This is a great comic book store that recently popped up at Tempe Marketplace. It is a nice shop. A great selection of comics. There is a new little cafe at the back with cimfy couches and chairs. Absolute thieves. I left thousands of dollars worth of merchandise on consignment with them and they sold a bunch of it over the course of several months, then claimed it was stolen by an employee. They never paid me a dime for any of it, and when they moved to their new location everything was gone. read more

Never give your business to this store. You'll be left disappointed. I called them in February before putting in an order for the Magic the Gathering: Final Fantasy Collector Booster Box to verify that they had enough allocation and that their online listing for it was not a mistake. They told me that if it is up then they have allocation. Fast forward to June when the set releases. I had to find out via reddit that Strange Adventures said that they do not have enough allocation to fill orders and instead would do a *raffle* vs queue order. They said they would post who won the raffle the following day. This never happened. They also said if you want to get a refund on your preorder, you need to *e-mail* them (vs them initiating the refund). There's also other reports of customers getting charged post-announcement as well. I've sent an inquiry e-mail days ago with no response. Fortunately, I finally found out that I could cancel the order from the Shopify web page directly (I don't think I saw the option via app) and was able to do so there. Ehhh a year later and its gone down hill. I was really excited to see this place come up. The workers aren't very friendly. Now before we get our panties in a twist, hear me out. 1 star review for unfriendliness of the workers. We walked around the whole store and looked at what was around and nobody acknowledged us. There was a iron man bobble head that was marked with a bright orange sticker on it saying "$6.99". Go to the register and was told the total was $16 and some change. My boyfriend pointed out the sticker on the front and the male worker tried to take it off right in front of us. A lot of the funko pops in this place have brightly orange priced stickers on the front. A lot of them are marked down. Now most places of business would honor something how its advertised. Guess what? Not here. They don't really care about honoring their own wrong pricing or apologizing. They are more focused on conversating with each other (workers). Don't go here. Highly recommend staying away from this business. Saw this store opening pre-orders for a Pokémon card collection release. Destined rivals. Multiple friends and myself placed pre-orders, and this business happily took our money. Weeks go by, no communication. Months go by no communication. A dozen emails sent to them, but no response, and no update. Ended up issuing chargeback through the credit card used to make the purchase. Unfortunately, people I know had their chargeback disputes resolved in favor of this business. All of this could have been resolved by strange adventures voluntarily canceling the orders they were unable to fulfill, or at a bare minimum responding to any one of the dozen emails. Again, highly recommend people stay away from giving the store any business. read more

CERTIFYING SHIT SHOW! is the best way to explain my situation with this business. I turned in a comic to get CGC'd on September 29th. They informed me this could take 2 months and I said that is fine this is a Christmas gift (which is a lot of time I can wait). The date is October 15th, and I was excited, so I called Strange Adventures for an update? SA said, "We have not sent it out, but we are waiting for a few more comics to send as a whole pack, But as soon as we get enough comics we will send it out". I said "cool". November 27th ( a whole month and some change passed) is the second time I called SA for an update and which SA informed me that they have not received the comics back yet because they are still being certified and should be receiving them back in the next couple of weeks. I said "sweet! As long as it's in the process". My third attempt I come to inquire about my certified comic was on December 10th, I came in to the store spoke to a tall gentleman named Cory and inquired about my graded comic book. He informed me that they have not received any comics yet, but they should be receiving them back very soon and that they will give me a call once it is in, I calmly said ok and if I don't hear back are you Ok if I give you a call. Cory said that is fine. The date is now December 23rd, (f**king sad) I called and spoke to Cory, and he said we do not have anything yet, let me call my boss and get back to you to find out where its at. I said fine and received a call back 2 hours later from Cory informing me that they never sent it out, my comic to get graded and that they still have it sitting in the same place for 2 months. OK, I'm truly pissed because I gave these incompetent A$$holes my business and trusted them to do a simple job. Now a Christmas gift was ruined! 2 months was plenty of time to get something certified or inform earlier that it was not sent out, so I could have gotten it out early with someone else or do it myself. Buyer, please beware of these dipshits if you choose to give them your business. I waited 2 months, and now I'm empty-handed for Christmas. Buyer be aware - AVOID Pre-orders for TCGs through this store! Am legit saving you a ton of headache and heartache! :/ My statement sounds odd right? This business is a legit brick and mortar (which is typically a solid indicator of a legit business)...oof well, they have justified collecting vast amounts of pre-orders from customers of which they do not have stock / inventory / allocations from distributors for - as a holy war fight against the system Tease you not - am shocked that this behavior is not illegal and they haven't been blacklisted by credit card companies or a government agency Here's their bad faith scam - On Pokemon Destined Rivals they collected over 5,000+ orders from customers - with unlimited purchase quantities and they received 0 products and finally after the release date came clean and canceled ALL the orders placed by customers They did the same thing with the MtG Final Fantasy release - they collected thousands upon thousands of pre-orders...and their total allocations amounted to around 20 products...so the same situation has happened with all customer's orders being canceled The thing that doesn't add up - is our several hundred dollar payment to them has not been refunded - and we're having to do a charge back through the credit card company Would seem these guys may know exactly what they're doing? Sounds like they may have done this scheme over and over again...one might speculate that maybe they are counting on a percentage (%) of customers forgetting about their credit card charges? If so, these guys can cash in on those orders that were canceled but still charged? Not sure if that is true or not - but it sure does seem suspicious that despite your order being canceled by them you still have to pay attention and contact their customer support to get a refund? No matter how you look at that situation...that does not make sense? Again - have never seen what appears to be a bad faith well orchestrated effort by a legit business to defraud customers. Cannot believe this is legal. Cannot believe they have done this multiple times on multiple product releases (even prior to Destined Rivals & Final Fantasy). The worst thing is - they're now doing the exact same thing on the MtG Edges of Eternities & Spider Man releases...if you are considering making a pre-order purchase would recommend being very cautious as the odds of you actually getting any product from this business is likely low - very low...so proceed with caution Will the same situation unfold again with the next big Pokemon & MtG release? Well...given this situation has happened multiple times now...LoL you may want to be cautious Am really hopeful someone that can do something about this reads this review (and so many others) and looks in to this for us. They provided no updates on their 'lottery' and just went ahead and charged everyone's cards. This place should receive ZERO allocation for anything from WoTC because it's nothing but a scam. I came in here as a person who is very new to comics. While the store was slightly intimidating due to the extensive selection, I was greeted by Em, who made comic buying so much easier. I told them a little about myself, and they could easily give me recommendations based on the little I knew about comics and the information I gave them. I went home and read all the comics I bought that day before. I was highly impressed at how great Em was at giving comic book recommendations and her overall welcoming attitude. It was clear that Em deeply cares about comics and makes every customer feel welcome when they enter the store.
