Brisket, coleslaw and fries

I had brisket with fries and coleslaw. Honestly, the best part for me was the coleslaw. My husband had the pulled pork. He said it was ok. The service was good, though. We had a little way to travel, so I don't foresee a return trip.

Wednesday Night Meatloaf special.

Food was great, service great, tried an experimental sandwich which was nice that they offered some things that weren't in the menu.

Love this little restaurant in Dunlap. It opens at 6am, Tuesday through Friday, 7 am on Saturdays…read moreand Sundays, (closed on Mondays). We usually arrive at 6:01am with already 2-3 of the regulars already here. Besides having excellent food and service, the local customers bring interesting and informative stories about their daily operations and experiences which I love listening to. I usually get bacon and eggs, but today opted for their steak skillet because I had seen a customer order it a couple of weeks ago and thought it looked really good. Guess what? It was really, really GOOD! Service is provided by Jennie. She's the epitome of a perfect restaurant employee. She remembers people's orders, greets everyone coming in, constantly walks around with a coffee pot refilling customers cups, and is a happy person. If you're in the area be sure to check this place out, but they're only open until 2pm, so plan on a breakfast or lunch. You won't be disappointed.

Denver omelet had WAY too much onion and sparsely had green peppers, but there was a lot of cheese. Best tasting item was the toast. Disappointed after seeing it was rated 4.6, must have been friends that gave that rating.

Pontiac, Illinois has quite a lot of Route 66 information. Museums, car museum and a quaint town…read moresquare. We walked from the car museum to Edinger's Filling Station for lunch. We couldn't have picked a better spot. We were seated immediately and notice the place was filled with mainly locals. Our server stopped by right away to take our drink order and ask us if we had any questions. She was so nice, so friendly, offered great recommendations and was fun to talk to. Mr. Bee ordered the Monte Cristo Wrap and I tried the house made veggie burger. The food came out quickly and was nice and hot. The Monte Cristo Wrap was really quite good and had a lot of nice flavors and was seasoned well. My veggie burger was different but delicious. It was also seasoned well and I managed to eat every last bite and thoroughly enjoyed it. I ordered a side of Fried Mac and Cheese and it too was very different than what you would expect. The mac and cheese is not shaped into balls, battered and fried. They take their mac and cheese and smash it down on the grill to cook it. So good. It had lots of crispy bits on it. The food was fresh and really well cooked. The place is like an old fashioned diner and friendly service with a smile. The atmosphere was fun, and everyone seemed friendly and were enjoying their meals. We were full, but when our server came by and said we have fresh made pies, Mr. Bee jumped on that bandwagon. We got a piece of coconut cream pie to go. We stopped in the park in the middle of the square where there are a few benches and picnic tables. We enjoyed our pie, it was scrumptious while enjoying the beautiful sunny day.

It's a pretty casual place that's better than it looks. Can get crowded but things ran smoothly last time in. The food is basic diner stuff with a few better things. A popular place for the local residents to gather. It's one of the many local bars and restaurants around here. This seems to be one of the better ones. Has the main dining area. While waiting for an order go check out the back with the gaming area to play slots. It's $2.50 for domestic beers. That's good. It's about $7 for appetizers. The Pretzel Bites are the best of these. Fluffy and comes with a dipping sauce, choice of beer cheese or something else. The rest of the menu features classics like breakfast including eggs, omelets, and toast, and lunch has things like burgers, fish, and pasta. For sure it's a place for locals as well as tourists looking for classic diners and grills. It's got a lot of various memorabilia. They're closed Sundays.
