No, In fact I'd say it's worse, as I wonder if anyone is actually keeping an eye on these people as to the pesticide levels. They are terribly rude and overpriced on top of it! If you read the dirty dozen and the clean 15 it gives you recommendations for which items you should buy all means get organic all the time and which items you don't have to worry about. Peaches and blueberries with their thin skin are things that one should get organic. Support organic growers.

There are 6 greenhouses to explore, each filled with tables of organic vibrant healthy flowers and vegetable seedlings and potted plants. The hanging baskets of flowers are gorgeous, especially the petunia mixes and the huge luscious brilliant orange and yellow trailing nasturtiums. The birds are singing, it smells great and the owner is so nice and wonderfully helpful if you have any questions. The prices are so reasonable. Even if you aren't sure if you need anything, go there and wander around. You will walk away feeling calmer and with a smile on your face. If I hadn't looked up local nurseries I never would've known they were there, it's definitely a pleasant surprise to find this adorable farm tucked away where I never would've guessed! My birthday passed recently and the only two things I told my family I wanted to do were get boba tea and go to the nursery. Golden Acres was my choice and I'm so glad it was. I was very impressed by the variety and amount of plants they had, there was tons to choose from! They have numerous greenhouses open at various times with seasonal veggies, perennials, annuals, etc. I love that they are organic and make a point to feature what they do and don't use. I am more of an ornamental gardener who only does a few edibles, but I still try to stay organic and it meant alot to me how transparent they were about their practices. The signs at each greenhouse with pricing and variety were extremely helpful and the way it was setup almost on a trail that you followed to each greenhouse (with various plants also set up outside) made it easy to look at everything without getting too turned around. All the plants looked very happy and healthy and I didn't see any visible pests while browsing. They were close to closing when we stopped by but they never rushed us or acted inconvenienced that we were still there. I ended up purchasing 2 6pk coleus starts - wizard mix and rainbow mix (with plans to return and purchase more plants once I had more time and money), and they were very reasonably priced, transplanted wonderfully and all 12 are thriving. I was extremely impressed by Golden Acres and can't wait to go back. Highly recommend!

The Dudley Farm Museum is a gem. The docents were extremely knowledgeable. The museum captures…read morefarm life from 1854 which is amazing and serves to understand how life arrived at where it is today. There is also a Quinnipiac native American museum building colocated on the site which capsulizes native American life in CT from over 12,000 years ago just after the glaciers receded. It takes a moment to grasp the significance of the timeline, but there are a number of stone tools and spear/arrow heads dating back 12,000 years! Incredible! There are over a dozen specialty buildings on the site representing an enterprise of some scale. The docent revealed very interesting information regarding the State of CT's relationship with the South and its slaveholding situation and relatively late abolition of slavery. Excellent museum not adequately advertised.
