My items were moved quickly and safely. I have antique furniture and it was in perfect condition when it arrived at my new place. Straightline Movers did a great job with our move from DC out to the VA suburbs in August 2019! Henry was communicative and flexible as our needs changed leading up to the move. Straightline Movers are the best! They helped me with a long-distance move from Washington DC to New York City. This was my first major move where I hired movers. At first, I was nervous that the company had less reviews than the other companies, but they were consistently 5 stars. So, if you're unsure about who to pick to move you, let me help convince you to hire Straightline Movers. 1) The owner, Henry, personally ensures that everything goes right. He is friendly and professional. He was very nice, answered my questions, and didn't give me a hard time about seriously underestimating how many boxes I would have. He told me that he understood from our discussions and was able to estimate how much space I would need from that alone. He made himself available all the time to answer any questions I had. He was straight-forward, honest, and reliable. 2) He did NOT nickle and dime me. AND they were completely affordable! I was looking at a larger company that gives flat rates. His original estimate and rate given to me matched the lowest estimate I had. While other companies tried to increase my rate if I didn't take it within 24 hours, Henry and Straightline Movers did not. He provided me extra garment boxes at no extra charge. 3) No deposit! I didn't have to worry about paying a significant amount of money only to have the company not show up, provide substandard services, and/or steal my money. 4) He was fast & efficient! Henry and MacDonald (the two-man moving team extraordinaire) were able to take all my furniture and boxes out of my apartment in 2.5 hours. This was no easy task considering the building was from the 1920s and only had a tiny and difficult stairwell to take everything out. He picked up all my goods in the afternoon, and then drove up to New York the next morning where we met them. Within two hours, they took all of my things up to my new apartment (a third floor walk up, no less), rebuilt my furniture, and we were all ready to go! And, he did all this even though I made a rookie mistake and overpacked my boxes. He made what could have been an extremely stressful move much less so. Henry, the owner, was extremely helpful, flexible, and competent. He delivered our shipment (the full contents of our 2-BR apartment) himself with the able assistance of one other staff member. Finding good movers can tricky. I wasn't familiar with the company but took a chance and was glad that I did. Henry was my first point of contact- we talked through the items I had, timeframes, etc. What impressed me most was that he suggested the moving option (crew size) that was most sensible for my needs-- a suggestion that would save ME money. It's not often that a business doesn't look for ways to "up-sell". For that reason, I appreciated his honesty and went with them. The estimate that he sent beforehand was consistent with the final charge. The movers worked quickly and were careful w/ everything. We had a hard time fitting a large item into my unit (very narrow hallways and it's not really apt sized). They initially couldn't give it in, but they didn't give up. Henry and his crew of two men moved us in late November of 2018. As we were moving into an apartment in the same building where we had been living, Henry had told us that there would be no reason to pack - a HUGE relief to us. On the day of the move, Henry and his crew showed up as promised and on time. They moved all of our numerous possessions to the new apartment without any damage to any of our belongings. I would like to point out that we own numerous breakables, including china, platters, glasses, artwork, and some antique furniture. The three were very patient about furniture and area rug placement and moved some things several times before we were happy. No grimaces, only smiles until we were satisfied. Furthermore, we were concerned that there would be breakage and thankfully there was none. In addition, Henry and his men were extremely polite and kind throughout.
