We wanted to fill up on gas before "going over the mountain". GPS led us to the New Star Market/Shell Gas Station, which was only about a mile off I-81 and directly on our route. The self-service gas area was a bit congested, but we squeezed behind a parked pickup to get to a pump. Gas prices were excellent at $2,75/gallon. I went to check out the small convenience store. They seemed to have pretty much everything that a traveler might want or need, including snacks, a deli, and more. Many other reviewers have mentioned BBQ, and an outdoor sign, advertised this as well. Somehow, my husband and I both missed this -- probably because it wasn't lunch time for us yet! We'll have to check it out again upon our return. The cashier was friendly and polite. Restrooms were outside and clean. .

I originally declined the propane tank monitor so I could schedule refills on my own, when I needed…read moreit. Holtzman added the monitor without asking me, charging more than $200. Then, they failed to monitor it resulting in my propane tank going empty during a snow storm. They won't deliver unless they can see gravel or pavement so my tank was empty for more than 3 weeks. When temps don't get above 25 degrees, the snow/ice isn't melting. Even worse, they required that I send them photos of the road when it was clear so they knew they could see it, otherwise it was a $125 fee for them trying to deliver unsuccessfully. Sadly, I know another customer of theirs who was having the same issue and actually had to stay in a hotel until Holtzman would deliver. Because propane is my heat source, my pipes froze and I had to get plumbers to fix everything. Even though they broke the contract by not delivering, I will be charged a cancellation fee (~$125) AND "restocking" fee to cancel the contract. Also, I called multiple civil litigation lawyers in the area but most of them have represented Holtzman resulting in a conflict. That in itself should tell you something. There are plenty of better competitors who ensure their customers don't run out. I highly suggest skipping Holtzman and going with someone else.

Watch out for Holtzman Propane. I strongly advocate not to use them as a service provider. In the…read morefew months I used them for service, I caught them jumping my fence and trying to fill my tank when I wasn't home, charging my credit on unauthorized charges, pressuring me to let them into my home to collect data, and refusing to service me because I wouldn't grant them access into my home and they couldn't produce legal documentation stating that I had to grant them access. This is a terrible company.

I was being followed by one of the associates who assumed I was a shoplifter. I understand protecting the merchandise but don't single me out make sure you treat everyone else that way. I hope to not have to stop here again.
