The small number that do have reviews are severely panned as well so I want to inject a little positivity to the discourse here. Now, this is not a review of the car insurance industry in general, and LA Insurance seems to be a go-between from various insurance companies and the consumer. (Progressive has the best rates. If you call with a question about your policy they'll be like "Who do you have? Progressive? ")A fence, if you will, between thieves and those who fork over hard earned cash. But, being that as it may, this tiny office on Jefferson Ave. at least provides good customer service. For legal reasons I won't say that in the past I've utilized the infamous "Seven Day Save", a week long insurance policy that the buyer uses to renew their tabs and upon expiration takes their chances and "rides dirty". But IF I HAD LA Insurance is an excellent place to engage in such a practice. See, car insurance rates here are downright usurous. Downright rapey, in fact. Detroit has the highest car insurance rates in the nation and lots of folks here are broke as shit. So LA Insurance provides a sneaky lifeline to lots of would be drivers. This location isn't close to a Secretary of State but many are. I just had to junk my high mileage SUV as the transmission is going kaput - it's still waiting to be towed - but I've been walking the straight and narrow for quite some time, making those outrageous payments to the folks behind the bulletproof glass here. And they've actually been very pleasant and chatty. There's a man and a woman that work here. Either one is here or the other. I should know their names but I've never asked. They both some pretty alright though, so I focus my resentment on giant faceless corporation Progressive - don't be fooled by Flo, they're still an awful lesser evil - and spare the two clerks here any ire. I've never had to wait for more than one other customer, five minutes tops and when I do they always apologize for the wait. Usually I just walk right up. (I'm probably pretty old school for not just paying electronically.) Hopefully, some laws get changed to stop the gouging of us hapless drivers around here. Until then if you're scraping cash together for No Fault month to month or just getting your week long golden ticket, LA Insurance is the best game in town. It's still far from good, but it's the best you'll do and again, they at least act friendly at this location.
