We arrived on a Thursday evening about 5:30 and there were about 12-15 sitting around the bar. The bartender let us know there were quite a few orders in front of us. Hubby ordered the Whiskey burger medium rare with battered fries and I ordered the Wisconsin burger well done with regular fries. From the time we sat down until we received our food was about an hour and a half. The burgers were cooked exactly how we ordered them. The buns were the highlight. Great grill toasting on the bread to give it that extra crunch. The bartender was very attentive and made sure to keep updating us on how much longer. As we sat there many now people came in. Must be a great local spot and for snow mobiles. I think that's what hurt us is the locals took priority over us which I get but the wait was entirely too long. They need to hire another chef on busy nights. There was a pool table and dart boards as well as music and slots. read more

My new favorite place for a fish fry. We were in the area for a wedding and I needed my Wisconsin fish fry fix. I was not disappointed. You order your food, go to the bar area and enjoy a cocktail and when your name is called, they seat you in the dining room. The fish was perfectly seasoned and crispy, good fries and cole slaw as sides and plenty of tartar sauce. Lastly, the bartender made a perfect old fashioned. Can't wait to return. read more

Best Beer Batter Fish Fry in Wisconsin - New Name "Straight Home" If you want a traditional beer batter fish fry this is the place! I have eaten here many times when growing up in the area over fifty years ago. Now I get there twice a year and nothing compares to the welcoming service, good drinks (the bartender remembers my drink of choice) and the best beer batter fish fry (w/ all the sides) I have ever had! And believe me, I have been searching for a beer batter fish fry that is close to theirs since I moved away, and no one even comes close. We went for fish fry after a friend recommended it. 14 months ago ownership changed and the current owners have really improved the place. The food was excellent! I had perch and my husband tried the haddock. The portions were large, the fish was cooked well and not too greasy, and the fries were good quality too. It is a small place and fills quickly, so get to the restaurant early. We will definitely go for fish fry again there. read more

NEVER AGAIN, 1 1/2 hour wait and still no food, when questioned it was another 1/2 hour plus wait. Screw up ordering system. They prefer the locals and serve them first. We live less than a mile from this place. I used to eat here often, primarily for Friday fish fry. and it was pretty good, then something happened. I'll condense the last 4 dining experiences here into one review. You'll get much better service from the place if you're a regular or they know you. the cost is extreme for what you get. I've been told directly to my face that they were too busy to make a chocolate shake to go with my fish fry ( there were 2 people waiting for take out ahead of me, so NOT busy) and chocolate shake is on the menu, also on the menu are "brew fries" when we've ordered these they have no idea what we're talking about, the fish is deep fried and super oily (I expect from a fish fry, but not to this extreme.) at times the fish tasted like the oil in the fryer hadn't been changed or cleaned, I've gotten home with my fish dinner only to find that my French fries are still frozen, the total they gave me when I called my order in was wrong, I've been short changed and treated poorly when I pointed it out. it's very obvious that they don't want my business and I'm more than happy to comply read more
