Wow, I'm from the Westcoast visiting for the holidays and man this gym eats up the gyms in CA. The…read morestaff was super friendly the moment you walk in. There is an abundance of gym equipment, weights, space, etc. Surprised to also see so many bumper plates and squat racks! They even have a cinema room to watch something while you work out. The gym requires you to leave your bags in the locker room, normally I carry around some equipment in my bag to help with my workouts but I feel, you don't have to worry about not finding what you need. People seemed respectful of the gym and put things back where they belong. Not sure if it's always like this but I went on thanksgiving day. We used our family's guest pass to get in. We asked about day passes and they said $10/visit. Side notes: there was a children's play area for people who needs a babysitter while they get active. Saw multiple bathing suit dryers in the women's locker room, ample dressing stalls/bathrooms, showers, etc and super clean!

poor experience with personal training staff and with membership services…read more gym equipment was ok and i enjoyed coming to the location for several months. personal trainer was ok when they showed up. had a few sessions, but then however they forgot our appointment time three times and had to cancel our sessions. later when i tried to cancel my membership all of the cancellation process is via email and is separate from the local gym making the cancellation process unnecessarily complicated. they also want to charge a hefty exit fee. i show up at the gym to speak with staff and the manager and person in charge of the personal trainer section are not in during normal working hours. beyond them, there is no one at the gym to help me process the refunds and/or cancellation process. buyer beware

I love the gym but the pool needs a better system…read more I've been increasingly frustrated with the pool experience at OneLife Fitness. This is the second time this week I've gone specifically to lap swim and found a children's private swim lesson being taught at an extremely loud volume right alongside the lap swimmers. Earlier this week, the instructor was so loud that several of us actually stopped swimming and were standing in the pool waiting for the lesson to end. I've swum during British Swim School classes with groups of toddlers and they were considerably less disruptive. Today was worse. I got into the one remaining open lap lane, only to have the same instructor tell me he was teaching a lesson in that lane. At that point I left the pool entirely. Even if I waited for another lane to open, the noise level made lap swimming anything but relaxing or enjoyable. When I spoke to the front desk, I was told there really wasn't anything they could do other than ask the instructor to be quieter. I suggested that, at a minimum, these private lessons should be clearly listed on the pool schedule so members know in advance when part of the lap pool will be occupied and can plan accordingly. I understand that swim lessons are part of a shared pool environment. The issue isn't that children are being taught--it's that paying members trying to use the pool for lap swimming have no warning that lanes may be unavailable, combined with a level of noise that disrupts the entire pool. OneLife needs a better system for scheduling and communicating private swim lessons so lap swimmers can actually use the facility they're paying for.

I was a bit intimidated at 1st because of the location I thought the people would not be as friendly. And I was wrong! The staff has always been so friendly and also the coaches. Same vibe as the Red Mill location. It's clean, plenty of parking, wide variety of classes available and very friendly staff. I am enjoying this location - well....honestly I will again after I come out of my winter hibernation. I have no excuse - it's across the street from my work. See you soon.

I have been going to Orangetheory (this location) for almost 2 years now. If I wrote this review…read morelast year at this exact time, it would be totally different. Last year (2023), somewhere between May and July, they had a change in studio management, and it was honestly the best thing they could have done. The SA (front desk staff) are always welcoming, friendly, and personable. I don't know how they remember everyone's name and the conversation they have. If they know you have a BIG day coming up or a celebration, they always try to celebrate with you. They also do a very great job of keeping the studio clean. When you're in class you will see them cleaning the lobby, bathroom etc. I have never felt icky using the bathroom or taking a shower at this studio. If you ever have a question or issue, Jo, the studio manager, as well as the SA's, are pretty responsive. The workout at orangetheory is what I would consider a 60 min HIIT style circuit. They have three main class formats 3G, 2G class & tornado. In a 3G class, you will be on the row machine, treadmill, and floor (strength) for about 14/15 minutes. There is a 5 minute warm-up and cool down as well. In a 2G class, one station is either paired with another like a row/run, or one machine can be completely removed, usually the rower. The other template you might see is the tornado. It pops up every once in a while. I personally hate tornadoes. It's too much switching for me, so I normally dont sign up for them. I do however recommend everyone to take one tornado class and come up with your own opinion. One of the things I love about the Orangetheory brand is that the workout template is the same at all their studios. It doesn't matter if you're at a class in MD or right here at Hilltop, same workout, other than 2G version, or 3G version. There is a coach present in each class that will go over the workout instructions and, if needed, will correct your form. I definitely have my favorites, but all the coaches at Hilltop do a pretty good job of trying to be attentive and helping us if needed. If there is an exercise you are not able to do, they are always willing to give you a modification that works for you. Each coach creates their own music playlist, and for the most part, they all have good music taste, lol. Orangetheory is a membership gym without a yearly contract. You can cancel at any time with a 30-day notice. They offer 3 different monthly options as well as class packs. Every once in a while, they will offer membership discounts/sales. Your first class is free as long as you live in Virginia Beach. They also have a sister studio in the Redmill area with the same ownership & management team. If you do get a membership or class pack, they encourage you to purchase a Heart rate monitor. The Heart rate monitor isn't mandatory, but I do enjoy seeing my stats on the board. Overall, I would highly recommend giving Orangetheroy a try. It will definitely be a great workout that you might end up getting addicted to.
