Arriving, we found a trim, inviting Front Street, Hotel Prairie on the east end. Juniper Dining Room closed Monday and Tuesday. This cornerstone of days gone by is a labor of love. I got a bed and breakfast feeling mixed with vacation stay faborite feeling. There's a community kitchen at the end of the hall - for those awkward Monday and Tuesday morning meals. It is an old hotel, redone well. Our room was quiet, sleep deep. The bathroom had a handicap shower if we were inclined. Our headboard was a reused old door. Very nice. If you are headed through or to Prairie City and day is running low, Try Hotel Prairie. We would again.

The room is what I would call 'refreshed old'. It's been given a bit of a facelift with flooring and furniture etc. You can see the several layers of paint in some areas. In a former timber town with limited opportunities, closed businesses aren't that rare. We had to double back to it. Not sure how it is in the summer, but if you like sleeping in a cold room, this was that rare place (in April) where partner did not immediately turn on the AC full bore. No need to do that this time, nor even to mess with the temp. Not sure how well the warming works because we never wanted it. If there was a major frustration, I'd say it was thin walls. All the signs (too many) that tell you what you can and can't do include some that specify quiet hours, and that's fine, but it does leave you turning the TV down very low because you've been hearing the neighbors' TV for hours.

(If the wife had been along, we would've picked one of the fancy "theme" rooms... they all seem like a bargain to me.) The room - located behind the office - is indeed "no frills." But I was looking for a comfortable bed, and a nice warm shower. Both were part of the no-frills package; I was very satisfied. (BONUS: The owners are personable, and I enjoyed conversations with both of them, during my brief stay.) I'm sure I'll be back again. THANKS!

Needless to say, this was the best decision we could have made!! Ryan was thoughtful and attentive & the Juniper room lived up to the hype. When we finished our race, thunderstorms had rolled through and we were cold, soaking wet and tired. Ryan was kind enough to drop off some towels fresh from the dryer for us- so thoughtful! Our two nights in the Juniper room will not be forgotten, and I'm sure we will be back soon!

We had a great campsite, nice neighbors and wonderful hosts in Dave and Lyndee. The campground faciities are immaculate, quiet, conveniently located and private bathrooms were much appreciated. This was a great alternative to hotel living while I worked a couple of weeks in the area. Terry and Jeanne were flexible on my timing and the rate and were fantastic to work with. I moved my coworker into the Upper Suite within days as all my coworkers were super jealous.

Emailed the Blue Door Inn on 2/25/2022 and inquired about reserving a room. Received a reply…read morestating they would send me an invoice, to make a reservation. After three days, no communication from the owner(s). Called and emailed the owner(s) on 2/28/2022. Left a voicemail and an email message, asking them to contact me and expressing my desire to make a reservation. It is now 3/5/2022 and still no reply to my emails or phone call. We really wanted to stay here but, the owners are obviously inattentive. Not good.
