BUYER BEWARE! I…read morebelieve Britt J. (the current owner and president of Britton & Associates) unscrupulously takes advantage of his customers and employees. I was happy to pay the nearly $100,000 quoted in our initial landscape and maintenance proposal; however, when the quality of the work fell far below our agreement, Britt demanded an additional $25,000 to do what he had already been paid to do. When company employees agreed the work was not completed as agreed and attempted to honor their initial agreement, Britt would not allow it. Below is a more detailed explanation of my experience. I hired Britton & Associates to prepare my yard for my son's wedding. I worked with them for about 9 months and paid them nearly $100,000 for both landscape installation and maintenance work. The first 6 months went well. We worked with Barbara and John (Barbara, vice president, and John, landscape architect) and had a nice experience. Although quite expensive they were worth it because the work was very good and if there were problems, they pleasantly rectified them. This abruptly changed when Britt, the owner of the company, returned from an undisclosed 2-year leave of absence. I first noticed the change when they gave us a bid to repair some tile on our spa. The price seemed exceptionally high so I got another bid for nearly half the price. Shortly thereafter I noticed the quality of Britton's maintenance work was deteriorating quickly. I attempted to contact Barbara only to learn she was no longer with the company. John, the landscape architect, agreed to meet on property and was embarrassed and apologetic at the condition of our yard. He assured me even though the wedding was fast approaching he would make sure the company's commitments were honored and our yard would be ready. Shortly thereafter the owner (Britt) informed me by email the cost to rectify these issues would be an additional $25,000. I was stunned because just days before John had sheepishly admitted the subpar condition of our yard was due to Britton's horrible maintenance work. Now, just weeks before the wedding, my back was against the wall. I contacted John again and he awkwardly apologized and said there was nothing more he could do. Within a week he was also no longer employed with the company. Now both of the employees I had worked with were gone and the owner (Britt) completely disregarded and refused to honor the company's agreements. In the end I refused to be extorted. Rather than pay Britton & Associates the additional $25,000 demanded to complete the work they had already been paid for, I hired another company who happily cleaned up and repaired the mess Britton & Associates left. And they did it for $5,000.

And lay out the gravel and such... Man it's gorgeous. :D Their regular service is just that. Regular mow/blow/edge, always do an even job with nice lines and price just a little lower per week than most offer in our hood. AND they fixed my irrigation system. Hooray Lawn Mowgul!

I haven't seen their work or their prices yet but after speaking to them on the phone and…read morescheduling for them to come out and give me a quote on service for my property, I have high hopes! I will be sure to update my review based on fairness of price and quality of work. Promised update: they came out once to do an overall cleanup to get the property on track and did a good job, though I'm no expert. Not sure how fair their price is (I do have a corner lot on a cul de sac) but it ran us $270. From there, we were supposed to get on a biweekly service for $35 (which seemed pretty reasonable) but my service apparently was never implemented. They were supposed to come out 3 times in November and never did. When I got around to calling about it (I have a 3 month old; if you have kids, you'll understand) today, I was told they'd probably have to come out to do another cleanup. I explained I really didn't want to pay another almost $300 just because they failed to implement the plan we agreed on and was told (albeit nicely) while someone there did "drop the ball", it's my fault for waiting a month to notice and call them. Second update: We cancelled our service after they broke our gate getting into our yard and were seen throwing sticks into our neighbors yard. Terrible!
