Lys at Strange Bird is incredible! Great with short hair and texture. They really took the time to understand me, my hair type, and what would actually look good on me. Also took time to teach me how to maintain it to keep it looking good. I've been home for a minute and my husband has looked over at me several times and told me how great my haircut looks and how it matches my personality. I wanted a curtain bang to add to the bob I already had but I wanted it to be chunky cuts with layers of some sort and didn't really know how to describe it. They took it from there and nailed it better than I could have imagined. Gave me tons of texture for my partially curly/wavy/straight hair that really works for me. I had such a lovely experience here! The staff was very friendly. I love the safe space they have created and what they stand for. I went to see Lys to correct a pixie cut and give my look an update. They really took their time explaining what options I had and how to style it. I was so happy with the results and experience, I made sure to book my next appointment immediately. My hair has been a roller coaster lately and I was having a hard time finding out what worked for me/what to ask for but Ruby made me feel so so confident after my hair cut! I went from feeling like my hair was so flat and not something I could be comfy in, to being primarily complimented on my hair and actually taking pictures of myself again. I originally found Breezy at Scruffs Barbershop on South 1st and liked her so much I followed her to Strange Bird Salon. After checking out her Instagram, I really dug the cuts she was putting out and her overall vibe. I was daring to try a burst fade mullet (even at 51) - and she absolutely delivered! Breezy's awesome. She's easy to talk to, empathetic, and really listens to her clients. She brings superb professionalism to each visit. The fact that she teaches other stylists tells you everything about how good she is and how much she cares about her craft. But seriously - if that's not enough for you, go for her shampoo and scalp massage alone. It's INCREDIBLE. At Strange Bird the shampoo station is like a little spa with ambient chill music and the whole vibe is so relaxing. Simply put, Breezy just gets it. Can't recommend her enough! read more

If I could give 0 stars, I would. I booked an appointment and had to cancel just 45 minutes later due to a work conflict. Instead of understanding, the salon is charging me 50% of the haircut cost--$180--for an appointment I never even had the chance to sit down for. When I called to explain, the manager was condescending and completely unhelpful. I politely asked if they could make an exception since I had only booked less than an hour earlier, but she flat-out refused. Extremely disappointing experience and terrible customer service. read more

Kascidy - aka "funkeecuts " is phenomenal. I was able to DM her on instagram with a few questions about what I wanted/needed, and get in the following week for a cut. She gave me my dream hair! Now, about a month later (my hair grows so fast) I was able to DM her last night at 6 P.M. needing a bang trim / touch up, and she got me in at 2:00 P.M. today to fix it up, and it only took about a half hour. She is truly a gem and I will be with her for life! The place itself is very cute, everyone is stylish and sweet and they always welcome you + ask you if you want a beverage upon entry. 10/10 would recommend, she is an angel and the whole place gives the safest and kindest vibe. read more
