Phil's Firewood Delivers in Philly! I recently put in a…read moremodest order for firewood from Phil's to get ahead of the brutal cold and snowstorm. It arrived in time, three large bags, but it was flawed from the beginning, thoroughly soaked and dirty and, worse I couldn't get it to burn in my wood stove. I assumed it was dug up in haste from a bog and unfortunately made its way to my doorstep. I shared this situation with Phil via text; he said he would check it out personally, but he was swamped with orders pending the arriving storm. I assumed I would not hear back--a typical contractor's ploy in Philly--but then did several days after the snowstorm, Phil offering three bags as replacement and an additional one as compensation. I said one bag of firewood was enough, you have a business to run without giving away free material, and, besides, three bags would be a form of punishment for an honest mistake. We had a very, very large tree in our yard, which was too close to the house. The tree was 30-40…read morefeet tall, with half a dozen very large extensions growing out of two massive trunks. In addition, its massive roots were exposed, taking up a significant portion of the lawn. I received three estimates from highly rated tree service companies and decided to select Willow Tree. I selected Willow Tree because of the quick response, professional opinion and thorough explanation of the removal process, and the price - they came in with the lowest estimate. They came out on the scheduled date, and we watched in amazement as they methodically took down this incredibly large tree! It was such a professional job - they had their own crane, wood chipper, numerous trucks and equipment. It was impressive to say the least. They removed the tree in one day - then returned and removed the massive stump and root structure. The result - a beautiful, smooth looking area that you would never know a tree had been there! I was getting tired of every time a breeze came through I would have to spend hours picking up broken sticks. Over the winter a large branch fell off one and lodged itself about two feet in the ground. So, enough putting it off, time to have the trees removed. I reached out to a few companies for quotes, Clauser wasn't even on my radar until my neighbors had them do some work. I called and Steve came out, we walked the property and before he left I had a quote. The quote was significantly more affordable than my previous quotes. I actually called him a few days later just to clarify...could it really be this good? When the team came out, they did very good. I was expecting my yard to be torn up (as I mentioned just one branch falling over the winter caused serious damage). I could barely tell they had been there when they left. Aside from very minimal turf damage, they raked everything up. I have more trees that need to go, they're not an immediate danger right now but will be. When that time comes I won't even waste my time calling someone else. It will be Clauser.

When we first started going this was a nice affordable way to spend a Saturday afternoon, and purchase a couple of pumpkins. I do not know what has happened. These events have become overly commercial and very expensive. All of the activities now take tickets. There was a slide that cost 2 dollars. This seemed exceedingly expensive. It used to be the activities were free, but you paid for food, the pumpkins, etc. I can understand charging for a hayride which we rode, and I have to say it was very nice , relaxing and fun. Both my 15 year old and 6 year old enjoyed this hayride. There is a lot to do, and the activities are fun. However, as stated above, you will pay for everything you do or eat here. The corn maze was fun, but a bit short. The highlight was the hayride. They did have a guy playing guitar and singing country types of songs. He was quite good, and the music added to the atmosphere. The hours are 12-4 which really should be expanded to end at 5 or 6. The bottom line is we had a good time, but spent over $75 for a 2 1/2 hour visit. This is not a very good value.
