Everything looked amazing. Lots of fresh, local produce. Several local purveyors were present, too, such as Texas Olive Ranch and CKC Farms Goat Cheese. Everyone was happy to speak with you about their goods. There was even brick oven pizza made on the spot. We ordered a peach, yes, peach and goat cheese pizza along with a margarita pizza to accompany our fresh figs, blackberries, bread, peach & chipotle goat cheese and aged balsamic vinegar...all from the farmers' market. I could easily have added more, but we won't have room to transport it all home when we leave town. They have live music, too, which was very pleasant. Smiles abounded everywhere and you couldn't find a stranger.

On our visit there was a beer vendor, wine tasting along with a traveling pizza oven making pizzas. This is not a big farmers market and there were just over a dozen vendors. Four of them were cooking up food. Plenty of picnic tables to sit at in the same park that hosts the annual October fest. They even had a folk singing duo which added to the ambience.

The market has multiple tomato types, peppers, peaches, okra, cantaloupe, and flowers. They will be growing lots of berries and different flowers in the up coming months. If you can make it to this market, you won't be disappointed. This spot feels much more personal than the tourist stands on the side of the road. Friendly dog on site as well.

It's got lots of picnic tables for sitting and eating. There is a perfect balance of produce, ready made food, and handmade items. Notable Vendors: -The Thai Street Food stall is amazing. -There is a lady that comes and brings her adorable knitted stuffed animals! -A vendor selling dumplings we definitely want to try next time! -A stand making fresh lemonade that my BF said was the best lemonade he has ever had. Every time we head up to the lake house in LBJ we make a point to come here on Sunday. We load a cooler to take back home with us! Our main stops are: 1. Capital City Ceviche - they make Hawaiian poke just like back home in Hawaii. Since moving to Texas, that was something we haven't been able to find that is good. But here.....OMG the best! 2. JW Seafood - specifically when in season, the fresh oysters are amazing! 3. Prairie's Prairies- they have quality French pastries and baked goods. We love their scones, croissants, and their puffs....oh yum! 4. Goodie Dumplings- They make them fresh on site or have frozen to take home. They have everything from veggie, chicken, beef, pork, and seafood! This are so good. It is usually a snack while we walk around and then we take some to go to add to our ramen at home. They add a lot of vendors throughout the year which is fun! They have craft items as well which we have even bought a few items from those booths as well. We've been regulars for 3 years now…read more Since this is the TX Hill Country, it's easier to grow meat than veggies. ;) But, some wonderful veggie growers come in from the surrounding areas where the soil is naturally deeper. Usually there are 2-6 veggie vendors, depending on the season (more veggies available in the spring, early summer, and mid to late fall, and not so much in the heat of summer, which is with the local seasons). There are probably 4-8 meat vendors each week; they are usually more predictable as the weather doesn't affect their products as much: everything from beef, chicken, lamb, seafood, bison, and sometimes pork. Also eggs and milk. All sorts of specialty food and other vendors cycle through, probably 5-15 vendors per week, from bakeries, to dried fruit, from honey, soaps, jewelry, ginger root beer, ethnic foods, to the Hays County Master Gardeners, the Wild Bird Store, and more. We love the wonderful family friendly ambience with musicians serenading us while we shop, kind and patient fellow customers, and knowledgable vendors. I learn something new every time I come. One of the highlights of our week! Check it out. As noted, because of the TX heat and rain, occasionally the location will be changed to Ranch Park with inclement weather, while during the heat of the summer, the market always shifts to it's summer schedule of 9-12. Brilliant if you ask me. No one wants to shop in the afternoon of the dead of summer! The rest of the year the market is in the afternoon, from 3-6pm.

There are local musicians playing live music every week. It's well run and managed. Get there when they open for the best selections. They do run out of things, so if you arrive in the last 30 minutes, some vendors may be sold out. Also, produce is seasonal, so it's not the market's fault if some types of produce aren't available in the months when it doesn't grow. I love being able to support local farmers and businesses. I do wish they'd move it back to Founders Park, but it's understandable that it may not be possible.

Small number of vendors overall not sure how compared to normal. Had a few craft vendors and seafood and meat sales. Majority of vendors seemed to have jarred goods such as jellies, butters, cukes and the like. I was a little disappointed at the lack of fresh fruit and veggies. Literally only one vendor that had any fresh veggies and the selection was quite sparse. We got there about 1030 and they open at 9 so possible things got picked over but unlikely. Will have to try another time and see if selection is better. Definitely worth a stop if in the area on a Saturday

Samples galore- today I got 2 different types of Mediterranean bread, one of which was a heavier almost chewy bread called fateer,( flat bread) they served with honey but delicious just on its own! These goodies are made by a cute little couple who owns ZooZoo's Sweet Treats. If you like sweet, their baklava was awesome! They had samples for everything which I absolutely love as I buy from samples. I will be back!

We were just coming through on our way to a funeral in Kingsland so we passed it on the way and made a point of being sure we came back that way so we could stop! I can't wait to taste my purchases. It was quite evident that about two out of every three customers were repeat as they knew Keith and he knew them by name! I bought stonewall peaches, a nice basket of freshly picked green beans, fresh ears of corn, and beautiful slicing tomatoes (Oh yes, great tomato sandwiches with either mayo or miracle whip coming right up!) I also got one of the Mason County sweet cantaloupes. The watermelon looked awesome but not sure who I could share it with so did not get it this time. Hoping they are still in season when we return! Keith Lee Mills is the owner operator and evidently quite often on site helping customers with their purchases. My gosh he even helped me to the car with mine! I'll be adding pictures of my purchases as soon as I am able to photograph them properly.
