I had a very good first experience at this hair salon! I discovered it through a search of salons that have a catering to natural hair care. My appointment was with Daisha T. for a natural hair consultation and mini twists style and I must say that I was impressed with her. The salon is in a convenient location and not hard to find if you know where the Chick-Fil-A off of Cooper & Bardin is located. I was greeted upon arrival and was happy to see that COVID-19 precautions were still in place: all customers are expected to wear masks, staff had on masks, the salon wasn't overcrowded, hand sanitizer was readily available, etc. The salon was clean, had a nice vibe, and good music was playing. Daisha T. was a pleasure! She seems knowledgeable about natural hair and like she actually cares about the health of hair vs just the style. I had great conversation with her! She handled my hair very well- she used a wide tooth comb for de-tangling, she wasn't rough when shampooing or conditioning my hair, she reviewed general natural hair care info throughout the appt, and she remained professional the whole time (no talking about anyone or gossiping). My appointment started on time and I wasn't made to wait around to accommodate anyone else on the side. I love how my hair turned out! Again, it was a pleasant experience and I enjoyed it overall. I'm going to start by saying I was very excited to get my hair done here. My original appointment was for 1 PM and at 11:19 AM I received a text message saying my appointment has been rescheduled for 12:30 PM. Since I'm self-employed it wasn't a big issue. I finally get in Crystal's chair at 12:45. Tells me one moment and disappears over to the Shampoo area. Now just an hour ago she told me she had a cancellation and that's why my appointment was moved up. She's shampooing somebody's hair and just left me in her chair and didn't say a word so finally at 12:55 I walked out. Highly annoyed as well as disappointed. Won't be wasting my time at the salon. If she started running behind after we spoke the common courtesy thing to do would have been was to call me and tell me to keep my appointment at 1 PM. I needed my hair cut since I haven't had it done since I left Seattle years back. I saw the reviews and decided it was ok to try and they had a space this weekend. I was a couple of minutes late for my appointment but that didn't matter because my stylist was a half an hour late anyway. My stylist didn't cut my hair as I wanted. All I wanted as an undercut and she styled it her way. Maybe she had no idea what an undercut was? I had to instruct her several times, which I never had to do at a salon before. Then she keep trying to talk me into getting a partial relaxer. I relax every now and then but I'm not obsessed with bone straight hair. My goal here was just getting my hair cut because I can't see the back of my head at home. I can relax it myself for less than $5. Then she asked me if I didnt want a shampoo and style, to which I asked "Are you sure you have time?" She said, yes so I said ok. Once she trimmed it and washed my hair, I was stuck up under the dryer for way too long. Not to mention, the power kept cutting off about 5 or 6 times IN A ROW. This is NOT an exaggeration. It was so much so another client got frustrated and just abandoned the dryer all together. Apparently they cannot run 3 dryers, a microwave and a t.v. at the same time without a short. Since my hair was now very short, it dried quickly but no one came to check on me. When the power shorted for the last time I actually had to tell a different stylist that I was dry. She said, "Let me check with your stylist" and came back and said "She said you need another 15 minutes" What? My hair bone dry already! So I waited about 5 minutes and cut the freaking dryer off myself. Then someone walked by and let my stylist know that my dryer was done and she finally came to check on me. Then she asked me to take a seat on their couch. They keep me under dryer so she could work on someone else. Instead of just saying so she'd rather have my head cook to by her time. Not only that I sat on the couch for another 15 minutes. I wanted to leave then and I should have. Also typical Black salon ghetto talk (Real housewives, who is thick, etc.) and they were more interested in talking with each other than their clients. Also, if you're Pro-Trump in anyway, you should avoid. She finally got me back in the chair to finish up and she kept burning the tops of my ears with the blow dryer then combing the comb over my ears. She did that on both sides! When I was done she didn't even brush the trimmed hairs from my face and neck. I had to go the bathroom and wipe myself down it was so much. For a hair cut from bowl cut length to some weird pixie, a shampoo and a "style" was $95 not including tip. I just paid and left so I could get the hell outta there. The cherry on the cake was my appoint took from 9AM to 1PM. WAY too long for what it was. Stay away! read more

Initially, I booked an appointment with Porcelain. After listening to my hair needs she felt another stylist, Janice was better suited to tame my mane. They were both wonderful! My haor looks amazing, the ladies were professional and personable and I love my hair. Janice cut, colored, conditioned and styled my natural hair. I'd planned on getting a relaxer to help with manageability but after a thorough consultation with my stylist, Comille, I decided against. She was incredibly professional but still personable. My mom recommended this place. I was a little skeptical because we have different taste in hairstyles. But I took a chance anyway. I must say I'm glad I went! My stylist was Felice. From start to finish I was very pleased. My hair is natural and I got crochet weave. Once again I was a little skeptical because back in the day crochet style was very different and I didn't want an out-dated hairstyle. To my surprise, my hair was bangin! Felice knew what she was doing. She washed and conditioned my hair, trimmed my ends, and moisturized my scalp and hair. It did not, I repeat...IT DID NOT hurt when she braided my hair nor when she crochet the hair in. She showed me multiple ways I can style the hair (God knows I can't style my own hair) and told me how to take care of it. She was very tender. Very professional, kind and encouraging. It only took about 3 hours to do it all! And that included stopping to wash someone else's hair and put them under the dryer. She started on my hair on time. Oh yeah...The place is clean!! This was my 1st time visiting this salon and I decided to give it a try during my brief stay in the DFW area. I really wanted Crystal, but she was unavailable so I settled for Latonia. I appreciate Latonia calling me to tell me she would be running late and rescheduled me for 11:30am when my original appointment was for 10:45am. I arrived at 11:25am, hoping to be seen shortly after. I waited another 30 minutes for her to arrive and when she did, she didn't even apologize for her tardiness. Prior to washing my hair (which I don't even believe she did a thorough job of) she decided to detangle my hair, DRY! From there on out she man-handled my hair, even after I told her it was rough when she asked me. Her reply was that she was trying to "detangle it". Really?! Obviously she had NO CLUE about how fragile natural hair is, SMH. Even the detangling session after the wash was horrible. I could not wait to get out her chair! Basically, the only pros I could give from this experience was the cleanliness and decor of the salon and the hair "cut/trim" she gave me. Stylists seem to be really strict with their time policy, the same respect should be given to clients- we expect you to be on time as well and apologize if you're super late. In addition, PLEASE learn how to properly handle natural hair. If you're going to offer natural hair services, then every stylist should at least know the basics (IMO)-- you don't just rip through natural hair!! Bottom line, I won't be returning. read more

Waiting on a call from Lisa the manager to set up an appointment for us along with my ex beautician Janella, to come to a fair resolution of what to do about the severe damage of my hair. Which with a strong amount of evidence, which includes pictures, bank statements, and notes written by Janella herself prove to some extent that she had caused some of the damage caused from a tract installation. My Last appointment was with Lisa the owner in which she surveyed the damage of what was once medium length hair to now the back being butchered to short lengths not even long enough to tie into a ponytail in which she had to even out. Note she was not aware of what actually happened until my appointment with her in which I then told her who last did my hair all while feeling very uncomfortable under the glaring eyes of other beauticians including my ex beau. I will now need protein treatments n more products to build my hair back to what I had work so hard to achieve. Still waiting on that call. The owner asked did you get weave in and a perm, yes. "That could be one of the causes for the breakage", she said. I thought to myself thats a lil detail I was never informed about, probably because I thought a professional would kno that. Janella had installed three tracks in the back with sewed blended hair in which I brought, but she assured me she could match them to my hair color since the weave was not quite my exact shade. Let me mention that prior to my official hair appt., I met her face to face at the salon in a complimentary consultation in which she did state that my hair was healthy with good water retention enough to install single tracks that would help further my hair growth. Now lets fast foward to the actual appointment in which before the weave in she had applied a no lye perm called syntonex because she thought it would be gentler on my biracial hair along with a complimentary steam treatment to help with dryness. This all costing a total of 125.00 plus she received a substancial tip that my mother paid for as a gift to me to lift my spirits. Note the perm was a touch up.Liked the results looked natural it was basically a inch or so more weave longer than my natural hair. It wasnt till the third visit that she informed me I had to take out the weave or it would probably break all off. Had her take out the weave n thanked her thnking she had my best interests at heart. She had offered next time that we could do a semi full weave closure that would probably help which would cost at a starting price without hair 200.00. After my hair dried she styled it I noticed how short it was in which she stated its still 10 inches the length you came in with. I may be ignorant at times but not stupid as I stared at the bob style look. She even inquired about my health, making me thnk it was and another beau chimed in maybe u need hair vitamins like shes a doct. without knowing my medical history or meds or my drastic weight loss. That didn't stop me from growing my hair out that took a full yr. I could go on and on but I ended up letting the shop owner, Lisa do my hair n I never bad mouthed my ex until the owner,Lisa asked what happened. I found this place online. My consultation was first with Lisa but I was turned over to someone else. I guess there was a miss communication concerning what I wanted n Latoya chopped off what I was trying to grow. Anyway, Lisa called n fixed (the best she could) my style. Fast forward- I was finally able to get a full sew in. First let me say that I do not mind paying for great service but my last visit was ridiculous. I showed Lisa exactly the style I wanted. She told me it was easy to do. After sitting waiting about 30mins after having my hair braid (Lisa had another priority), the disaster began. I have alopecia in the top n was assured they knew how to cover it well. NOT!!! After she had sewed my hair in, i was told she need to put a glued track in because she could not completely cover my spot. Really, and she is suppose to b the expert! Was I suppose to tell her how to do it professionally?!? The cut was horrible!!! I simple left without saying anything. The receptionist scheduled me for a return in two weeks but I will not be going! I feel that if a salon is going to charge u 300$ for a weave than they should know exactly what they r doing are at least do what is necessary to correct their mistake. I know other customers are waiting but my 300$ is just as valuable as the next! Oh, did I mention, I bought hair and a dye job also. My hair was suppose to be dyed jet black. Upon getting home n looking through my sewin, there was more spots not dyed than there was dyed. Anyone with alopecia r hair loss, look further for stylist. This is not the place for you. I am newly moved back to Texas and finally realized that the stylist I had in Atlanta is not going to move with me so I finally had to get off my butt and find a stylist here. I choose Strand by Strand to start my search because they are close to my work so my plan had been to start there and work outward. Well my search is over. I have found my new hair happy place.The location is great, the salon looks fantastic and the stylists that work there are having fun doing their job.It's a great atmosphere. Unfortunately, what used to be natural chemical free tresses have been butchered due to the stylist's blatant disregard to my instructions to stop cutting!! Her response was that she didn't want my hair (which had gorgeous weight and volume) to look like a wig - that this would affect her reputation. Moreover she cut it crooked. I now have braids and am starting all over again. I'm never going back to this salon. My advice to the stylist is to listen to your clients, not your ego. read more

My experience wasn't good at all. First she starts by asking me do I perm my hair myself I said yes the town I am in there are no black beauticians so she says your hair is damaged like three times I say I am sure it is. She was trying to sell me the protein treatment but I was already going to get it anyway so need to keep telling me my hair is damaged. Got it. Then after treatment she blow dries my hair and the heat from the dryer was burning my scalp. Then I had to sit there while she leave the area to go talk on the phone like three times. My hair was like some old lady 1980 hairdo. She asked me do I care for spritz I told her no cause my hair flakes up and every strand she touched she sprayed spritz. So I ended up washing my hair two days later. I paid 80 dollars for a wash, protein condition and style and she trimmed my edges. I was fuming but I had just found out I have a tumor so arguing with this woman about my hair was not in the cards for me that day. Then I get home and look close at the back of my head she didn't even give me a edge up smh. She had the clippers out cause whatever she did one of the teeth on the clippers was scratching my neck.
