I hang out with her a lot, but it wasn't until this past Saturday when I've actually worked out with her at one of her Saturday morning boot camp sessions by the beach. We've been saying we should work out together forEVER but it was usually a scheduling thing that prevented me from doing anything regular with her. Besides, I was always training for one marathon or another and when you're doing that there's very little time for other kinds of physical training (well, for me, anyway :P). Since my next half marathon training won't be starting up for a few months, I thought it'd be a great chance to check out one of her boot camp sessions. It was a great cross-training opportunity for me, since I run mostly and even when I do weights at the gym I don't really push myself all that much. Plus, it's not as expensive when you do a group class. Spring is here and it's really nice to be exercising outdoors anyway. I must say, my first workout was pretty intense--I ended up doing all the stuff I usually avoid, like lunges, push ups, running up and down stairs, etc etc. It was very challenging, which was great, but if some of the stuff gets to be too much you can totally modify to suit your fitness level. Jesika never yells or screams at you (unless you want her to) but she'll work you hard. Even though I whined and complained and got really sore from taxing some unused muscles, I'll be going back for more next week.

A few months ago I was in a bad place-I WFH and was going from being at my desk all day mentally drained to laying down with no energy and getting bad sleep day after day. I got to the studio 10-15 mins earlier than the class started and no one was around. I thought I was in the wrong place bc the sign on the studio said "piLAtes". It seemed like there was a class already going. I texted the phone number on the website for info, which I thought was strange bc the reception desk was empty. I was hoping for a face-to-face interaction, instead of texting a random number. They instead me to just walk on.
