Excellent little shop on Skillman. The owners meticulously seek out great vintage finds and even better, support local artists. Here you can find the fruits of the labor local painters, authors, jewelry makers, candle makers, and so on. This is a lovely & charming little shop, despite the fact that the word "vintage" is a bit misleading since their selection of clothing is sparse. Was hunting for some record stores today to pick up some vinyls but the ones I kept going to were all closed for some reason... came back home and saw Stray was only 1 block away.. so I took a chance. And I'm glad I did, it's a great vintage spot with good picks on records as well. I also got a suggest to try Sunnyside Thrift Shop which wasn't as good of picks...but still found a few things. Will definitely keep Stray on my top choices to go back for more :) read more

I was really happy to find this store in Sunnyside. It's sort of amazing that a store like this exists here since it's pretty hip for the neighborhood. It's small but they pack in a lot of stuff and present it uniquely. You can find everything from vintage furniture and wall hangings to new, handmade jewelry by a local artisan. They even sell Sunnyside screenprinted tees with owls on 'em! (I learned that they make those themselves). They're not always open which frustrated me one or two times, but the place is so cute that I keep going back. If you're in the neighborhood, Stray is definitely worth checking out because you just never quite know what you'll find there- it might just be a gem! read more

This store is for hipsters with too much money to spend. Things are overpriced and not interesting. If you want your home to look like it's from a catalog, then by all means, buy away. read more

It is the only vintage store in Sunnyside (north of Queens Blvd.) that I'm aware of. Though it is small it has a fun collection of stuff.

Two Thanksgivings ago, my folks were visiting me in Woodside and I ended up taking them on my usual Stray walk-through--I try to check out what they've got whenever I can. My mom mentioned that she really liked a necklace. Of course, she didn't want to buy it as she's a frugal farm woman from Nebraska! but I'd never before been given the perfect cue for a Christmas present. I went back a couple days later and got it for my mom! Thank-you, Stray! I love the place. My mom loved the place. (They were also selling a pristine set of '70s Corelle gold butterfly dishes--which she owned the first time around, of course.) Go to Stray. You'll find something cool there. read more

This is a very unique store, especially for the area it is in. Its fun to walk along Skillman on a sunny day and wander in (which is what I did, I'm pretty sure). This is a very small and cramped store but there is a lot of fun things inside. Its a nice place to bring a visiting friend or to look for a unique birthday gift. As most vintage places are, its pretty pricey but its at least a good place to browse! read more

I'm sorry to read that "Broccol I." felt the owner was unfriendly. Every time I go in there I get a warm greeting from whoever is behind the desk that day. Sometimes I'm buying, sometimes I'm selling, sometimes I am just browsing, but every time I am treated well. Maybe because Dan's attitude is "Don't hustle the customer" that new customers think they are being ignored. But when I'm looking for antiques, records or an odd gift I find everyone at "Stray" extremely helpful. read more
