The booking was easy and straightforward. We priced out renting a car for the trip, but storm mountain was way cheaper and easier. They called us while we were waiting for our bags to confirm everything went smoothly. Check in staff were very helpful. Driver to the resort (coach) had our kids cracking up. Here's my experience: My friend said he booked my wife and I a shuttle, our first time to Steamboat. At the airport they had no record of our reservation...due to OUR friends mistake. However, they said they would double check and requested I leave them my CC info. They fit us on the shuttle to Steamboat which we were happy about. The driver was kind. The next day (Wednesday) while on the mountain I received 2 phone calls and an email. I'm not on my phone while on the mountain so I returned the call when we got off, around 3:30pm. I asked to speak with the person who called me (and left me 3 messages). I explained the error to her and apologized, and she said, "We Definitely don't have room to take you back to the airport on Saturday, we're fully booked, but we're Definitely going to charge you the full amount." That's exactly how she said it. Well what could I say to that? It felt rude. I expect to be charged the full amount. I just said Ok and then she hung up and I went on with my day. On Saturday I met my friends at the airport and they revealed that the shuttle was empty, only one other couple. But for some reason, they DEFINITELY couldn't take us. That's the main reason for this review. The rudeness and the lie. Maybe they wanted to try and fill the van with others who would pay full price and not get the roundtrip discount. IDK, but it seemed strange. We booked our shuttle to the airport on Ski Town Transportation. Had a great experience. The van was nicer too and we only had one other group in the shuttle with us. Plus it was less money. They are DEFINITELY better in my experience. read more

I've used Storm Mountain Express on two trips to HDN and both times have been great and very convenient. Booking is really easy. I had a question about the pickup time after you arrive at the airport so I called them and the woman who answered was very kind and explained that the drivers go by the flight number and so they know to wait once the flight lands (in case it's delayed and also to account for people picking up their checked luggage and gear). The people at the counter at the airport are very friendly and tell you which number shuttle van you are in and the name of your driver. The drivers are always good safe drivers. The shuttles are very clean. The pricing is pretty similar to the two other airport shuttle companies and this one gives you the option to tip the driver when you book so no need to carry cash with you. For pickup on the way back to the airport, they were right on time and got us to the airport early. I would definitely use them again. read more

TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE I called customer support and spoke to an agent who was incredibly rude. First, I was explaining my request when she interrupted me and seemed quite irritated. Then I requested to cancel my reservation and she said there would be a fee, which I was fine with, but she seemed to want to argue about it. I followed up by emailing a comment about this poor customer service experience. They replied quite defensively. Overall, the customer service was very poor. Our flight was cancelled from LAX to Hayden, I quickly received a call from the staff asking about the flight change and updated our pick up time. When we arrived at Hayden I was greeted by our driver Marko who was super cool and had some great conversation on our way to Steamboat. The vehicle was clean and comfortable. On our return trip to the airport our driver Mike was right on time. Soon after departure, I forgot an item at the pick up location. Mike without hesitation turned around and drove back to our condo so I could retrieve my item. Mike was a wealth of knowledge regarding the local area and a pleasure to talk to. This company is well run, on time, professional, and most importantly they care about their customers. My husband and I arrived at Hayden airport on 12/26/2021. We came from CA so we thought we could easily call an Uber or Lyft to get us into Steamboat Springs. We quickly found out that there is very minimal Uber/Lyft drivers at Steamboat and we could not find a ride into town at all. It was snowing outside and we aren't used to driving on the snow so rental car wasn't an option for us. We visited the busiest week of the year so it was really tough finding a ride into town without proper planning. Flights were delayed/cancelled, drivers shortage... The situation was dark for us. We tried to call other local transportation companies but none could help. Luckily, Storm Mountain Express took 30' to look into their schedule and say YES to help us. The front desk young lady was trying her best and nice to me. Our driver Pete was wonderful. He drove us safely to our Airbnb. We had a lot of luggages and unfortunately forgot our backpack in his shuttle. We were going to do some grocery shopping at Safeway later in the evening. Pete was kindly dropped it off at Safeway Service Desk for us before we even get to the market. Our experience with Storm Mountain Express was wonderful. Shuttles are clean, drivers and staffs go above and beyond to make sure you get to your destination safely. We had a chance to meet Michael, the owner. I can tell he's an honest and hard working man. We love to support local businesses. Without a doubt, I would ride with Storm Mountain Express in the future! Please don't be like me. Plan ahead and schedule your ride ahead of time. The price seems expensive but it isn't. It's definitely more affordable than Lyft/Uber in Steamboat and save you headache when you arrive at the airport. :) Just a head up, Steamboat is a very small town so they are short staffs everywhere. We had nothing but a great experience with Storm Mountain Express. The folks answering the phone were very friendly and attentive. When we landed, we simply checked in, and once our luggage came, we boarded our shuttle, they did a head count and off we went. No waiting. No delays. There were tons of SME shuttles lined up and ready. The trip was quick, the driver offered us some info about Steamboat, he helped with our bags. They confirmed our return trip and they arrived perfectly on time. Using Storm Mountain made the choice to not rent a car very easy. The local bus is free and easy to use (shows up every 15 minutes), so once we found this shuttle, everything was taken care of. I would highly recommend! read more

Their reservation times are mostly meaningless. They changed our pickup time to an hour before our reservation. Essentially picking you up 3 1/2 hour before your flight which is actually longer than your flight. read more

They both went out of their way to help us with our luggage which was quite heavy. Jeff also gave us a beautiful slideshow with his photos of the area while we were heading back to the airport. Overall, I do love this business. Jill at the front desk at the Yampa Steamboat airport is a DOLL! I've never met someone so attentive with making sure we were taken care of. The minus one star was due to our shuttle arriving initially what was supposed to be an hour late; so we went to the restaurant in the airport to order some lunch...but about 5 minutes after ordering apparently our driver showed up at sooner. So the confusion regarding that situation was kind of chaotic. But Jill made sure everything was corrected as much as possible. She was the saving grace. The issue we had was with the woman answering the phone. She was the rudest, most condescending person I have ever spoken to in a customer service role. I was coordinating arrivals and departures of 7 eighteen year old boys (my son's friends) with varying arrival and departure times. They flew in from GA, TN, CA, and MD. In order to make sure they were all set, I called to double check everything. The woman was incredibly short, rude, and told me "if they are old enough to go on a trip alone, they are old enough to handle this themselves!" This is NOT her place to say. I'm just a mom trying to make sure all the boys get back to their homes safely! Additionally, prior to arrival for this trip, I had a few questions since we are new to Steamboat and she acted SO BOTHERED to answer my questions. Other moms in our group making reservations had the same experience. This woman is turning customers away. We will be back to Steamboat, but I will NEVER use Storm Mountain Express again. I encourage you to explore other options before booking. This is not the cheapest or most efficient way of getting to the airport. While the drivers are nice and polite, I am more concerned about getting to the airport in a timely manner. The shuttle made over six stops before finally taking us to the airport. SIX! And the stops were all over the place. (I might add, every time the shuttle makes a stop, the door gets left wide open the entire time while the driver is loading the new passengers suitcases into the back. When it is 11 degrees outside, this can be rather unpleasant.) You have to budget an extra 30-45 minutes of travel time if you go this route. For the price of a solo private ride, it makes no sense for anyone to book this shuttle. They need to lower their prices and make significantly fewer stops if they intend to stay in business. read more

We used Storm Mountain Express for our group of 6 people and couldn't have been happier! Despite our flight running a bit behind on Christmas Day, they accommodated us no problem and had a shuttle waiting to take us straight to our hotel. They communicated with us before our scheduled pick up time on our return back to the airport and were right on time! Fortunately, go alpine had room and provided me transportation home so not stranded at airport overnight. 2 days later received 6:05 am wake up phone call that storm Mountain shuttle running late to pick me up for 8:00 am flight. I reminded them that flight was not until next day, and they had awakened me for no reason. Storm Mountain then proceeded to justify their failure to pick me up at midnight. Finally had to pretty much hang up on them so I could go back to sleep. Asked storm Mountain for full refund and booked go alpine for shuttle next day -- which cost more money since last minute and had to purchase 2 one way trips. read more

Upon arrival at the airport, service was prompt and we were shuttled to our dwellings right away. On our way back to HDN at the end of our trip, however, we were told the incorrect pick-up time and got a bit of push back from the driver when we indicated that we were told a different pick-up time. He was early and luckily we were ready. They should get their communications down if they're going to be operating with full shuttles during high season. All in all, it's an OK service and a comfy, warm shuttle. Don't forget to tip your drivers. read more

My flight was at 2:30 pm and I was told that my pickup time from downtown Steamboat Springs was at 9 am (it's a 30 minute drive to the airport). I called twice to try to push back my pickup time, but they wouldn't budge. My flight was delayed on the day of departure, and I called again to get my pickup time pushed back to a later time and they still insisted that wasn't possible. I ended up spending 4+ hours in the airport and wasted half of a day because this company refused to listen to my multiple requests. I won't be using this service again whenever I return to Steamboat Springs. For other people coming to Steamboat in the future, I would recommend scheduling your ride into town from the airport before arriving with a different company. read more

I was researching the transfer options from Hayden to Steamboat across several companies. I was intending to just review the schedule and get a quote from this company but inadvertently proceeded through the full booking process when I thought i was just making an enquiry. Yes, this is probably partly my fault but the website was not clear and was missing vital information about the scheduling in my opinion.... That wasn't the issue... The issue was when I phoned the next day to explain what had happened - the customer service representative was completely passive aggressive and rude. Apparently in 20 years she'd never seen someone have trouble with the website - I'd love to know how good your website was in 1996! It was in my full right to cancel at this time, as their terms allow cancellation at least 48 hrs before a trip - I was cancelling 3 months ahead!! At the end of the day I could have saved $20 going with Storm Mountain but I have no qualms spending an extra $20 for helpful, friendly, respectful interactions with their competitor - Go Alpine was absolutely helpful and lovely to work with throughout the whole process. If anything were to go wrong with pickups, flight delays, change of plans etc, I know who I want to pick up the phone and chat to and it's not Storm Mountain Express! read more

$52 per person is way overpriced but you really have no other choice when you're at an airport that doesn't allow any other taxi service and is 25 miles from Steamboat Springs. We, along with another group on the shuttle were told the wrong pickup time so we were all left scrambling trying to get ready since they were very early. I think they need to retrain some of the people who tell clients the pick-up times. I would suggest double checking the pickup times. read more
