I've been a member of planet fitness since 2012, today I canceled my membership. I've been using the riverside location for several years now and I've never had to many complaints and I've never voiced a complaint while working out at the club. Since last year there has been multiple incidents of older Karen's approaching me while using different machines and very rudely asking if I'm done with the machine while I'm clearly not, every time I say I'm still using it they then role there eyes or say something under there breath while walking away from me. Today another Karen approached me and again same situation happened, but this time after being disrespectful she then went to a manager and complained about me for not bowing down to her and kissing her feet and I wasn't going as fast as she wanted me to. She then pointed at me and kept staring at me while complaining. She then exited the gym. There was 100 different machines that could have been used for triceps instead she wanted to start a confrontation at that point. This is the reason I really canceled the membership, I approached the manager very calmly after she left and basically was just venting, I wasn't yelling and there wasn't anyone around us to hear out conversation. I told him that she was trying to start a confrontation and I didn't appreciate her approaching me like that and he basically blew me off, I wasn't demanding he revoke her membership or even chew her out, I basically wanted him to acknowledge that I shouldn't had been talked to like that. He wouldn't even look me in the face when he was talking to me and tried to dismiss my complaint like it's not a big deal and tried making me out to be the bad guy. All he had to say was I understand how you feel and if she does that again come and report it to him, I'm not going to a place where I'm consistently getting disrespected by members and there staff. He provided terrible customer service and I hope he gets better training on how to listen and not dismiss people with a legitimate complaint. And I hope with more training he better understands by dismissing complaints like that he is missing the bigger problem that when you have members who are clearly trying to start confrontations that needs to be addressed not dismissed because they are going to have a much bigger problem in the future because she's going to do that to someone isn't as nice as I am. The other staff at the club have always been nice and never disrespectful as he was and the fact how he was trying dismiss me and trying move me along so didn't have to do his job was pushing me to cause a scene and get even more angrier because how terrible he handled that situation, luckily I chose to be a bigger person and leave because I have way more respect for the club than he does. Whoever reads this review just know that if you have a serious complaint and your trying peacefully resolve it because of members trying to start altercations with you don't go to the guy with the mullet go to someone above him or call corporate because he's not going to take your complaint seriously and will handle it very poorly even if you've been a member for many than a decade. read more

We're fans. PF is a brand new gym built into the bones of the old Lubys. Bonus: I often feel the the spirit realm encouraging me to eat roast, steamed carrots and a slice of pie around 5:00 Friendly staff. Everything you need in way of equipment. Nice, clean locker/ shower / restroom facilities. Parking is plentiful in lots on both front side lots. The rotational stations are pretty well laid out. They generally accommodate all the partakers. And I love all the step stations in the middle of the 30 min room. When I'm ready to go beast mode, i keep the heart rate going between resistance machines -- by GETTING MY STEP ON! Multitude of TVs with plug-ins on cardio. Audio works *most of the time. Music playing over the PA at an appropriate volume from the PF house channel. Constructive criticism: - Place yoga mats in an accessible way. - On the water bottle station by the rear water fountain -- what's the deal with it occasionally dispensing HOT water ? - Need to install a thermo-nuclear smell shield facing the Burger King across 71st Street to help me focus on my work out. - Family membership can create real chaos in whose bar code tag is assigned to whom. My wife had to have tags reissued 3 times to get it sorted. (One of those times i watched almost a whole episode of Seinfeld while she was at the counter. Hey I was elipsing also!) CONCLUSION: PF is no- frills. It feels like muscle heads, hot young kids, 30ish and old folk can all co-exist here in harmony. It's amazing how people will take the time out to write something negative but rarely ever do people spend the time to share positive experiences even during these times of crisis when some businesses are depending on it... I'm from NY originally and I've been to different Planet Fitness locations across the country. With that being said, this place was the cleanest, had the friendliest, most helpful staff, and ALL of the machines work I would highly recommend this PF to anybody. read more

Black card member. Great gym really good price. Lots of good equipment and the staff here is super friendly. You get a mix of personalities here but the staff is great. Only downfall is If you get in your tanning bed late or need more time, they will not let you tan anymore. You get one session per visit. Makes things inconvenient if you need more time or get in late. Other than that great location and staff. read more

I have been to several different PF locations in a couple of different states and I feel like this one has been my favorite. Even at peak times, there is plenty of room to accommodate all of the gym goers. The staff is extremely helpful and nice. There are ample tanning beds, and the wait (when there is one) is never long! As for the COVID situation, Every other machine is blocked off to help with social distancing, and I am constantly seeing staff members refilling sanitizer sprays, cleaning equipment and monitoring mask wearing. The gym is very clean, calm, and just all around a great atmosphere. read more

I have been going here for what seems like forever and thought I would finally leave a review. The staff at this particular place has just done an outstanding job with service, cleanliness, and staff treats you like family and motivates you. That's hard to find these days. Also like to give a big shout out to the staff cleaning the machines. There are some heavier set staff here but that doesn't slow them down and they are happy to be there and don't appear to be there just for a paycheck. If their was a negative thing there it would be people using the 30 minute workout machines that are not doing the circuit training so that could be reenforced better. Hate waiting on a machine when I was the one following the rules and was actually doing the 30 minute circuit training. Maybe explaining it better when showing people the gym might help. From a workout perspective, I think Planet Fitness facilities are comparable to most fitness facilities. They have plenty of nice equipment and the staff is friendly. My whole issue with them is related to ethics. I simply do not believe it is ethical to splash $10/month in people's faces when the reality is something quite different. This location refuses to continue freezes or refund dues charged to people with compromised immune systems or unable to return during COVID-19. I spoke to Don in February about cancelling the membership it it wasn't cancelled. I called back and spoke to Albert today, who was absolutely deplorable. I would recommend another gym over this location any day. There is a pandemic and they refuse to take care of the people who need to take precautions. Absolutely disgusting treatment of humans who have lost jobs and are struggling at a time like this. read more

I enjoy working out at Planet Fitness. Its a very relaxed atmosphere and there is always a machine for me to use which is very helpful because I go work out on my lunch break. The facility is always clean when I go. Its a great Price. You DO have to sign a contract with this gym which is ok for me (Just read Contract) its pretty basic. The staff has always treated me with kindness. The New general Manager Christian was very nice and knowledgeable. I Highly Recommend The Black Card so you can work out at every location. read more

I absolutely love Planet Fitness, and go every chance I get! I'm always made to feel welcome. The facility is always nice and clean, including the locker rooms, which surprises me. Genuinely one of the best gyms I've ever been to, and I went to a lot before finally calling Planet Fitness on Riverside my home! Ignore idiots who complain about computer glitches or their memberships. Overcharges that do happen (happened to me once because a payment was denied once, some reason) are easily rectified by going to the staff and making them aware. It was adjusted as credit (which is what I wanted anyway). As for people complaining about having difficulties cancelling their membership, this I've personally gone through too. I had to cancel my membership early once, a year ago, because of some craziness that was happening with my work at the time and I knew I wasn't going to commit to my fitness for a while. The price wasn't cheap, but I was made aware of that before I signed the agreement, and even then it wasn't unreasonable, and additionally the process was as simple as walking in, saying I wanted to cancel, and then signing a few things and making the payment. If anyone says otherwise, they're being disingenuous or hyperbolic. The only complaint I believe could be genuinely made, and I don't know if this is Planet Fitness-wide, or just my location, but they have Tootsie roll days and pizza days, which that's awesome! BUT, I just don't understand why, instead of tootsie rolls or pizza it isn't something healthy, like a granola bar or a sugar-free oatmeal cookie. I'd also love to see more space for classes. Planet Fitness on Riverside have this gigantic building, but they seem to only be using half of it. I hope they're going to open up the other half for classes, because it seems like a lot of space to go underutilized. Or a lap pool would be awesome!! read more

Do not enter into any kind of membership with this company. I am moving to another state and have been give the worst run around by this junk company. I tried to cancel my membership for a full week only to have road block after road block. Finally, I was able to get my membership cancelled a week later only to find it was within the seven day billing cycle for yearly fees and was charged $50. So I'm paying for a years maintenance for a company I no longer belong to. And instead doing the right thing and refunding money to a loyal customer of three years, they are keeping my money. They are thieves and crooks, totally unwilling to help their customers. read more

Terrible. On a piece of equipment doing a regular 4 sets with a minute to a minute and a half between sets. 12 reps max each set. Was asked to hurry because someone wanted to use the equipment and I was taking too long. I waited patiently for each piece of equipment I wanted to use. Funny how a place that claims to be judgement free is very judgemental. My guess is the plan is to target people who most likely won't workout regularly and lock them into a contract they know they won't use. Just a thought. read more

Still a work in progress. This location opened too quickly, or was rushed during construction, and it's very obvious. Decorative wall panels are falling off, getting snagged on clothing, wall and ceiling tiles aren't all in place, and men's bathroom only had one working toilet both days I was there. Also, please finish painting the red room, and maybe get more ventilation somehow. I'm disappointed to say the least. Hopefully these will be fixed soon. read more

The staff is rude, and you can't even just call and talk to a person, you have to go through an automated machine. Planet Fitness used to have okay gym in tulsa, but it seems like it has changed to be more like an annoying corporation. If they had any of the amenities as other gyms, it might be worth garbage service. 10gym will be gaining my business, along with others I workout with. read more

When I think of a gym- I think of a place where there are people on my level, in which this case it's no where near a professional LAWL!! Planet Fitness makes sure they keep it as casual as possible. The staff is extremely friendly and very attentive. Always greet you with a smile and offer their help if any questions. They even walk around the gym (they take turns) to see if there is anything out there that any one needs help with. I personally don't need a gym that's all glamour- bc let's be honest- people go there to sweat and burn fat, NOT to look pretty. It's in a great location too! Being right in front of all the trails, it makes me want to go for a run outside especially now that we are getting into the warmer weather! The price we pay for, is just too good! They have all kinds of equipment! Including water massage and tanning! read more

Love this location. Perfect to get to and the staff is always super nice. They have the workout machines, tanning, and the "Red Room" I won't give you all the details because I want you to try the Red Room out for yourself. I came from a pretty expensive gym so this was nice to be able to switch to with not feeling like a major transition. Thanks Planet Fitness! read more

They double charge, say it was a computer glitch in area with many accounts affected, but will not refund the over charge until I send my bank statement to Texas showing the over charge. Ya. So far I'm very happy with Planet Fitness. The staff are very friendly and helpful and I never have to wait for the equipment I want to use. The only reason I didn't give a fifth star is because the wifi has never worked once since I started going there. I have a fitness app that requires wifi and unfortunately, if I go to the Riverside location, I can't use that app because the wifi is always down. I hope they get this fixed soon, but in the meantime I'll use one of the other locations. I mentioned the issue to the staff, who stated they are aware of the problem; they told me the fastest way to get the tech group to work on it is to submit feedback online.
