Good local country store for purchasing local Vermont, Maine, New England area products i.e. Stonewall Kitchen preserves and jams, Vermont maple syrup, jars of candies, various scented soaps, lotions, scented candles, kitchen utensils, coffee mugs clothes, socks, cards, brews, cheese, souvenirs, etc. Two stories of country goods. Open daily.

This will take you back in time to the ye olde days. Have fun poking around and you'll definitely be surprised at some of the artisanal, organic, and locally made items to buy. Enjoy!

    All gone! Definitely try these!

My favorite shop in Stowe! Both my Mum and I agreed this was the nicest store, with friendly staff and a huge variety of items. We tried some of the fudge they had and bought some yummy maple shortbread cookies. We went into this store a couple of times during our two day stay in Stowe!

Great selection of merchandise from food to gift items, but pricey. I saw the same mug somewhere else for $5 less.

I really wanted to buy Vermont Maple syrup but there were multiple choices and I didn't know what they meant and how to make my decision.

You can't call these folks on the phone for a simple price quote without getting dissed because they have a "line" waiting, which could simply have been a, "I've got people waiting, could I put you on hold or could you call back in 30?" But instead was a mocking statement that implied he (Stowe Bev) could easily do without my business and that answering me politely simply wasn't worth the several seconds it would take to do. Never mind the argument the staff person posed when "correcting" me as to how long it takes me to drive from my house in Waterbury to the store front (30 minutes, but he corrected me, assumedly knowing better than I do where I live, and said, "It only takes 15 minutes to get here from Waterbury . . . . ." which is patently incorrect, even if you have no traffic and break all the speed limits. Rude. Dismissive. Imperious (in the extreme). Short sighted (when the tourist business dries up, as it does from time to time (economy, pandemics, shortages), you'll be looking to the locals to keep you afloat. Hopefully, we'll have better things to do - like patronize someone else. Stowe Bev, wake up. You're not the only show in town.

The shop on 3 Elm Street had originally opened under the name 'Craft Beer Cellar' in December 2013. It was part of the 'Craft Beer Cellar' chain of specialty beer stores that was founded by Suzanne Schalow and Kate Baker in 2010 with the opening of their flagship store in Belmont (MA). Two years later, they began franchising and at the chain's peak they had 33 locations in 15 states. Mark Drutman was the original owner of the Waterbury location. By 2019, CBC locations began to close (including the flagship location which closed in 2023). After the Dunbars made their home in Vermont, they decided to switch craft beer from their hobby into their livelihood. Drutman sold the Waterbury CBC to the Dunbars in May 2023. They slowly began to make the shop their own and by the following year they left the franchise and unveiled a new logo and a new name. The Vermont Beer Collective now has one of the best craft beer selections that can be found in the state. The Dunbars even added a bar in the store where customers can sample beer from 8 taps as well as a three-tap LUKR faucet from the Czech Republic. The couple also have a love for hiking, skiing and cycling and hope to make their shop a venue for the outdoor sports community to gather. I recently visited the Vermont Beer Collective while I was on a Vermont craft beer road trip. It's conveniently located right across the street from the popular Prohibition Pig Restaurant & Brewery. After enjoying some delicious smoked meat and a pint there, I headed across the street to check out the shop. I was really impressed by their selection! They had offerings from the best breweries in Vermont, around the country, and even breweries from the international scene. We're talking the best of the best! The bar was also really cool! The place is not just a shop where you can buy beer but also a place where you can hang out. I spoke for a few minutes with owner Nate Dunbar. He was really friendly and he told me that he's originally from my home state of Connecticut. He explained that the store had about $25,000 of flood damage in their basement just weeks after they bought it, but they pressed on. He told me about the future plans that he has for the shop and seemed very optimistic. Before leaving, I purchased a coveted bottle by Belgian-based Brouwerij 3 Fonteinen to take home. I'm happy to have discovered the shop and I wish them all the best!

Just tell them what style of beer you like, or which beers you usually drink, and they can provide numerous recommendations. They were also very knowledgeable about beer in general, proving to be an invaluable resource to help you find some good beers to try. In particular I wanted to sample some local beers, and I loved all of the options they recommended based on my flavor preference. If you're anywhere near Waterbury, VT, and enjoy good beer, do yourself a favor and stop by the Craft Beer Cellar for some great beer recommendations.

What a gem of a place - great ready to eat food, specialty grocery items, AND big smiles. Wednesday - pot pie day! Hefty for its size - the chicken pot pie yesterday (flavors change) was loaded with so much meat that a slice didn't change its shape on my plate. That pie crust was buttery goodness! Thursdays thru Saturdays - hot rotisserie chickens (ready at 4pm)! Sticky caramelized skin, mmmm. These pastured chickens are raised in VT, so they are as clean as they are delicious. Daily baked goods - the banana buttercotch scone, brown butter chocolate chip cookie, & raspberry chocolate chip muffin are all fresh & so yummy, with crispy edges and moist centers. Their strawberry pop tarts look to die for! Groceries - an excellent selection: local eggs, beautiful cheeses, Vermont Salumi, Sisters of Anarchy ice creams, panko breadcrumbs, Asian condiments (fine brewed soy sauce, soup bases, etc.), Tony's chocolate bars, fresh produce, frozen fresh raviolis, kombuchas and specialty sodas, and a large selection of wines. Giving back is a loving theme here. With every purchase, you have an opportunity to give your tips to their monthly partner. This month they are supporting the Pride Center of Vermont. I'm looking forward to next Saturday's dinner special (eat in or to go), and Sunday's savory hand pie!

The price on the shelf rang up a dollar more when I got to the register ( not including the bottle redemption fee and VT tax). It was only a buck so didn't say anything and let it go. The next visit I purchased a bottle of tequila. When I got to the register the price was two dollars more than listed on the shelf. Again before extra fees. This time I brought it to the attention of the guy who was cashing me out. He didn't believe me until I asked him to look at the shelf label. So I was correct with the incorrect pricing but he didn't know what could be done. So he got the woman who I am guessing was the on duty manager. She was pretty much annoyed that I questioned their pricing and basically said " well there's not much I can do about alcohol purchases. Whatever the register rings up is what you pay." So be prepared to pay more for what you take off the shelf when you get to the register. I think there are laws preventing this but I am not a lawyer. Take your business elsewhere
