Such a nice place to take our family on a Friday night. First off, their baby reds were very good! Their fish fry was good, not heavily breaded, and their baked cod was seasoned beautifully. Supper Club with a circular bar where the locals come for good food and drink. I've eaten here 4 or 5 times. Even though they have what looks like two larger dining rooms, I have always sat at the bar to listen to and sometimes engage in a lot of fun talk. Also has a couple of larger TV's to watch the Brewers. I like their steaks, ribs and French onion soup. Pretty much have stayed with that order. Going to try something else eventually! Ambiance very nice, waitresses and others very tentative, food ... well I had the Ahi and menu said rare to medium rare unless specified other. Well I love Ahi, I just have a hard time with jelly like interior so I asked them to cook it medium well. My coworkers had and finished their meal before I had my Ahi. The explanation was as that the chef did not cook well enough and had to start over! What was on my plate was seared outside, raw in center! The side order of fries came even later! Long story short I ate the fries and called it a day. They did comp my meal, watch was great but I will not be visiting anytime soon. Not good. The Sunday Special was apparently the "prime rib special from Saturday even though it's Sunday." Ordered it rare. What came out was an unholy combination of a poorly made ribeye on the grill served with underseasoned potatoes and broccoli. Clearly they just took the prime rib they didn't sell Saturday, threw it on the grill, and dump a mushroom sauce over the top to hide it. No pink at all. Dark grill marks. Nothing special about that special. The French Dip also was more of a steak sandwich and not shaved prime rib. Way too big of slices if you can call them that. Eat somewhere else if you want a Supper Club feel and not pay $50 for a bad steak. read more

Your typical Wisconsin supper club right in the Schofield! It's usually packed on Fridays and most week night so we decided to visit on Saturday for lunch to avoid the crowd and wait. Food - the star of the show is fish fry of course and it's so worth the wait. Fried to crispy perfection with all the mandatory sides! Hubby gives it 9/10. I ordered the seared tuna which was decent but lacks flavor. Tasted kind of bland. Ambient- warm, inviting with Wisconsin decor featuring local artwork. You feel instantly at ease like at your best friend's house. Service- it was a tad slow since the restaurant was mostly cleared out for lunch. I am in my mid-thirties and can't believe I grew up here and never even heard of The Palms. They have ample parking in their parking lot which was great. We went on a weekday and I was surprised how busy the bar area was. It was filled the whole time we were there during the dinner hour. We sat in a separate room. Our server was really helpful and detailed with any questions we had. I started out with a dirty martini which I felt was a need when visiting a Supper Club. We shared the Palm Nuts which are large tater tots loaded w/ bacon, cheddar cheese, and chives. This comes with a side of ancho ranch. These were delicious and I highly recommend. I knew I wanted to order off the Entree menu to have a side salad and a side of choice. I got the Ahi Tuna plate which is pan seared w/ a sesame crust. It was good but not amazing by any means. I still enjoyed it. It was topped with shredded carrots and a hoisin lemon bbq sauce. My choice of side was a baked potato. I really enjoy visiting The Palms and would definitely return. read more

So, let's start with the first time we tried to eat here. Two hours before closing we were turned away at the door because they were too busy. Fine, I get it. I was on a search for some good prime rib and this place is always packed, never been here. So tonight, it's a Friday and we came because I really wanted to try this place out. 8 at night and got seated immediately. Drinks were good and onion ring were good. She ordered shaved prime rib sandwich, and I had the seafood trio. Her sandwich was nothing more than sliced roast beef with absolutely no real taste. Seafood trio is snow crab legs, jumbo shrimp and cod. The snow crab legs were the quality of cheap buffet style, old soft shell absolute garbage. Very disappointing considering the cost. Two smaller shrimp that were so rubbery and hard they were hard to eat, again very disappointing. The cod was fantastic. I would almost come back for the cod but because 90% of the meal that cost 80 plus I'll chalk it up as a lesson learned. Absolutely not worth the trip. It's too bad. I had my hopes up for finding a good restaurant in Wausau. I gave two stars only because the service was stellar. But she did steal my coleslaw off the table. lol, I looked, and it was gone. MEH The waitress didn't stop back to see how we liked the food or for drink refills which we wanted. No mention whether desserts were available. I felt rushed out. We live in this community and drive by the Palms several times a week. We'd had disappointing visits a few years ago when it seemed you had to be a regular to get served. But we had heard the ownership changed and things were better. So, we decided to give it another try. It was Fathers Day weekend and we went there for lunch. The Palms is a classic Wisconsin supper club with a large circular bar as you enter, and a couple of side rooms for dining. We were seated at the rear of the building, a few steps up from the bar with a glass partition separating us from the bar stools. The waitress was friendly and funny. She wished me a happy Fathers Day and I asked how she knew I was a father. "Dad pants," she said. Being lunch time and not very hungry, Sherry just ordered cheese curds. A Wisconsin standard, these little nuggets are breaded and deep fried. She said, "OK," but not as good as some other local restaurants. Mine was a tenderloin sandwich with mushrooms and grilled onions. It was very tender and tasty if a little messy. It was done the way I ordered. While waiting for the food, we looked around and saw examples of local art work for sale hanging on the dining room walls. Unfortunately, the art work was not very inspiring and with price tags, seemed to me to be sort of tacky. On the table, a container of condiments was home made of stones and various items glued together. Interesting, but it seemed out of place to me. So... service: good. Food: OK. Atmosphere: Bland. The DC Everest Class of 1984 is in town for their 35th class reunion. Some of them may have dinner reservations at Palms Supper Club in an attempt to recreate the special night they knew as Prom. They should make other plans. From the pieces of siding lying on the ground around the restaurant to the other poor exterior maintenance to the "downgrade" in the interior furniture. Palms Supper Club is not the place you remember from your youth. The "supper club" is under new ownership, and an article next year noted the effort they put into remodeling the interior. The remodel resulted in a place that feels like a bar and grill not a supper club. Honestly, the piece of siding lying on the ground as we got in our car to leave served as a perfect epitaph to the Palms. We have heard from many people to avoid the fish since they use cod and many people did not have great experiences. We planned to have the beer battered shrimp, and I can tell you that the only reason I did not rate Palms a 1-star is because of the seasoning in their breading. My bourbon old fashioned arrived and started off our meal on a down note. Bourbon, ginger ale, old fashioned mix and olives is tough to mess up. Unfortunately, if any old fashioned mix was in the drink, I didn't notice it. I have had better old fashioned in Illinois and Minnesota, two places that call an old fashioned bourbon with a giant chunk of ice in a glass. When they brought out my grandson's ravioli, it came with the red sauce right on it despite TWO clear requests to leave it on the side. Our shrimp was beer battered shrimp. Nothing special, but thankfully they do not advertise their shrimp as "jumbo." It was 5-6 shrimp in a light beer batter that had a little bit of seasoning mixed in. My issue? You can get five JUMBO shrimp with perfectly cooked baked potato and a salad bar for $19.99. For $2.99 more than the shrimp at Palms, you get a markedly elevated experience. The baked potato was undercooked and hard. A perfect baked potato cooks to 205 degrees, which completely cooks the potato through and leaves the "meat" of the potato fluffy and perfectly warm. This was not that potato. The restaurant uses a handheld ordering and payment system, but I really wish they had invested that money in the kitchen. I have eaten phenomenal food in places that looked like a dump on the out side. Unfortunately for Palms, the rundown exterior telegraphs to customers what they can expect inside. So, if anyone in the class of 1984 reads this, you have much better options at Gulliver's Landing, Patron, Chang Garden, Sconni's or Wish. You only have a 35th reunion one time. If you want to have a good memory, go anywhere but Palms Supper Club. read more

Took my folks (80 yrs old) here on a Saturday night, during a nice trip home from where we oive now in St. Louis...been coming here since the early 80's. A little wait, so we sat at the bar waiting. Very good service and good drinks! Sat down, and ordered the food, which took a fairly long time to arrive--but these days, this gets a pass from me, I'm just happy people showed up to work! Had a pan sautéed Walleye which was over cooked, but edible. My Dads fried shrimp where really good-not the heavy breaded butterflied crap you normally get, but whole large nicely done battered shrimp. The star was my wifes Tenderloin burger. Simply the best burger I have had in 58 years on this earth! Melt in your mouth, perfect medium. Such a cool place. Good food, drinks and awesome staff. read more

I would be happy to give a review of this restaurant, but no one came to our table to serve us. The hostess seemed a little unhappy when we told her we did not have a reservation. (there was a big lighted sign saying "immediate seating" or something like that). So not a good first impression. Then a young man brought us some water and that was it! We were ignored for about fifteen minutes when a party of three were seating next to us. Immediately, the hostess signaled for one of the waitresses to go over to the table of three. She did and started asking them about drink and appetizer orders. So we got up and left. I don't just blame the hostess. It is a small room and any of those waitresses could see no one was waiting on us and could have come up and asked if we were being served. Obviously they were all trained at the "it's not my table so I'll ignore them" school. I hope you all have a better experience than us. tip - make a reservation...lol read more

Went on a Monday night around 730pm when the place wasn't very busy at all. I think we had a new waitress because the service was significantly below expectation. She actually stopped mid order to go run out another order that she had and didn't come back for 10+ minutes. There were numerous times when we were waiting to get our drinks filled, water, beer, etc. When the food came out it was great! My medium rare ribeye was a little on the rarer side but it was a great cut with great flavor and that made it easy to eat! The twice baked potato was very good and they make a nice old fashioned. When we started to order our food, my girlfriend wanted some seafood but they said they didn't have any because of COVID. They were thick and moist and spiced just right! The price was very reasonable. Decor is interesting and fun. The homemade condiment holders are neat decorations that the owner made. Went for the first time in years just last night and absolutely loved it! It feels like an old school supper club, drinks were wonderful, and one of the best fish frys I've had in recent years. Got a minute? Pull up a chair. This is a fantastic Steakhouse. Course there's other things to eat but I like steak. I like steak I like Ike Rita onion soup and I like a good old baked potato. I got all three here. That's right the trifecta. Ordered the special potato which turned out to be a twice baked potato with some bacon inserted and real taste. Had a medium rare steak smothered in mushrooms. Superb!. And of course I started it off with a french onion soup which was so good. Yeah the trifecta. I hit the trifecta!
