Some of my friends think I am crazy for not trying to sell or make a profit off of items I have that are expensive and like-new. A coworker recommended I sell my Graco Sooth My Way swing that I just purchased in July 2021 for almost $200 instead of just giving it away as I usually would. I only used it for a few months because my baby grew out of it quickly. She recommended I go to this place. I called ahead and the woman sounded nice enough, saying she would take it and give me cash on the spot. The swing is in like-new condition with all of the parts. I brought it in and the lady took it out of the bag and told me she is going to give me $16. I said that is it? And with an attitude she said "yea, all I can do is $16. If you want more than you have to sell it yourself." I already unloaded it out of the car and was not trying to bring it back to my house, so I just accepted the $16 and left not feeling good at all. I came to the conclusion that I feel much better giving it away for free than getting lowballed like this so someone else can make a profit. She will probably sell it for $100. I'm sure the experience here as a consumer is a lot better than one as a "seller" even though it felt more like robbery. Never again.

I love the Ridgewood Market!…read more This Sunday was the first time that I attended. It actually took place on Summerfield Street, which is right near my house (so I had no excuse not to attend!). So my local artisans and businesses were represented here! Not only establishments from Ridgewood (Norma's, Rudy's) but there are tons of other cool vendors from all over NYC represented here! MartiniHandmades (from whom I got an awesome terrarium and bracelet), an awesome empanada table, someone serving shrimp and grits! So many local artists, jewelry makers and thrift stores! I know that this market is awesome, because even my boyfriend, who usually does not enjoy these types of things, found several vendors, items and foods that he loved! Score! Everyone was friendly and some vendors even took credit cards! What a great way to get to meet people from your neighborhood and support local artisans! I can't wait to do all of my holiday shopping at Ridgewood Market!

It is categorized on Yelp as a "flea market" at moment, but that is really a misnomer; while there were a few booths selling used goods it is predominantly an indoor arts & crafts fair, with some booths selling food products to boot. This might be a good place to check if you were buying gifts; the majority of the goods are likely more appealing to women than men from my judgement. One aspect I do appreciate is that the vendor pool seems to display a relatively diverse range of ages, ethnicities, and tastes and the same goes for the crowd perhaps due to advertising that is also locally-focused; it doesn't feel so much like some of the similar craft markets held in other boroughs, but has a less-pretentious, very neighborhoodly Queens vibe. It seems to, consciously or not, embody Ridgewood quite well rather than attempting to replicate an outside aesthetic in this old neighborhood. Hopefully it becomes even more diverse and representative of the neighborhood as the event evolves. The best part is seeing so many people at Gottscheer Hall for a public event during daytime hours, as well as being able to get eggs and other brunchtime foods they don't normally serve.

Casual, one of a kind, fancy, vintage, trendy, old trend pieces that make the experience worth the trip. I like to see enough selection to boost my imagination for what I can do with the pieces. Also, I try to go there to get shoes and I never have luck. I wear a 6 1/2 to a seven you would think that they would have at least three pairs of those in the store. Most of their shoes are very large sizes(9-12). Their prices are not good at all. I would say their location in Williamsburg is much better, but even then their prices are a little too high in general, particularly in Ridgewood.

I visited this Salvation Army location at approximately 4:40 p.m. on Monday to pick up a china…read morecabinet that had been purchased and set aside for me. The item had a tag attached with my name and phone number, yet two employees refused to release it because I did not have the physical receipt with me. One staff member, a hefty woman with a mustache, said she would check whether the china cabinet was in the back, then left the front area for about 15 minutes. When she returned it was apparent that she did not check for the china cabinet and forgot about the issue all together while I was waiting. During the visit, I was able to locate the china cabinet in the back area myself, still with my contact information attached to it. The buyer who purchased the piece on my behalf had provided my information at the time of sale and was never informed that I would need to present a physical receipt in order to pick it up. This requirement was not communicated beforehand, which added to the confusion. The overall experience was infuriating. The employees were rude and despite having clear identifying information on the item, I was not able to take it with me. After about 25 minutes trying to resolve the situation, I left without the cabinet. While I understand stores have policies, the lack of communication and customer service made this a very disappointing experience.
