this is pretty much what my yard looks like. It was grass before Ed treated it

If you need lawn repair and renovations, Ed is not who you want. Through the years, I have been a customer of Ed's, always liked him. I wrote him a favorable review when he took down some of my trees. So for me to leave a review like this, you know he did a bad job. He advertises that he does lawn repair. Told us he wouldn't charge us until we were thrilled with our lawn, so we hired him. He killed the whole damn back lawn and half of the front. We paid him $1300 for a lawn that is nothing but mud. He is not a nice guy when you have complaints about his work. He told us our lawn was the only lawn that he couldn't fix and he didn't know the problem. He took no responsibility for the mess he made of our lawn - even though he was the only one who touched it. Still he sent us invoices. One for soil amendments, which obviously killed the lawn. The other for seed and topsoil, which he says he put down. We did not pay for the seed and topsoil because it is still nothing but mud. However, he still sent an invoice knowing it was all mud. Ed takes no responsibility and wrong or not, he wants his money. You pay him to get rid of him. His line that he wouldn't charge us till we loved our lawn was sadly, another of his lies. He's not worth the trouble and he use to be good that is what is a shame There are a lot of good landscaping companies out there and sadly, Ed's company is not one of them anymore.

This was a really, really good experience…read more I noticed that a tree was uprooted and had a real concern that it would fall on a busy street. I reached out to a few companies. Sven was the first to respond. He offered to come out immediately after normal work hours for a free quote. He thoroughly inspected the tree and assured me that it wasn't in imminent danger of falling over. That night he sent over a quote that was substantially lower than I had feared it would. He scheduled the job for the weekend, showed up on time, and just worked solidly until the job was done. Pretty much a flawless transaction. We'll use him again for sure.

He gave us the lowest price for an actual professional trim (vs someone just coming in with a ladder) and I trusted him to not damage our roof. Please see before and after pictures of the trim. That said, I have to say I'm unhappy with the logistics. It was difficult to schedule with Tree Lion. They forgot to put me in their schedule and rescheduled last minute. They also were the only contractor who did not come do a site survey before giving me a quote, which led to a logistical issue of where to stage the bucket lift and needing to drive the large truck in between our fence posts. I did explicitly say we were planning on replacing the fence, so I am not particularly upset, but I have to mention on this review that he bent our fence post with the truck and did not mention it to us. Imo, just a few avoidable logistical issues. Great tree service? Yes, absolutely. Good work and good value. Professional conduct? I'm sorry to say could be better.

    Eagles Tree Service

    Eagles Tree Service

Our experience with Eagles Tree Service almost didn't happen…read more We needed to remove a really large dying oak tree at the top of the hill in our backyard, and knew it would be a big and potentially complicated job. We initially scheduled with another company to do the work. I never like to badmouth anyone by name, but what happened with them is part of this review, and so needs to be said. Suffice it to say it's a big company. A really big company. A Monstrously big company. Let's call them 'Scary Creature' Tree Service. They sent out an estimator who said the job could be done, though noted some of the large dying limbs may pose a challenge. He gave us a quote, and we agreed to it. They finally scheduled us a month out. The day of the service they showed with a decent-sized crew and lots of equipment. Sounds pretty good so far, right? We thought so, too. The crew came into the yard, walked up the hill, looked at the tree, looked at their gear, looked at their bucket truck, looked at the tree, looked at each other, looked at everything again, looked at us, and said it couldn't be done with their equipment. The hill was too steep for the bucket truck, and the tree couldn't be climbed for several reasons. And then they simply left. They told us someone would get right back to us about a reschedule and a new quote if necessary. No one contacted us that day. Or the next. Or the next. Or the next week. Or the next. They finally got back to us and said that the tree couldn't be climbed, so they would need to use an aerial crane, and it would cost roughly 40% more than the initial quote. At this point we were thoroughly annoyed, and contacted a couple other companies, one of which was Eagles. We liked that they are a local family company and the father showed up, looked at the tree, said they could do it, and their quote was substantially lower than the other company's initial quote. The day of the service they showed up on time. They had the same-sized crew and less equipment. And they weren't remotely frightened by the tree. All of the complications noted by the other company, requiring more and more equipment and money, they didn't even blink at. They noted the same issues, but figured out how to deal with them, and then dealt with them. They were all exceptionally friendly and exuded confidence and competence. The son would say things like, "This limb is going to be a fun challenge. It wants to fall over there, in your neighbors' yard. So we're going to tie it off in this way, and it's going to fall here." And as he called it, so it happened. The whole day and the whole experience was perfect from start to finish. They cut up some of the tree for firewood, and even stacked it for us. They went back and cleaned up the yard and filled in the really big divots gouged by the tree and various limbs as they fell. There were just so many little moments and details that they got right. So if you're reading this book-length review and wondering whether we liked them, and whether we strongly recommend them, and whether you should consider working with them, the answer is absolutely yes.
