Due to my age, I would not go there again unless it was for another concert. Aside from that, the place was just ok. Old; no class. I guess I'm just beyond the crazy partying years. The bartenders were the best part of that scene. They were very attentive every time I walked up to the bar. They probably felt sorry for the straight-laced older woman, LOL, although I am a rocker! Saw Peter Murphy. Worse concert ever. Loved him in the 90's, but now he's just an old man, with a young band, playing Gothe music and doing Meth. He had the crowd chanting "Cuts you up" and didn't even do the tune after two encores. Loser in my mind. read more

Used to love strummers. I stopped going there once they hired the rude, creepy security guy with the Indiana jones looking hat. I get that he probably has to deal with a lot of rude people but he's over the top. Bad feelings before even entering the place. It's really too bad. read more

Beware! If you have a purse, they will turn you away at the door! If you have a car nearby, this won't be a problem for you. However if you took a lyft/Uber like myself, you won't be allowed in. Not to mention you'll be treat extremely poorly by the bouncer. I've never been spoken to the way their creepy AF bouncer just spoke to me and I'll never go back there. So disappointed in Strummers! Great customer service & great drinks, not the usual bar setting, good people & great environment..whether your going to watch a game or for a concert you will enjoy yourself..Bartenders treat you great & each drink is worth the $$, I take care of my bartender and every time they go ABOVE & beyond for me..I've been here multiple times & every time its a good experience, if you don't enjoy yourself at Strummers take a look at yourself. read more

The event staff are horrible people. First, they were giving my husband issues for not having his ID on him. His mistake for leaving it in his old wallet. So he had an under 21 wristband that was put on very loosely. He did not attempt to drink or go in the 21+ area, he just wanted to see the show. 10 minutes into the show, 2 very hostile event staffers got in his face, and pretty much pushed him out the door. He had lost his wristband, but didn't think it was an issue since he couldn't go to the bar area, or even go outside seeing as how people under 21 couldn't leave the venue at all. Which he definitely wasn't trying to do either. We had tickets, we were on a list showing we paid. Then one staffer was in his face with his fists clenched while my husband tried to understand why they were freaking out. One even told him "we have been watching you, we knew you were up to something. " when he did nothing but try and stand to enjoy the show. Clearly, he was a target for discrimination and we are seeking legal action if we do not get a refund. Another friend who was with us got dragged out by the event staff and physically assaulted for doing nothing but watching the show, he has the welts on his head to prove it and may also take action against the venue. Do not go here...from what I've heard from many people, this is a common thing. The event staff is known to be ridiculous and use physical and excessive force for no reason. We have talked to many people in the Fresno area who have had similar incidents and there will be a huge boycott coming soon. read more

Stopped by a few times following the year after my last review and I grew to like this place. Staff has been friendlier. Area is still a bit intimidating but seeing a show here has always been great. Parking is a bit of a hassle at times. Bar area has a good atmosphere and I've had great times with friends. Karaoke Tuesday nights are really fun! It can get a bit crowded but it's a great place to chill every once in a while. read more

So mad to be honest. I just had knee surgery and they refused to let me sit against the wall. This was a "PUNK" show and they had horrible police mentality. I've lived in Fresno my whole life and these guys used to be cool but the past like 3 years have been utterly terrible. They have the worst workers and treat you like scum. The female bartender that works Sundays is a bitch! She does not know how to handle customers in a professional way. Handled it so badly it got her drunk friends involved now I see a Law suit coming real soon. The last time I was there the bouncers harassed my friend who was doing nothing but asking to see if her cousin was inside. Management covers up for the poor staff manners. The hostess of kareeoke night SARAH should not openly initiate and argument over the mic with a customer. It is rude and unprofessional. After 2 hours of waiting and one 10 minute arrival having gone before us of course someone is bound to complain and speak up. If speaking up leads to being placed in correct order and be called next great. But if the customer is no longer comfortable and refuses to go next Sarah does not have the right to say "so you complain and after I put you in the front of the line your refuse to come up" over the mic. Like as she'd done us a huge favor. Had it been anyone else who hadn't spoken up about how she ran things and had they refused she probably would have been okay and called the next person. After a little over a year of coming here and having brought first time friends i hate to say that if she's hosting I'll no longer be returning to what use to be my one of my favorite nights there. read more

Always a great place to watch security toss belligerent souls out the front door! For its size, still a very fun venue. I see people complaining about security but they have no idea what these guys have to deal with. People vomiting on tables/floors, drunk people causing problems with other customers, drunk people throwing punches at security. Sure they are intimidating but that's cause they have to be. I've actually taken the time to talk to some of them during shows and they are pretty sweet guys. Drinks are cheap and are great to maintain a buzz. Other than that, I never had an issue with anything others are fussing about. read more

I'm giving one star because I enjoyed the show. The bartender in the restaurant is unbelievably rude and an asshole. An old friend was waiting for to order and he kept ignoring him. I desired to go get a drink and the bartender told me " I don't respond to someone waving money at me". I was completely flabbergasted because I wasn't. Another customer had to tell me it was my friend but, I should go to the other bar because he will continue to ignore me. I guess he didn't want a tip or anything. I will probably never go here again. If I did, it would be for the band. read more

Don't waste your time or money at this bar. Less than helpful staff. Extremely rude bouncers. I understand that the staff is dealing with people that are inebriated, but it's a bar and you're offering a service. Their lack of professionalism and inability to deal with a problem without escalating it further is astounding. I regret not taking other visitors comments seriously. read more

I have gone to Strummers for many years. I use to love it. I went there last night 2/7/17 for a Swayze concert and it was THEE worst experience of my entire life, AND i didn't even go inside. They decided that they were not going to let girls bring purses inside, when i asked the bouncer why they were implementing that tonight (since every time I've been here in the past it has never been implemented before) he says "I don't know, i tell them to only tell me the bare minimum, so i don't have to explain myself to you guys" uhhhhhh okay. So i proceeded to tell the guy we ubered here, so we don't really know what to do. he then asked us to step out of line. So my friends and I were standing there trying to figure out what to do and the same bouncer walks up to us again and says "did you figure out what you are going to do." and i replied "No, like I said we ubered, so we will have to uber home then back cause we don't have another option" The bouncer looked at me like I was the stupidest person in the entire world and says "you mean to tell me you don't know a single person in this area that can come get your purses for you." i replied "No, I'm from clovis, i don't know any one in the tower district." well that must of struck a nerve, he tells me I'm not allowed inside and makes it known to every single person that i had attitude and I'm just a stuck up girl from clovis. I have never been so belittled and disrespected by anyone like that in my entire life.. not just by him but we tried to talk to another bouncer thinking he'd be more reasonable and he treated my friends and i exactly the same. THE WORST SECURITY STAFF I HAVE EVER ENCOUNTERED. I work in nightlife and i know bouncers are who you want to be friends with, but these guys are complete assholes. I will stick to my clovis roots and never be a loyal strummers fan like i once was. read more

Saw a small post about Rock en Español and dragged my friends there... BAD because after waiting 20 minutes behind some nice guys who never gestured to the bartender about getting service, I did. After the bartender took other orders I asked for 2 drinks and he said I had to wait because it was not my turn and others were waiting longer. Not true. He told me I should go to the outside bar because he was not tending to me. He kept insisting I leave even as I stood there watching him make other drinks. I felt the Security Guard who had been watching me the entire time I waited would have empathy on me and made my way over to him to complain. He said he was hard of hearing because he was deaf in one ear and asked if I wanted to make a formal complaint. I trusted him and followed him but when we got to the entry door of the bar he told the 3 security guards there that I was not allowed back in and he ran back inside. I was not roudy, drunk or cocky to receive this service. This is a bar/club but the opportunity to provide feedback should be there no matter what. TERRIBLE that a place like this feels it has the right to treat people this way. NO STARS but has to post 1 to share experience. read more
