cheaper than the clothing/accessories- perfect for a student like me who wants to support the store but has a limited budget. I will definitely be visiting Store B Vintage again! read more

eek! methinks not. i am visiting chicago and had a day off to wander around by myself. a friend recommended that i check out this store... i walked in and noticed they have a super cute small dog who roams the store, as it belongs to (who i believe to be) the owner. i bent down to pet it, and the dog bit me. im a dog lover and i do know you should probably ask an owner if the dog is friendly first, but she was standing right next to me and didn't warn me, and afterwards as she was asking me not to sue her and the store, said that the dog has become aggressive lately and has been starting to bite people. SO DO NOT BRING YOUR DOG TO THE STORE EVERY DAY, LADY. anyway, i left without buying anything, obviously. read more

Like most vintage stores, it's totally hit or miss, but if you catch Store B on a good day you are in for a treat! I used to love wandering in here on walks down Milwaukee. Now that I don't live nearby, it's a special treat to stop in and see what new treasures I can find. There are plenty of clothes, hats, shoes, scarves - all in good condition. Prices aren't bad. I've bought a scarf and a hat here and they were both under $30. The front of the store also has a lot of kitschy houseware stuff. read more

Some really gorgeous items here. Tried on a pale blue shantung sheath and matching coat with a fake fur collar, both for only $120, which allowed me to channel my inner Jackie O; a heavy and exceptionally well-made full purple silk skirt covered with tiers of black lace from Jaeger London for about $60; and a very substantial sequined gold and black bolero that may have adorned someone at Studio 54. You can also find great leather purses, lovely coats, sparkly beaded sweaters, and a host of other vintage wonders. read more

Store B Vintage is fantastic! Shopping for Mad Men era clothing for a wedding weekend in the fall in Napa. As a curvy gal, this mission been challenging. Christine and the selection at Store B Vintage made it easy. First, Christine is very knowledgable and friendly. Second, the clothing is arranged by size and clearly labeled. Third, they have a wide range of styles and sizes, including larger sizes which are hard to find in vintage shops. Lastly, the accessories made my shopping even easier! Great experience. I needed a last minute outfit for a wedding and walked in and told the 2 guys on staff what I needed. They waited on me hand and foot and before long I had a complete ensemble: purse, evening dress, jacket and scarf for under sixty bucks. Their stuff isn't all vintage either. A lot of it is newish and quality brands. Not as cheap as the Salvation Army, but less expensive than most resale boutiques. read more

store b is hands down my favorite vintage store in chicago. sure, the prices are steeper than other area stores, but as previous yelpers noted, store b stocks vintage in the best sense (for the style AND substance of the piece), not just used goods. every item in the store is well-considered in terms of quality, interest, condition and sheer loveliness. no one era/trend/designer is emphasized, as there's an implicit understanding between shopkeeper and customer, that it's the woman who wears the clothes (shoes, jewelry, accessories) and not the other way around. whatever you end up purchasing here will no doubt become a favorite addition to your wardrobe. the friendly and knowledgeable staff is a definite bonus. read more

Store B is by far one of my favorite stores to shop for fabulous finds. I always find something wonderful! - whether its millinery, knit dresses, scarves or a wiggle dress. I once left a great find; walked Michigan Avenue and saw a cheap modern "knock off" of what I'd regrettably left behind! Lesson Learned: Don't think twice in this store. read more
