The Fish Bowl truck showed up at a local brewpub this week and I can guarantee we will be there when it shows up again. I can think of few times I've had fried fish that was that good. The batter was crispy and covered the fish well (no bald spots) without being too thick. The fish tasted fresh and mild. And the pieces were big. Unless you're super hungry, I'd recommend sticking with two pieces, and probably most parties of two would be satisfied splitting a three piecer. The fries were also exceptional, crisp and not greasy, firm without being chewy. I hate to gush, but I haven't had a french fry that good in years. This was just from tasting a few of my wife's: I ordered creamy cole slaw in place of chips, and the slaw was very good-- cabbage was crisp, dressing not too heavy or too sweet.--but I found myself wishing I'd gone for the fries, carb control be damned. The Fish Bowl also offers fish tacos (which are pieces of fried fish wrapped in a tortilla and topped with tartar sauce and pickled onion) and meat pies (which I didn't see), if you don't like fish. For vegans, there's a tempeh pie It did take a while to get served, even though no one else was at the window when we arrived. We were acknowledged, but the staff spent a few minutes attending the fryer and assembling other orders before taking ours. But that doesn't show negligence or indifference on their part. Fish and fries aren't exactly items you can make in advance and let sit (not that some places don't), and the food we finally got was good enough to push that little inconvenience out of mind, and to guarantee five stars for The Fish Bowl.

Ordered two chicken corn tacos ($20 ticket voucher), walking Doritos chicken nachos ($20 ticket voucher, mangonada ($15) and a pina colada in a pineapple with fresh fruit ($30). Ordered 3 more chicken corn tacos with cash ($10). All told they charged us $59.61 cash and $40 of ticket vouchers, that's $99.61. Seems rather steep for what we got and really inflated too. The tacos were okay, nothing special. Chicken was little small granules and almost seemed like it was maybe ground chicken or the strangest chicken granules we have ever seen. Not what we expected at all. The pineapple pina colada was so-so, not worth $30. The mangomada didn't taste so great, was disappointing for $15. The walking taco would have benefits better less the water logged corn that sogged things up quickly in the nacho Doritos bag. All in I would not say it was worth nearly $100 worth of food and drinks here.

I got it with steak. The steak had decent flavor but the quality was suspect and it was not the most tender. Credit where credit's due, there was a lot of steak in it. Unfortunately, the food was another story. The macaroni and cheese was hard, dry, and was overwhelmed by the taste of jalapeños. I only took a small bite of the pulled chicken, and it seemed decent, but by that point I had completely lost my appetite. Based on this experience, I would not recommend eating their food.
