I got an incredible haircut from Robert Wilson last week. I had become really afraid of haircuts after getting constant attention from strangers and acquaintances about how beautiful my hair was. The morning of my haircut, my boyfriend suggested cutting an entire foot off so I could donate to Locks of Love. I did it, and I LOVE it. I didn't even have any idea how I wanted the cut to look, I just gave Robert creative freedom since I had heard about how incredible his work was. Let me tell you, he is a master stylist. Got my hair colored here for the first time and they did a great job! Laurel did my color and Joel styled. My hair is pretty dark so it was hard to get used to at first. I did light/caramel brown balayage. The color looked great in natural light but in certain light looks a lot lighter (more like a dark blonde). I explained this to them and they fixed it for me by applying a darker shade. They were very very nice about this and booked me an appointment asap! Prices are reasonable. Parking is available in the front or at the Granada if there isn't an event. They will give you a "tour" of the salon and explain all this for you. I've never been so happy with hair color in my LIFE They took their time (this was also a con) Sukaya was really sweet. She did my cut and color. The sinks were really comfortable for the neck. You lay on a table with your head straight. Affordable! Cons: It took 5 complete hours. I was really hungry. They started cutting my hair without asking me what I wanted- then I told them what I wanted and they fixed it. It was really weird, but it turned out ok. For this reason, I'm docking a star. A couple recommendations from Yelpers led me to this place and I'm so glad I came! As soon as I walked in, I was greeted by Janna and she noticed it was my first time here, so she gave me a tour of the place including going over the parking situation. Which, if you're new to the area, you should NOT park in the wrong place or you will get towed! It's awesome that they care enough to tell you about it so you have no worries while you get pampered. I love their process of multiple people working on you from your greeting to your shampoo to your blow-dry and finally the cut & style. You almost feel like a VIP with your own style crew. Everyone is so friendly there and I like how they work like a well-oiled machine. I had my appointment with Tasha and she did an amazing job. She listened to everything I said I wanted and delivered. Yesssssss! Another win for the Live Hair Group team... which means another win for me! I went back to get my red locks touched up and was super happy with the service yet again. Like Mai said Sukia and Robert are amazing people, so nice, so kind and always cheery. Tasha is the one that hooked me up today though! I thnk she blow dried my hair last time, but on this occasion she was the one who took care of me the whole time. She is a bad ass with her pretty tattoos (on the tops of her feet and more I believe.) She put in my color gently, slabbed some gnarly gel around my face so I didn't walk out of there a red head and red face, then went to work on my hair. I love this color and am super happy with it. She even fixed my hair for me without me even asking her to. My hair has never looked like this and it probably won't again, but I am happy today. Yipppeee! Since my last review Live Hair Group has expanded. They took over the space that was next door. They have a girl that does threading, and one of these days I'll give that a try. She does make up too, but LHG has done make up for as long as I can remember. A couple of Fridays ago I finally checked out hair happy hour. Come in with clean hair and they'll style your hair for $10 (Fridays from 3-7). I opted for the curls and my hair looked fabulous, as it always does when they curl it. This past Friday I decided to cut my hair pretty short. It's been something I've been thinking about for some time. I put full faith into Tasha, and let her work her magic, and she has me looking cute, but to be honest I'm still getting used to short hair. It's so much harder to style each day! Still the best part of this salon is the people. Kenny the cutie at the front desk is always fun to talk to, and he keeps my wine a'comin. I talk to Janna each time I'm in to catch up, and I almost always meet at least one other costumer because we're all just so friendly, and love being at the salon! I'm almost tempted to ask them to put me on the payroll. I can sweep hair! : ) The other part is I've been going to this salon for 3 1/2 years and there haven't been many times I've been in there where Tasha or someone else wasn't talking about a new technique they learned. I had a similar invite as Kristie A. and I'm glad I went. Janna & Robert are the coolest. Its hard to explain but Live HaIr Group had this great feel to it. Kinda funky, cool art, toe tapping playlist but it also had a cozy family feel to it. They appear to have a lot or regulars that are now friends and folks from other shops nearby just stop by to chat. It was also nice to be served a beer before we began. Thanks Janna. The cut was great. I have kinda out of control hair and don't even try to comb it in any way. Robert was able to get the feel of what looks good which is the multi-directional bed head type of look. He paid a lot of detail to each little lock and calic. The only thing preventing me going back every 3 weeks is the price but I'll be back. read more

I usually see Tasha but we were on vacation and I was on a budget so got with Janna and she recommended Laurel who it I remember meeting back in the day. She's assisted Tasha with blowouts in the past. She's even sweeter than I remembered and made me laugh many times. Laurel is also very focused and fixed a terrible cut from another salon. She made me relax and before she was even finished I knew she understood my vision and would create the look I wanted. I finally feel like myself again and had such a wonderful time with her. I promised to see her in sept/oct for a trim. I've learned my lesson. Won't trust another salon with my hair ever again. I'm truly happy :D read more

Just got my second haircut from here and Robert did his thing once again!!! I'm very picky of who cuts my hair but once I find that one stylist that can work with my hair I'm going to stay. I'm easy going with my cut...I dont really care how it looks as long as I can manage it. I came in and told Robert he can do whatever he wants with it and all I wanted was side bangs and the length. I visited again recently to do the same ombre. Turns out April is now gone so I decided to go with Julie since she was in my price range. I was already pretty comfortable since I had already met Julie when April was doing my hair the last time around, but Julie was truly fabulous and did a wonderful job on my ombre! Not only was the ombre exactly what I wanted but my hair cut looks great as well. I have black hair so bleaching it can be pretty difficult but she didn't rush me. Now the coloring from the glaze is pretty much gone, but it still looks awesome!! Also I highly recommend their Friday hair happy hour! $10 blow outs!! DO IT! Had my hair dyed here for the first time ever. I was really happy with the result, Bethany was really nice and did a good job! However my hair started falling out the next week and has become brittle and thin, the treatment must've been too harsh on it and now there's nothing I can do but wait for it to grow back (it better grow back!). I lived in Dallas over a year before I finally found THE place I get my hair done. Live hair group is amazing.The location is near Buffalo Exchange on Greenville Avenue. They do haircuts, hair color, highlights, hairstyles, eyebrow threading... everything you need. And while everyone who works there is very good at their job I would recommend Laurel who does my hair. She has colored, cut and given me highlights and I've always been extremely happy with the results. I get tons of compliments everywhere I go on the ombré she did for me. Quick back story: I had an itch to cut my hair (it was the new year), was fed up one night, got a COUPON in the mail for great clips, ended up at Super Cuts (first sign of disaster) and got the WORST hair cut from the WORST person in the universe! Posted about it on Facebook, SnapChat, and Instagram to vent. *REVIEW*: I received an inbox from Lainey Brotherton inviting me to come in and see what she could do. I was devastated and said no, give me 3 months to take hair, skin, and nail vitamins and biotin and rub anything anyone would tell me to on my head. It finally grew out pretty well in 3 months and I was able to go in! Lainey then washed my hair, dried it, and the straighten it and was able to tell me what the psycho did to me! She confirmed what I thought, I was chopped up!!! When Lainey was done I can not explain the miracle she had just performed!!! I was able to take my FIRST selfie of the year!!!! I felt beautiful again!!!! I was back to being me!!!! The hair salon is very welcoming and allows you to be 100% open and feel like your with life long friends!!! I have VERY fine, baby fine hair and am self conscious and the staff is wonderful!!! When you walk in you will feel their positivity and their love for hair and their customers!!! Got my pink (rose gold) balayage from Lainey. She's amazing. My hair was bleached in the perfect amount and she has technique making the colors really blend together even when she didn't put the main color on yet. I hesitated to write this review, because Robert the owner is really nice and is a great stylist. Having said that, I feel like I need to write this because of how rudely I was treated by others at this salon and how badly my hair was butchered before Robert fixed it. First, I do NOT recommend Lainey. I'll post photos to show what a terrible job she did with my hair. I had long hair that was one length except for my bangs. I went in for a minimal trim to get rid of split ends and to trim up my bangs a bit. I made this clear to Lainey and we agreed she would cut 1 inch. Halfway through my cut I notice large pieces falling on the floor. I ask her "You're just cutting the minimum right? Just 1 inch?" And she says "I'm adding layers to give your hair movement!" I'm thinking WTF because I did NOT want layers, but she assures me they will be very subtle, long layers, and it's too late for me to do much so I hope for the best. It looked mostly OK from what I could see but when I got home I realized it was AWFUL. My hair was completely jagged and crooked and 15 different lengths. My friend said it looked like a drunk toddler cut my hair. I called the salon to tell them I wanted it fixed. Someone answered and told me she'd check the owner's schedule and call me back ''in a few minutes''. She didn't bother to call me back. I had to call back over an hour later and speak to someone else. When I came in for Robert to fix my hair, I was coldly greeted by the blonde lady at the front counter. Then she and one of the stylists proceeded to stand there, 10 feet away blatantly staring me down while whispering. They didn't even try to be subtle about it. It was so rude and very uncomfortable, not the level of hospitality you'd expect at a privately owned salon. Meanwhile Lainey walks around and doesn't acknowledge me once. Not even an 'hi, sorry you weren't happy with your hair!" . Unprofessional behavior all around. Robert was kind enough to fix my hair and give me a refund, but overall it was a really negative experience. My hair is about 4 inches shorter than when I started, and now has layers that I didn't want. It's been almost 2 weeks since my visit and I still feel unhappy. I'm upset that my 1 inch trim turned into a 4 inch cut with layers. I spent a long time growing my hair out so I could cut it all the same length, and now I'm back to square one. Robert, you're great but your salon needs a culture change.You have inexperienced stylists who do not listen to their clients, a rude and unprofessional front desk lady, and a catty environment which makes me uncomfortable to come back. read more

I really want to try this place after reading the reviews but when I called to make an appt. Kenny said the owner, Jana likes to speak to new clients before they book. He took my phone number and repeated it to me and that was an hour and 45 minutes ago. No call. Not liking this too much. Jana called right after I posted, she wanted to explain how the salon works since it is so different. She was incredibly flexible about getting me in but when I found out it would be $80 for a cut, I decided this is going to have to wait until after my vacation! I trust my fellow yelpers reviews so I hope to try this place in the future. Jana called me back 2 hours later to tell me she was having a hard time with my 1 star rating! She said I brought her 5 star rating down to 4.5. I told her I didn't like having to wait an hour and 45 mins for a call back just to make an appointment. Now that I've had time to think about it I don't like her using caller ID to call me back about my Yelp review. This scares me and I think it was inappropriate. Drives 4 hours to spend 3 hours in a chair....I dunno. But LHG, makes people do crazy things. I went in to get my hair styled (I told you I would be their worst nightmare), had to go to a work thingy for the BF....needed to look presentable. Janna greets with huggies, Robert greets with a smile and nod (he's currently working on OK girl) and Tasha comes to collect me. Dry, curl, flip, spray, gel, flip, tease, curl...repeat. I'm not really sure these people are human to be honest. My hair was ridiculous, Tasha was on it gurl. I told her that it was amazing and how can hair "artists" (that's what their called at LHG) be so good? I can't do any of that at home...i'd look like Monster (from Sesame Street)... THANKS LHG....you rock my world. As always. If I move to OK, I'll make the trek as well.... read more

I've had some weird experiences here to say the least. 1st Experience: show up to my appointment early like I was asked to, and they are running behind. Janna gave me a free eyebrow threading because of it. Matt does an amazing job on my hair. I leave extremely happy. Although it did take 4 hours.... 2nd experience: show up on time and no one else is in the salon because it's 9am. Matt starts doing my hair and everything is just great. Janna then shows up and is extremely rude to me. One of the hairstylists was getting married that day and they were closing early. So Matt is tying to get me out on time and Janna starts in about how they can't dry my hair, cut it, and that maybe they can braid it wet. I told her I had work and a date so that was gonna be a no. Then the receptionist (the Spanish guy with black hair) starts in on how he knows all of the inside people in dallas, how cute I was for going to certain places, and basically made fun of me. He would not shut up about how much better he was then me. It was the most insulted I've ever been. Janna then keeps trying to push me out the door. If they know they can't take an appointment, don't book it. I even called and left a message to talk to Janna about it and ask about a threading and never received a call back. Yes this place is good. Matt is amazing!!! I love him dearly, but there are places who aren't so fickle with customer service. If you want an amazing experience every time... I really wanted to love Live Hair. They were my first effort at finding a hairdresser in Dallas, I loved the location, and the stylists are all very nice. The thing is: my hair has never looked worse. I have given Live Hair multiple chances and I finally just had to let it go and find another stylist. Before my first appointment, I had an amazing rundown by Taylor over the phone. He asked for specific details about my wants that I felt he cared about the answers to. When I got there, they told me about their "dry cutting" process-- which means that they wash, dry, then cut your hair. There is something deeply logical to it, which sounded fine to me, so we got started. There are long beds for shampooing, which means no bent neck and discomfort. I added a hair conditioning and laid down for 10 minutes. Totally comfortable. After the wash, two stylists started blow drying my hair. The sensation of two people blow drying your hair is an interesting and not entirely pleasant one. There was a lot of opposition pulling. My scalp felt a little tender at the end, but it wasn't a deal breaker for me because everyone was so nice. The environment is casual, but personal. So, I thought I would go back although the cut I received wasn't exactly what I wanted. The first experience was ok. But, all I had was a cut during that session. During the second appointment, I scheduled a hair dye and cut. I had an appointment to go to 2 1/2 hours after the appointment started and I figured that would be enough time because it has never taken three hours to do my hair. Similarly to the first time, they washed and dried my hair before the cut-- and that part went well. The cut was fine, not perfect. Then, the color started. Without very much consultation, the dye started to be mixed and applied. Over the course of the next 40 MINUTES, I had hair dye on my hair that at points was burning my scalp and no one came by to check on me. By the time it was ready to wash out, there was another 10 minutes for a "glaze". When I finally got a glimpse of the color in the mirror (I was turned around while waiting), there was a shocking ring of red around my hairline (my hair is not bright red). At this point, I had already been in the salon 2 1/2 hours and my hair was still wet. They then dried my hair a second time with two blowdryers going on simultaneously with brushes pulling on both sides of my hair. At two hours and 45 minutes into my appointment, my hair was dry, but then was just starting to be styled. But the time of the "great reveal", I had been there three hours and my hair looked like a lion's mane. I came in with light strawberry blond hair and walked out with dark red hair and shocking blonde contrasts. I was more than 30 minutes late for my event and had clown hair. Nearly $300 and three hours of tortious work for bad hair is not my idea of a good time. The bright fluorescents in the salon are not representative of what you hair will look like when you are in day light. In 18 years of dyeing my hair, this was my least favorite color ever. Like an idiot, I went back a few times after that incident hoping that they would get it right. All in, I have spent a few thousand dollars at Live Hair Group and not been impressed by the work. Last week, I went to a new place and LOVED my hair afterward. I don't think Live Hair is the right fit for me and I won't be returning-- and I would recommend that you go in with caution. read more

Dear Orange, I'm dumping you for Live Hair Group; specifically for Corey. I enjoy going to someone who explains each technique and explains the benefits of the outcome. It's truly nice to go to someone knowing that it's their niche and that they are not going through the motions just to get paid. I have long, thick, coarse, flat, obviously Asian hair. I liked the fact that: 1) He knew my type of hair 2) He's been in this profession for the past 16 years. 3) Does hair classes every Wednesday 4) Knows my complaints even before I express my dislikes. 5) Listens to what I want and my concerns 6) Knows what's currently "in". 7) Knows what best hairstyles to fit your face structure. I know almost every girl asks this inevitable oxymoron request: " I want to keep it long, but want something different" In my case I added: " I want volume, but not too many layers because I don't like the way it looks when it grows out. I want something edgy, but not anything that resembles a mullet." So I was honestly surprised that he took it in and said, "no problem". Then he preceded to explain what he would do and why. He thinned my thick hair, but kept the length with a nice trim. My hair has more volume without that many layers, and the big thing for me was my bangs. I have requested thick side swept bangs to all the places that I have been to and only one person could do it (but she went back to Japan). Others have kept saying to just train it. Yes, I get that you train it, but I KNOW there's a way to cut it. And I finally found someone. YES!!! Directions: Coming from 75, make a right on Greenville and stay on the right hand side. When you see Snuffers on the left hand side the salon will be right across from it. The sign is black so there isn't much contrast. I passed it about 3 times. :) Why four stars instead of five? Corey gets five stars. However..... Parking was a bia-tch. Granted, I knew it was in Lower Greenville, it was a Friday night, around 5 o'clock, and I prepared myself, but I was searching, and searching, and searching for a place to park. Finally, I parked in a residential area two blocks away. Normally, I would be okay about this, but it was getting dark, I was alone, and I was afraid that my car might get towed. I was put in a bad mood when I came in and I tend to treat my hair cuts as a "pampering day." No bueno. However, when Corey greeted me and offered me a drink and then took me to his station; my bad mood dissipated. Finding a new hairdresser is a terrible, stressful task. My sisters partner for 7 years was my hairdresser, then they broke up and I went to her mentor for the next 4 years. I recently moved from HEB to Dallas and had to leave my hairdresser in North Richland Hills behind. I bought a Groupon for Eleven 11 salon and had a blow out that I loved and so I went back for a haircut, that was just ok. Nothing I was that happy about. So I waited 4 months and figured it was time to suck it up and try again. Due to the great Yelp reviews, I called LHG and made an appointment for a Master stylist. I got stuck in traffic and was running super late for my appointment and so I called and asked should I reschedule, they told me to come in anyway. The front desk guy is SUPER nice. He gave me a tour, explained the parking and introduced me to the owner, Janna. Everyone was super friendly. I was then given to a different hairstylist than I originally booked without being told, so I asked it she was a Master stylist and they said no. So the owner apologized and rescheduled me for the next day. The next day I came back for my appt. with Nikki. I didn't even have to sign in - the front desk remembered my name and asked if I wanted something to drink. The owner came over and said hello - remembered me as well - crazy! And let's talk about Nikki......Wow. I have found my new stylist!! She was extremely knowledgeable. Took her time, explained every step. Explained how to style my hair, recommended products....styled it straight, then re-styled it curly just to show me options!! I will be back in 8 weeks now that I'm not so scared of what I'm in for. read more

I just got my hair recolored at Live, and it still feels like I'm going to my BFF's house to get my hair done. It's comfortable, everyone knows me there and I'm taken really great care of. This last time, I went more brown than red. Once again, Robert consulted with me until we decided on the perfect color and it's exactly what I wanted. I'm with Amanda on the point that the appointments do sometimes take a while. I know to block out a solid two hours for my color, but I would rather them take their time than rush around and rotate chairs often. I had another appointment immediately following my last visit, so I mentioned it to Tasha because we were running out of time quickly. She somehow worked up a 'do in a matter of 10 minutes... don't know how she does it, folks, but she does! read more

I'm picky. I'm detailed. I have high expectations. I'm happy :) It's been difficult to find a stylist since my move from Hawaii. I found a great one in Houston--though trial and horrific error--and now that we have moved to Dallas, it's almost like dating all over again. You don't want the mistakes you've made in the past, you set the bar even higher and you're hoping to find THE ONE. Yelp has been pretty good to me in the past, so I figured that it would help me again with my quest. The first stylist I found was EXTREMELY WELL RECEIVED on Yelp. Very sweet, and kind, but I was not pleased with my cut, nor was I pleased to see the clumps of blond hair stuck to his round brush when he went to blow dry my hair. We shall call him...The Stylist Who Shall Not Be Named. So my gun shy self decided to give it another go with Live Hair Group after I put in "dry cut" in the Yelp search. Dry cut technique always yields the best results. There are no surprises, no hair shrinkage after the blow dry so your long fringe ends up looking like baby bangs, etc. I have important events coming up, and Rachel (the salon concierge) was able to fit me in and work with my schedule. After telling her dome of my concerns she recommended Nikki to me and my appointment was set. Toting baby and stroller with me made things a touch challenging, but once we were in, I was golden. Janna (one of the owners) greeted me upon entering and took the time to talk to me before I saw Nikki. Janna shows a great regard for her customers and she really cares about making sure her customers are happy. I'm finicky about my hair. VERY FINCKY. I have straight, soft Asian hair that tends to be on the finer side. I find that a lot of stylists have difficulty with my hair or end up styling me uber Asian with the prerequisite over textured ends or super blunt straight cut. Nikki listed to me, and was patient as I showed her every cut I loved and loathed. I told her what I didn't like about my current cut, and she educated me on what had happened. As she combed my hair out, she showed me how one side had layers ONE INCH SHORTER THAT THE OTHERS!!! Oh, Stylist Who Shall Not Be Named, I think we need to re-educate you. Matt did a great job washing my hair and Elaine was so sweet to watch my baby while I was getting shampooed. Nikki blew my hair dry and began precision cutting. She was honest, informative and efficient. Everyone at Live Hair Group was so sweet, even when my baby was being less than cooperative. Nikki's focus and technique were spot on and I could see how detailed her cut was. Gradually, I saw my hair being transformed. "It's all in the layers," Nikki explained. With a few finishing touches I could see that my style had returned! I love the products that were suggested to me, and I didn't feel pressured to buy anything (although I pretty much bought it all). As I checked out, I spoke to Janna again and was so happy to hear about Live Hair Group's constant training, belief in continuous education, and belief in educating their clients. What a wonderful experience! If this were dating, I would definitely call right away and set up a second date. I'm all about long term relationships and I think I may have found THE ONE. Update: I gave Live Hair Group a try.... a solid year of haircuts before I had to call it quits. I must say that my original experience was really great and I truly enjoyed the experience but overtime I started to realize it wasn't all it's cracked up to be. Haircuts here consistently took two hours if not more.... If you are in a rush, don't be. Next, I just think I'm not hip or cool enough to go to LHG. Each time I went to Robert I explained that I am growing out my asymmetrical bob and wanted my hair to look great but most importantly GROW. After a year of haircuts that I was just satisfied with, I was left with really odd short choppy layers hidden throughout my hair. This may have been because I have thick hair and a lot of it, but I have layers in the back and around my crown that I am finally getting to normal length nearly 2 years later! When I chose a different (and highly rated) Dallas salon, the hairdresser was horrified at my haircut and asked if I let a friend cut my hair.... Needless to say: I agreed. If you like super edgy, artsy, and choppy hair- this is your place but if you want healthy normal hair.... Go elsewhere. read more

I've been here several times now, and when I first came here it was because I had done my research on where to go for someone who could handle reds. Hands down, Robert came highly recommended. When I moved here from Boston, I thought I'd never be as happy as I was with my colorist Derek from Pure (whom I had followed from Liquid), who always got my reds JUST SO AWESOME and had the personality to boot. But I am happy to say that I will never go anywhere else in Dallas and Robert's (and Live Hair Group's) reputation is well deserved. First of all, he and his sister Janna really seem to do a fantastic job running this place. All the staff really get along, always seem to be in a good mood (or at least pleasant enough!) and there is very much a family vibe to the whole operation. I remember on my first visit that Janna seemed to go out of her way to make sure I was happy and liking my hair. (I forget who actually worked on my hair that time, but no complaints.) I hope the staff are as genuinely happy to work here as they seem, because that's how it feels--without being Stepford! Kenny does a great job running the front, he's very friendly, pleasantly chatty and happy to fill (or re-fill) your wine! (Not that I ever drink more than one...hahaha, ok, lies.) I think my initial appt was hella long (as other Yelpers have complained) but in truth, that has not been a problem since. Maybe it's because I found April, but we'll get to that. Even if my appt DID run on the long side, it'd be worth it. Just don't be in a rush--what fun is that, anyway? So Robert orchestrates the coloring and what look you're after, someone else does the application. After my first appt, my color was good and I was happy, but it wasn't quite right. So the second time I brought another pic and explained and this time they NAILED it. I also got paired with April that time, who did the application and also styled my hair beautifully. I always request her now and she always does a freaking amazing job. Seriously, she even suggested dabbling on a little color for my eyebrows while she was at it. DETAILS. I adore her. So the part I want to selfishly keep to myself is Friday happy hour. Fridays from 3-7 for TEN BUCKS they will style your hair. Come in without product in your hair and BAM. They make you look like a goddess for ten bucks. That's INSANE. Someone needs to make a list of the 10-20 most awesome badass deals you can do in Dallas, and not only would that make the list, it would be damn near the top. read more

This one is for the guys: After moving to Dallas for a bout a year now and surveying and trying out all the salons near uptown. I've finally found a good one. I don't know if you had this experience, but it feels like guys getting haircuts in salons are treated somewhat like a second class citizens. ( i think it's due to the brevity of the cuts and the low demand). That is not the case at Live Hair Group. Sure, if you walk in and look, the decor isn't as hip or stylish as some of the other salons around, but last time i checked, hair is cut with scissors, not fancy barstools or brand new furniture. And if you ask them about their tools and compare it to other salons, you will realize they take it very seriously. I'd say that's emphasizing the right things as a salon. Robert seems to be the man around that place. Once you get acquainted with him, you'll realize he's really a master of his craft. I would call him the Yoda of hair, but it's a bit nerdy. And after you see his awesome mustache, you'll realize Houdini would be a more appropriate metaphor. After seeing him work, I really feel like I've been paying 40 dollars at other salons to get a supercuts haircut, and to some degree, i have. I know nothing about hair or styling. Yet the difference is clear as day. This place is more professional, talented, and skillful than any other place in Dallas. If you're still on the fence, give this place a call. I guarantee you will not regret it. I know if anyone asked me about a recommendation, this is the only place i'd tell them. It took me a little while to really think about my experience here. I will say I thought the service was really awesome and the inside of the salon looked very cute and cool. I really like that they washed my hair, blow-dried it and then cut it! I've had many salons cut my hair while it's wet and it looks awful when they're done. What I don't like is the ends of my hair. All the cuts are very straight across. Even though it is slightly layered , each layer is cut horizontally. I noticed this when I was there and I had her touch it up a bit. I was hoping that it would look better when I blow dry it my lazy way at home. I think it just looks worse. They did say that if I want more layers or need something fixed that I can come back but I really don't have the time and it seems this is just the way they cut hair. I don't want more layers cut straight across and I don't want to tell them how to cut hair either because I don't want to be rude. I didn't get much time to really look at my hair because she started to curl it. I really appreciated the styling but I honestly didn't really like it either. Once I got home and work the curls around, it looked good and it did last a long time. I think I'm pretty much done with salons in Dallas. I think I'll just beg my husband to cut my hair. He's not a professional but he has skillz he won't admit to. Since I don't have time to come back, I'll probably just cut some angles into my hair to break up the straight lines. Kristie A. is right on in her review of Live Hair Group. I love my haircut! I have thick, thick hair that easily becomes poofy and never stays styled for long. I showed Tasha a photo of the general length and style I wanted and told her I needed some layering to keep the thickness manageable. Now, there are a few different kinds of layers. There' early-90's Jen Aniston layers, which is what most salons do when you ask for layers. I'm SO thankful for Tasha's method, a gradual thinning that really made my hair more manageable than it's ever been. Tasha showed me a fun way to style it, but I can also get away with barely any styling - which totally rocks on busy mornings. Live Hair Group does dry cuts, which means you actually see what the haircut looks like while they're cutting it. That's harder on the hairdresser but better for customer satisfaction! Janna at the front desk is SO friendly and fun, and you can tell immediately that customer loyalty is high. Five stars for a perfect haircut! read more

I came with Kristie A and two Jessicas (O and B) for fun girltime happy hour curls, so I haven't taken full advantage of everything this AWESOME place offers ...but holy crud did I enjoy the heck out of it! The atmosphere is fun and lively, and everyone is super friendly and mingling constantly. Kenny might be my favorite, since he is in charge of the wine ...but every last person is great. On the MAGICAL CHAIRS OF MAGICAL CURLING MAGIC side, you also hang with the threading lady (speedy perfectionist who was also giving some lucky woman a brow and temple massage) and Andrea the makeup lady (who made Kristie look super extra foxxy, and then couldn't help herself and pearlied up around the eyes of a Jessica and I). And! Our curls were all awesome, and all different. All that for $10 each. That shit cray. And my hair is going strong on day two... whaaat?! That never happens with my stubborn hair. Never! Laurel put some serious magic on it; I believe her exact words were, "if THAT doesn't make it hold...". And she was right. I know where to come next time I need awesome hair that cannot be constructed by my mere mortal hands. So basically, it was rad and I will be back. read more

I love this place! Even with all the great reviews I was skeptical and it took a while for me to decide to try it, but I'm really glad I did. I would never have thought I would have an awesome experience getting a haircut but I did! I'm not sure what exactly it is, but LHG is warm, friendly, family-like, and a party all at the same time. I'm a 60 YO male and thought I might be uncomfortable coming here, but not at all. I got a quick tour of the place from Janna and was introduced to Laurel. Laurel was great and listened attentively to me explain (ramble about) my situation. I showed her pictures of previous haircuts. Didn't want to do those again, so I explained that I wanted something different that would look good on me but I had no idea what I wanted. I've been trying to figure out a new look for the last couple of years with no luck. And I had serious doubts that someone would know what to do with my hair since I had no clue what I wanted. But Laurel knew just what to do and quickly got started. The result is awesome! The best cut I've had in years if not ever. My wife loved it and I got compliments from others too. What a great place Janna and Robert have created! I can't imagine going anywhere else. They've spoiled me! And like everyone else - loved the shampoo lying down! read more

Finding a good new hair stylist is an essential find after you move to a new place - right up there with an honest mechanic, a good tailor, and a dry cleaner that won't lose your clothes. I decided to try Live Hair Group after a friend recommendation and some generally glowing Yelp recommendations and was really glad I did. I have had my share of 20 minute Supercuts haircuts that look like you paid $15 in my day. The experience at LHG was just really comfortable - totally unlike my awkward experience at FACE for Men last summer (read my review...ugh). Janna is very cool and hospitable - if it hadn't been 11am on a Wednesday, I definitely would have had a beer! I never realized how awkwardly weird those porcelain sinks that most places use to wash your hair until today when I laid down on the washing station table to get my pre-cut wash. Very natural and comfortable without the strange neck crick you normally get. Gabriel cut my hair and did a great job of making sure he fully understood what I wanted in advance and then giving me a great haircut. It was exactly what I wanted. We also had a nice time chatting and the whole experience was just very chill and relaxed. I think the two criticisms I read about parking challenges on Greenville and the longer duration of the cuts might be fair. Mine took about an hour. I have certainly had haircuts last 20-30 minutes before, but I am sure that if I told Gabriel that I had something I needed to be at, he would have adjusted the timeline accordingly. Also, one of the big draws for me of LHG is that they are open until 10pm and you can get a cut after work. I also think the pricing was really fair and a good value - from the calls I made in advance of scheduling my cut, you can expect to like 50% more than what LHG charges you for the same haircut at most of the other nicer places here in Dallas. Overall, I was very pleased and am definitely planning on going back for my next haircut! read more

While I still stand by the details of my last review experience because I still love their happy hour special, I wanted to share a recent incident. In hope to have my hair blown out for my Thursday evening office party, I went online looking for places for a reasonable deal and availability. On the Live Hair Group site. I was pleasantly surprised that I was able to book the Happy Hour blow out for a Thursday appointment!! Not to get too excited, I called them to confirm that this was legit and was told that it was! Yay! After the excitement was over, I remember the woman on the phone saying "it should be fine." Knowing how upset I'd be if I got there, and something didn't work out, I called again. I was told that their happy hour didn't start till 5... I asked her, "Oh, well I was able to book it online and my party starts at 5, could they make an exception?" She went to check and when she returned, she said, "No, our happy hour is actually only for Friday and if it was Friday, then I could make the exception." Which would have been nice... I told them they really needed to fix their online booking because it allowed me to confirm a service they actually don't provide (on 6 out of 7 days). She said "OK" and that was that... It was really disappointing and frustrating since it is the holiday time and I was really excited. To me, they should have honored this goof and then fixed it to prevent other mishaps. I'm glad I called so I didn't end paying a lot more for a service. read more

Amazing. So worth it. If you are a first time client Jana likes to talk to you before you make your first appointment. They are a very busy salon so don't be put off if it takes a little bit from them to call you back. The experience is well worth. Tasha cut my hair and while it took a little longer than your typical salon, I left with perfection. Best style I have had in 12 years! I showed her a picture of the idea I was going for and she tailored it to fit my face. They don't BS here and tell you something is going to look good if it isn't. They want you to leave happy. The salon experience its self is fantastic. Great customer service. They go above and beyond. Fun music, fun people, all around fantastic! read more
