The pools are virtually unusable. If you take a tour and they try to give you the line that the therapy pool is around 95 & the regular pool is about 86, DO NOT BELIEVE THEM! The heaters have been broken for MONTHS now. That's right, I said months. The temp today was 76 in the therapy pool & 78 in the main. Even when they were working, the temps would range wildly. They were never the same temp twice. The therapy pool could be 83 one day and over 100 a few days later. They. Just. Don't. Care. They refused to add proper chlorine to the pools for months as well. It took repeated calls to the health dept to get them to FORCE them to get it up to level. "Oh, how bad could it be?" you ask. The proper level is supposed to be 7.2. The therapy pool was .2 to .5. For MONTHS. That is very dangerous & unhealthy. They were cloudy all the time and smelled. The saunas were down for a long time. I was told there was black mold in the ladies locker room one for a very long time, but even at that, they refused to fix it. Or CLOSE IT! Even with black mold. The showers were broken for over a year before they got fixed despite dozens of requests to fix them. It was not a complex plumbing issue, it was REPLACING A SHOWER HEAD!! Get the picture? They care about your money, not you. Then they will not spend any to keep things fixed. They will tell you anything to get you to sign up, but if you ever have a problem, you are all the way out of luck. So if you believe the "C" in "YMCA" stands for "Christian" - nope. WWJD? Care enough about people to keep things fixed.

The main difference that I've noticed (and I guess the reason for this update) is that the staff doesn't seem as interactive. And I kind of mean this in a good way? They used to have workers stand in the entryway upstairs, at the top of the straits landing between the two sections of workout equipment. This always felt a little awkward to me, like they were just watching everyone exercise (which was their job, so they were) and it was probably weird (and super boring!) for them too! It was nice that they were more available for any questions/ issues that way though. Now I'm not sure where they are? So maybe something between those two ways would be good... I'll also say that a few months ago, the staff was always super welcoming when coming in and leaving the building. Recently, I haven't really seen as much of that. Honestly I'm not sure if I miss that, or if I'm cool with just being able to walk in and just kind of stay to myself and go on with my way lol. I guess again, maybe something in between would be good. I think maybe one reason for this is that everyone knows how to use their cards or their phones to check themselves in, so there's less of a need to have someone right there at the door all the time, to be fair. Not gonna change my star rating even though there are some changes, just because I feel like the differences are more neutral in my eyes. Not necessarily better, or worse, just differences! I just wonder if these were intentional changes or not...?

There are a lot of slots available throughout the day and they tell you who is assigned to your appointment. I ended up having to call to change the time and Mario was extremely helpful and nice. He answered all my questions and advised me to wear comfy clothes for the stretch. This location is on the shopping center on 61st & Yale. It was a hard finding the space mostly because the map indicated it was by the Bank of Oklahoma closer to the street when in reality it's further down across from hideaway. I just drove around a bit to find it but I was nervous about making me late. Mario welcomed me and told me Zach would be helping me during the session. I appreciated how we sat down first to talk about my flexibility, mobility and goals. He shared about their philosophy and their system. They have tables where you lay down with straps to make sure you don't move during the stretches. Through each stretch, Zach would check in with me on the intensity of it, 1, 3, 5, etc. He'd hold each stretch before repeating and moving on to the next. There was one hip stretch that felt amazing and made me realize how tight my hips were. It was great to have assistance in the stretches and I felt great after. They shared the membership information but I'll just stop by whenever I feel like I need a good stretch.

If you need to borrow gloves and have no idea (like me) how to rap them get to class about 15 minutes early and someone will help you! The workout starts with about 15 min of intense 'warm ups' with exercises like lunges, sprints and jump rope. The bulk of the class you'll be hitting that bag with instruction. Sometimes it's hard to hear the instructor so try to get a bag close to him/her. Finale 10 minutes are ab intensive. You'll leave needing a shower!

ALL of the trainers are really nice and would correct me if I was doing something wrong (which was a lot of the time). It was especially nice because all the trainers do their classes slightly differently with different types of workouts, which keeps things from getting too boring or stagnant. Only cons are the wet gloves if you use theirs (from other peoples' sweat?! Hoping its from sterilizing spray) and it seemed like they kept it really warm in there..... Has showers you can use, but not sure if you need to bring towels or soaps because I didn't use it, but I would bring some or ask. Before I get into the details I want to mention they do give at least one free class to try it out. I highly recommend it. You can test it out. Take a water bottle (and towel) with you. :) Classes are typically 45 minutes with some being 60. The instructors are well-trained and incredibly kind. I also like that even if you go at the same time every day there could be a different instructor which keeps you feeling like you are doing something new. They each have their own style and part in the class that they like. The workouts are fairly well rounded with lots of stretching, isometric holds and pulses and even a slight cardio burst. You can modify anything any time which I like because those legs get to screaming at me! Typically at the end of class there is a relaxed breathing that helps you start the day off right. There was a change in hands about a year ago and while the other owners did a great job, I can see some great and positive changes happening. I also wanted to mention sometimes they have themed classes. The most recent were Wicked and the Life of a Showgirl. They had prizes and treats and had some fun decorations up.
