We were in town for the Festival and needed a quick and easy lunch that didn't consist of burgers and fries. My son spotted Stratford Thai and we decided to try it. It's a small restaurant, I don't know if they take reservations but if they do you should make one. Service was friendly but spotty. We were seated promptly, got our menus right away but we had to remind our server that we ordered wine to go with our meals. Onto the food, the food is the reason it's got 5 stars. My son is a connoisseur of Thai food and he said his basil stir fry was the best he ever had. I had Panang curry and it was so good I used my serving spoon to eat all of the sauce. My granddaughter ordered the Pho. I've had Pho before and this was as good as I've ever had. The next time I go to Stratford this will be one of the places I plan on eating read more

Clean and cozy little restaurant with friendly, helpful staff. We ordered off the lunch menu and I enjoyed the Pineapple Chicken Currry with the side of Spring Rolls (you have a choice between the spring rolls or salad). Fragrant Jasmine rice also accompanied this dish. It was absolutely delicious! Crispy spring rolls with a light, delicate dipping sauce. Savory flavor bomb of coconut curry with just a hint of heat. There was a decent amount of chicken breast and the bell peppers and pineapple were a perfect balance to this wonderful dish. My friend ordered the vegetable stir fry with a side of pineapple which she said was delicious. It also came with Jasmine rice. I hope to visit again before we return to the States. The service is quick and friendly; and the restaurant does a bustling takeout trade given the steady stream of pickups. We had the street pad Thai and Basil Chicken Fried Rice. Beautiful presentation, delicious and creative dishes (coconut seafood is a must try; it's in a real coconut!), but uneven and slow service even when restaurant was empty. Seafood comes in a coconut (very creative and beautiful presentation). Portion may be small for some people. Mango salmon is nice. Extensive menu (relatively speaking). Nice patio outside (not a lot of car noise). Came for lunch on Saturday July 22 and then dinner on July 23 (lack of choices in Stratford), and service was slow and inattentive both times. For lunch they even forgot our drink order despite us walking inside to remind them (and they said yes would bring drinks out). No drink, not even after we finished eating. My boyfriend and I saw this place while exploring the area to find a place for lunch on a Sunday afternoon. We were warmly greeted by a young lady and she gave us a seat by the window. To start off, we ordered two bubble teas with pearls, strawberry and mango. For appetizer, I picked Curry Puffs (3 pieces, golden pastry crust filled with potatoes, onion, shallots and curry powder) and my boyfriend chose a bowl of chicken soup (made it extra spicy). For the main, I ordered Panang Curry with chicken (sweeter and milder Thai curry with kaffir lime leaves, peanut and panang curry paste) and my boyfriend ordered Red Curry with chicken (red chilies paste in coconut milk with bamboo shoots, carrots, sweet peppers, basil leaves and green beans). The Curry Puffs were delicious! The exterior was crunchy and the inside was soft and exploding with flavour. My boyfriend enjoyed the chicken soup, he said that the chicken pieces were juicy and the broth had so much flavour. Our mains were also delicious! Plus, the portion sizes were generous. The curries were full of flavour- the Panang Curry was a a bit sweet and mild and the Red Curry was a bit spicy. Throughout our meal, the young lady came by to check-in on us and to make sure that we had everything that we needed. Our first night in town my BF wanted to get takeout from this place since they had the best reviews of any Thai place in the area. We both started with the snow coconut soup with veggies. We didn't expect to see any tofu inside and were a bit surprised. The texture also threw us off, but otherwise the soup was delicious. For my main course I ordered the pineapple fried rice with veggies. Again, I wasn't expecting there to be any tofu inside but there was. It had a strange, rubbery texture and a flavour which was off-putting. Despite this being called pineapple fried rice I only had 4-5 tiny cubes of pineapple that were clearly from a can. The flavour of the rice was also strange- about halfway through my meal I started to feel sick to my stomach and couldn't eat any more. My BF ordered the pad see ew with chicken and said his meal was OK but not great. Sadly, if we're in town again we won't be stopping in. read more

Nice restaurant interior. Menu is well priced with your classic Thai dishes to choose from. Tom yum soup 3/5 Broth is very light, could use a lot more flavour. Didn't skimp on the chicken though Pad Thai 2/5 Definitely falls behind other versions I've had in the past. Sauce is too plain and was on the dry side. This restaurant has tasty food with reasonable portion sizes in a nice but small space. Service was very quick and helpful, although we did have to catch the waiter's attention a couple times for water refills. I had the cold rolls, which were really good--there were way more veggies (and pineapple, which was an interesting but delicious combo) than rice noodles, which I always like. They were cut so that I didn't have any rice wrapper ends; while this meant there was a higher ratio of filling, it also made them a little difficult to eat unless I ate them in one bite. The eggplant delight was pretty good as well. It was a little bland at first, but I added chili garlic sauce which brought some much-needed heat to the table and rounded out the oiliness of the stir fry. Overall, a good experience. read more

What a wonderful, quaint Thai restaurant in the heart of Stratford. We came here last night for dinner with some friends who live in Stratford. They had mentioned this place was good, so we had to try it out. Stratford is such a historic small town, even the front of this place looked historic and timeless. We walked into the restaurant, which is surprisingly very small, and was seated within seconds. Although it was quite busy for a Monday night, there were seats available in this small place. We were handed menus, and browsed it for a couple moments, starting with the cold rolls as an appetizer. I settled on the vegetable pad thai, and my boyfriend had the yellow curry. The service was unbelievably fast, not fast where the food suffered, the food was excellent. It was hot and flavourful. My pad thai was full of veggies, and the yellow curry my boyfriend ordered was tasty and mild. We were very hungry, and gobbled everything up quite quickly. There was hardly anything leftover on my plate. The servers were on top of everything, filling our waters, making sure our plates were taken on time, asking us how everything was; it was all excellent. The ambience was quiet, it was nice to hear the conversations from our group. I think because the seating area was a small, it was more personable and intimate. I enjoyed every moment of our meal last night, and will definitely be coming back in the future. Called to order pick up and it was ready relatively quick and super easy. We ordered the appetizer platter, pad Thai, panang curry and two orders of mango sticky rice. The spring rolls and cold rolls in the appetizer platter was really ho hum. The satay chicken skewers and calamari was excellent! Pad Thai was delicious and the curry was even better. I thought the food here was good but pretty average as far as Thai restaurants go. I've had much, much better at other places. My chicken pad Thai was only somewhat flavorful and a bit dry. This is a good place for take out and I will give it another chance - especially given the reasonable prices. I had to ask for some chilis on the side to give it some kick. I am used to Thai food with complexity and soul. These fell flat. Went for dinner tonight at Stratford Thai...enjoyed it immensely!!! Had the green papaya salad and shrimp rolls to start and shared the pineapple chicken curry and pad Thai with my husband. This is our third time here and this time it wasn't as impressive as before. We ordered hot and sour soup, chilli chicken and chicken fried rice. On average the food was not flavourfull enough and not nearly hot enough in spite of the fact that I asked for super spicy chilli chicken. The fried rice was kinda mushy and soggy and the hot and sour soup was just not right either. On the other side the ingredients were good and the service was good. I Ordered "Chicken Curry with Cucumber Salad" After my order arrived, I asked where my cucumber salad was. The waitress said "Oh it doesn't normally come with salad" ??? I showed her the menu which clearly said "With cucumber salad". Which is the whole reason why I ordered it. She said she would go and ask... She came back with the tiniest "salad" I have ever seen, and gave it to me with no apology whatsoever. Not a word. The "salad" was literally one spoonful, and made up of one slice of cucumber cut up. Visited here on Mother's day without a reservation and although the place was quite busy,we got a table immediately (hence the 1 star) Service was sloppy as in they never took our beverage orders. Granted when the server came to get our food order we didn't say what beverages we wanted then either! Only because she asked,'what dishes can i start you off with?' My husband and i asked for 'SUPER SPICY' food because we love very spicy food. If this was their idea of hot,then i'd hate to know what a non-spicy dish must be like. Anyway i decided to go ahead and ask for fresh chopped chillis that would've been certain to give the food some 'kick' to it...............sadly they said their kitchen had NONE and brought me a vinegar laden supposed chilli sauce that wouldn't cause even a toddler to break into a sweat!!! Service was slow but we could see the place was busy. VERY disappointed by the food there. WIll not be returning to give this place a second chance.
