Today I had a haircut appointment with Elyssa. I took about 5 -6 inches off the length of my hair and wanted face framing layers (my normal cut). I'm extremely disappointed with how my hair turned out. When Elyssa first showed me my hair, she pulled it forward and the "face framing layers" were whisp back. When I got home I went to fix my hair in the mirror and noticed that the layers are not even. One side of my face the layer starts at my mouth then at my chin and no more. The other side of my face I have one layer that starts at my chin and that is it. The left and right side of my cut don't match at all. I would post a picture of it but I'm embarrassed. They are not face framing layers it looks like I chopped uneven side bangs for myself. My hair is damaged from so many years of lightening, blowing out, straightening, etc. So I'm particular about not over coloring what has already been colored and I have a hard time finding a stylist who will not overdo it. I am a wedding photographer so as you can imagine I see a lot of hair and makeup! The hair and makeup Rebecca did for one of my brides was the absolute best I had ever seen! It was absolutely stunning! She is so incredibly talented and I will absolutely be recommending her to all my future brides. The hair she did for my bride was elaborate and beautiful and it stayed in all night (even through the wild reception!) usually by the end of the night the brides hair is at least falling out a little, but it looked perfect up until the end! If you are looking to have the hair and makeup of your dreams, you have to hire Rebecca! I hired Rebecca really far in advance and thank goodness I did. She books up quickly for weddings. I originally booked Rebecca for my Bass Lake wedding after finding her page on Instagram. I love the boho braids she creates and that she offered beautiful makeup as well. Rebecca is the sweetest, but also extremely professional. She is always extremely to communicate as well. Before my bridal trial and wedding, she texted me the day before, which I loves. In addition, she even arrived early on the day of my wedding and she was so quick! She completed 3 bridesmaids hair in just an hour. After having my bridal trial, I decided to see Rebecca regularly. I had a picture of my dream hair (a balayage), which was significantly lighter than my Asian hair and Rebecca was able to get me there in only a couple sessions and in time for my wedding. I wish she could do my hair and makeup everyday. My hair and makeup from my wedding day still looked amazing after 8 hours and was absolutely my dream. An evening at Streaks... I knew something was up when I pulled into the parking lot. Cars everywhere! I entered the salon to find a throng of stylish and fashionable ladies. I noticed a makeup arteest applying maquillage to a woman's face. A stylist was demonstrating the use of a flat iron. Hmmm...then my interest was piqued when I spied a table of tasty-looking treats in the corner. Mmm I sat in the waiting area for just a moment before Wendi my stylist extraordinaire came to fetch me. As I sat in her chair I was just about to inquire what all the festivities were about. Just then I read a little invitation for an "Evening at Streaks" posted on the mirror. Reps from Glo Minerals Makeup, GHD Flat Irons (one of, if not *the* best flat irons available) and Yonka Skin Care (my skincare of choice) would be present for demonstrations, as well as 20% Versa spray tan sesh for new clients. Lucky new clients! The atmosphere was festive and lively, yet relaxing at the same time. A total contradiction, but it worked. An evening at Streaks is definitely my idea of a perfect late afternoon/early evening...relaxing in a comfy chair, enjoying delicious apps and bubbly all while in the capable hands of my stylist. I was going to Monica for over a year lightening my hair. My hair always came out very nice but the customer service started to diminish. I texted her for a hair cut for my daughter, she asked my availability, and then after I responded she never text me back. I looked on their website and Monica was not listed as a stylist anymore. That was in June 2019. Even after that I called Streaks today at 4:12 pm to find another stylist because I liked the salon. The front desk girl that answered the phone was incredibly rude. I had told her what happened and she said Monica's mother had passed away and my texts got flooded with the rest of all the thousands of texts Monica was receiving at that time. That would have been understandable except I had known her mother passed away and I had already gone to her twice after her mother passed. The front desk was assuming I was being rude when I said Monica was MIA and said Monica was dealing with a difficult time. Again, all that would have made sense if it was a couple months before when Monica's mother actually passed. And I had already seen her 2 times afterwards. If she didn't want to highlight my hair or cut my daughters hair anymore she could have said so and I wouldn't take it personal. I know I have a tight schedule and I could only go on saturday mornings most the time. I'm realistic and reasonable. Monica was always nice, professional, and did good work. I don't know what happened, but with how I was treated on the phone today its unacceptable and I will not go there. Either way, its business. I'm not in her personal life and if she was going through something like the front desk girl was implying then she could have sent out a text saying she is taking time off. Its business, and not being responded to and then being rude towards me is bad business; I will not go back there to another stylist after talking to the child that answered the phone. She was very rude, her tone was hostile, and she not one time apologized for the stylist not responding. She was not interested in problem solving, she was only interested in defending Monica. I will not recommend anyone to go there either. Apparently customer service isn't their strong point. read more

This review is strictly for the owner, and stylist Daydre... this does not reflect any other stylist there. I am writing this cause I feel everyone should know this if they are thinking about going to Daydre for a haircut, color, or extensions. Recently, I won a gift certificate for 300$ to get great length hair extensions from Daydre at a bridal show. When I went to except the gift, I told her I had previously had hair extensions and that they destroyed my hair, but that I really liked the clip ins. She said, okay I will do those for you...just make any appointment and we can match your hair color, etc. So I did... when I went there the salon was really nice. Well kept. The second I sat down in the chair she started going through my hair and didnt hesitate for one second to tell me how damaged it was and how poor the highlights were. I appreciate when someone tells me something to improve my hair or color but not like that. It was my first time going to her salon, she could have handled it in a much more professional way.. she was downright rude. So onto the extensions.... she then proceeded to tell me that she really doesnt want to do the clip ins anymore...she kept saying..."you know thats money I am just coughing up". yah...so why did you give a gift card... The reason she didnt want to do the clip ins is because those dont require touch ups, getting them taken out...all which cost money, which she wants. So then I said, " i totally understand and I really appreciate you doing this, but the clip ins are what I really wanted and you told me at the bridal show that you would do it". She said okay..." I'll do them, but itll take about a week for me to get back to you since I need to go pick up the right colors" I said thank you, that I really appreciated it.... Month and a half goes by....no call. So I eventually called, they took a message. I got a phone call back from her assistant saying that she no longer would do the clip ins.... BAD BUSINESS. Very unprofessional. Dont say you will do things and then not do them. Bad thing for her was I was going to recommend her to a few of my friends for extensions...well im not going to anymore...she just lost out on a few thousand dollars... I do not recommend going to this woman...she is rude, and is all about the money. You'd be better off looking elsewhere. read more

The following is my review of Monica for color only. Positives: Very flexible in scheduling, she does it herself. Friendly. I found out about Monica from a family member who went to her for color as well. It looked like it turned out good so I tried her out. I showed Monica a picture of how I wanted the colors to look and also showed her pictures of the colors. I really liked the colors she used. Unfortunately, the way she colored it was not like how I asked. But it still did look good. I was a little bit shocked at the price $95 (only 2 colors), but I guess this is standard. Later on I noticed that some areas weren't done. Then after about 2 weeks of hair washing the color was noticeably coming out. Now not even 3 weeks have gone by and my hair has about half inch of grey roots. Also, when my hair color was under the dryer she did another gal's blow out or something. So I had to wait almost an additional 15 minutes after my dryer stopped to wait for her. But I heard that at this salon this is normal. read more

I have a stylists nightmare of hair long wavy kinky and a lot of hair. After a last minute blow off by a stylist who said they would do my hair, I was able to get in with BRENDA and she took my hair from red to platinum without damaging it, and gave me the cut I wanted. After moving to modesto from the bay area, and going to a number of stylists that give up on my hair cause its so much work, I have found my girl! I have to say I had a very upsetting experience with the hair stylist Genevive at Streaks Hair Salon. She did hi/lo lights and the base color for me. The color was mediocre, as she missed a whole section of hair on the base color, but the worst part was she charged a very high and unreasonable amount (over $150, no cut, a $25 dollar glaze was done). Another stylist set the appt for me because she was unavailable so I assumed Genevive's prices would be comparable. I have had this same service done many times and never charged this much. She has an assistant so I can only assume you pay for two. Use caution when going to this salon, there is a huge difference in prices and none are posted. Be especially careful of Genevive, her prices are astronomical! read more

I visited Streaks for a consultation to have my hair done"granite color". While there the front desk took our info and she let us know all stylist are independent workers and that we will get a text for our consultation on how much and what we wanted done to our hair. I waited and waited and no one text me, so much for stylist that not even a courtesy text or call to let us know that they where not interest or how much it will cost for our streaks. I went to get highlights redone and a cut and OH MY GOD..I love it. I texted Ola and she got me an appointment very last minute (the next morning) and she did an amazing job. She took her time looking at and asking about my hair and what's been done to it and what I wanted done to it. My hair isn't easy to lighten as it always turns red, but she worked with it and gave me suggestions on how to care for my hair and color. She gave me exactly what I wanted (I showed her pictures) and she was so sweet and nice. I'll definitely be back!! **update: I've been away at school since this review (December) and it's June now.
