The hallways are not heated and when no one is in the hallway, the lights go out until one steps outside their room, exits the elevator, or comes up the stairs. There is no light switch for the bathroom, which relies on ones entry, and the shower is fantastic! There is no "constant fan" option on the temperature controls and trying to maintain a particular temperature that was not too hot or too cool seemed difficult at first but worked out in the end. For a truly clean and comfortable property in the heart of Stroudsburg, I recommend The Penn Stroud!

It was my first time staying at a hotel vs staying with family, and I'd definitely consider this option again. The hotel is located right downtown, within walking distance of main streets. Staff was very pleasant at check in. My room was quite spacious and very clean. There was a couch and desk, big bathroom. They have a fitness room, but the equipment is old and some of it wasn't functioning well. They put out a good breakfast spread with actual hot food and plenty of choices. The only real off thing about my whole stay was that the morning I stayed they had omelettes that contained tiny pieces of sausage and it wasn't labeled as containing meat - which as a vegetarian I wasn't thrilled about. When I brought this up to a staff member they were a little dismissive. Beyond that one interaction though, everything here was quite nice and I'd be happy to stay here again. Actually, I'm quite excited that I have such a nice option and am going to make this a go-to whenever I need a hotel in the area. :)

Most people usually don't like to work out on vacations so hotels try to get away with putting 3 dumbbells and an elliptical in a room and claiming they offer a "gym" on their facilities. This place was much better than usual! I got a great workout in before the festivities There is also a nice indoor pool with a hot tub that my kids took full advantage of. They had a lot of fun with all the other kids at the hotel. Room was nice and spacious and there was a private balcony that led to the back of the cabin with a nice view of the woods. Only reason we didn't hit that 5 star was because of the weird layout. The rooms were at a different location from all the amenities so after we were done swimming, we kinda had to wrap up and walk in the freezing cold to the other area to reach our room. The bathroom was also kinda small Other than that, it was a great stay! The staff was super friendly and we were very comfortable.

While we are on the sink situation, the cold water tap knob spun around without turning on the actual tap - brushing teeth with hot water is not exactly a treat. At the price of $250+ for a standard suite in Stroudsburg PA I really expected a higher level of quality--- the staff we encountered were very polite and helpful which was the best part of the experience.

For instance, if your room is in the 400 section, that does not mean the fourth floor but one of the "wings." Below that is the 300 section but I think that is closed for renovations right now. The place is an eclectic mix of new elements and a sort of 1980's feel. The colors are cool and the rooms also carry over that mix of old and new. However, our room was spotless and spacious. In fact, a bit too much cleaner had been used and we needed to air out the room for a short while. We had missed the bar and restaurant but hope to make it on another trip. The staff was wonderful, kind, and helpful, and Sabrina was cool at check-in. We cannot wait to return!
