    Bratwurst Plate
    Esme N.

On a rainy Sunday, we stopped in for lunch. There was about a 15 minute wait for a table, but once we were seated, our food was out quickly. I liked my bratwurst plate, but the brats were just a little dry. My husband really enjoyed his Jägerschnitzel, especially with the red cabbage. I ate about half my plate and saved the rest for later and it was NOT good reheated, so I recommend sharing a plate if you have a small appetite. We also got some items from the bakery to take home. Our families absolutely loved the danishes. I didn't really enjoy the meringue, I thought they were a little stale, but everything else was tasty!

We came in for breakfast line was not that long so we got lucky. We did get some pastries before we sat down and boy am I glad we did cause by the time we finished eating a lot of them were gone. We were a group of 6 had a little wait prob like 15-20 min so not bad. Inside is small but food is worth is it. I got the country Benedict's they were good and a half order of the French toast and boy the best I've ever had. Others got eggs Benedict and biscuit and gravy.

Upon arriving in Fredericksburg, we were hungry and very ready to eat a heart breakfast. The Old German Bakery was exactly what I needed. The interior is small and welcoming and our server was warm and extremely helpful. I appreciated her recommendations and tips for ordering. I had the Opa's breakfast and it was great. The sausage, eggs and hash browns really hit the spot and my substation of a waffle instead of the biscuit satisfied my sweet tooth. I really liked that our server recommended me getting the jam on the side as I ended up not wanting to use it and solely used the syrup. Highly recommend to give this place a try !

The food was really good and the portions were huge and worth the money! We had Rebeca as our waitress and she was amazing, she even gave me a dessert for my birthday and was very attentive. When we arrived, the entire place was packed and there was a long line to get in but we only had to wait 30 minutes to be seated and it went by fairly quickly. Would definitely recommend this place to try and would return the next time I am in Fredericksburg!

Stopped by Old German Bakery and Restaurant in Fredericksburg for a late breakfast, and overall, it was a lovely experience. We tried a variety of dishes: pancakes, scrambled eggs, a veggie omelet, and two types of crepes: the apricot (which is one of their popular picks) and the Nutella. Out of everything, the Nutella crepe stood out the most and hard to go wrong with. The apricot crepe, while highly recommended by others, didn't quite hit the mark for me. It just lacked that balance of flavor I was hoping for. The rest of the breakfast staples eggs, omelet, and pancakes were solid and satisfying, nothing mind-blowing but definitely enjoyable. What really makes this place shine is the ambience and location, right on Main Street, with views of the charming boutiques and shops around. The service was warm and attentive too.

Loved it! It's been a few years since we've eaten here. We arrived about 9:15 am on a Friday and there was a line outside. Fortunately, they take names and there are 2 benches to sit on. Our wait was about 15 minutes. Once we were called in, we were seated right away and our drink order was taken and delivered. We were seated in front of the entry door and the fan system above the door was blowing cold air on us. Our server, Lisa was amazing and offered to move us to a table in back, near the restrooms. Except for the restroom traffic, this location was perfect for us. Thank you Lisa! My wife and I each ordered a breakfast plus a German pancake to be brought out later. We had: - Country Benedict - Opa's Sausage Breakfast Both were excellent. I asked for my eggs to be soft scrambled eggs and that's what I got :) We ate about half our meals and packed the rest up for breakfast tomorrow. We were too full for the German pancake, so we asked Lisa to not place the kitchen order. When we paid at the counter, we ordered a sweet bakery treat to go. Thank you Old Herman Bakery and Restaurant and Lisa for a great meal with great service.

My first stop in Fredericksburg was obviously at the old German Bakery. It's a well preserved decades old architecture in the Main Street can't definitely be missed. We came during a long weekend and the wait time was 35 minutes. With all the hype, the wait time was totally acceptable. Once we got the table, we could see the ambiance has been well preserved as well and haven't modernized and loved that part. My order: Nutella banana crepe German pancake Cheese omelette Veggie omelette with biscuit Apricot crepe My favorite was the apricot crepe and it's something that I haven't tried before. Nutella banana crepe is something that could never go wrong. The omelette were well cooked. The veggies sautéed well. Love the amalgamation of the eggs and cheese and veggies. To top it off , the biscuits weren't dry nor hard. German pancake with maple syrup was something new that I hadn't tried before and it was different and way from the regular American pancakes. It had powdered sugar on top of it. Bakery was almost sold out so couldn't try their cookies and pastries.

Great place for breakfast or lunch especially on a Tuesday when the lines are shorter and they have reduced priced bread and pastries. I usually get the ham sandwich but everything is good and the portions are big. Reasonable prices. Servers are friendly.

Amazing!!! My advice is go early!!! Before the lines!!! Tried German Pancakes for the first time, so good! Definitely try it with lemon and powdered sugar I will have to come back and get some baked goods.

This is the second visit to this place and probably one of the reasons why I will continue coming to Fredericksburg. It's always full of patrons and doesn't seem to slow down. The staff is very attentive, helpful, and friendly so please be kind to them. It's a very laid back and chill vibe type of place. The decor has some pictures of old Germany and inside has country feel to it. In my opinion, they have the best sauerkraut I've tasted out of 15 plus brands that I've already tried. It's slightly sweet but still has that vinegar bite to it. The mustard by itself was delicious and compliments the sausage very nicely. The hash browns were crispy and had a great flavor. The eggs and biscuit were like any other typical restaurant's. On the Belgian plate the German sausage patty was good tasting but could've used a bit of seasoning or salt. The waffle was very delicious. It was light, fluffy, soft, and tasted great. If you enjoy sauerkraut, you must definitely try this establishment and if you don't you still need to give it a try!

Very busy and popular restaurant with a large line. They serve some standard breakfast items like eggs, bacon, biscuits and more. They have a few German inspired dishes like pancakes and sausages. I tried the Oma's plate with eggs sausage and a pancake. It was very good. They have some breads and pastries for sale too that you can order at a separate counter. It's not an authentic German restaurant. If you're expecting that, it's really an American restaurant. I'm glad we went it was a good choice.l and a cozy spot.

ChatGPT raved about Sunset Grill, so we hopped in the car and zoomed down. Upon arriving, we walked into the cramped restaurant, and we were greeted by a nice hostess. She put our name on a list, and we had a brief 5-10 minute wait before we were seated. We were handed menus and left to peruse the menu. After a brief wait, we were greeted by our waiter and he took our drinks. In good time the waiter was back with drinks and he took our order. I ordered a bacon and cheese omelette. It came with potatoes and toast. The wife ordered the plate with eggs over easy, crispy bacon, and potatoes. The wife and I sat and had a nice visit. We should not have drank our drinks so fast, as they stayed empty the entire time we visited. Our waiter not once made eye contact so we could get a refill either. After an average wait time, our food came. Our waiter noticed the drinks and then refilled them. My omelette was undercooked and watery, the cheese was not melted, and the bacon was chewy. Furthermore, the toast was also very dry. I would have gotten butter to put on them, but the waiter never came back to check on us. The wife's eggs were cooked over hard, the bacon was rubbery, and very underwhelming. Our drinks went empty and we never got refills, again. We paid the bill and went shopping. I was glad to get out of there. I had high hopes for this place based on the reviews, but I think they missed the mark here. ChatGPT did me dirty on this one. I don't know if they just were having a bad day, or what the deal was, but this was a one and done for me. I cannot say I recommend this one. I was very disappointed.

I was very excited to write this review about the positive experience and I had here. In my images, I showcase a beautiful French omelette. It is so easy for people to get omelettes wrong and overcook them until they are a rubbery mess. But mine was very soft, decadent, and fluffy with a very beautiful balance of all flavors present in the dish. I also appreciated the salad that came with it because I think starting the day off with some fiber is very healthy for the body. In the past, I've had the steak and eggs and it was one of the most delicious things I've ever eaten. But when I came to visit on this specific day, they were out and happily recommended the omelettes instead. It can get crowded, but I don't agree with the reviews here that say the restaurant gets too loud. Let's be honest. Fredericksburg has a certain type of demographic and at times I feel they are unfairly nitpicky to the local businesses. When the restaurant is crowded, it's lively and full of smiling faces and servers who are eager to serve and make sure that you enjoy your meal. Restaurant was also clean on our visit and the restrooms were well taken care of. I can't wait to come again for breakfast!

Absolutely stellar food, quality ingredients and great flavors. We had leftovers for sure, lol, something to eat on the drive back to DFW the next day. For dinner, we sat outside and had Jess as our server. She was also really nice, she had quite a few tables and still managed to give us plenty of attention. We had carnitas nachos and the ground beef soup. The carnitas nachos are... unnecessarily large. lol Luckily the soup bowl was very small so I was able to help the boyfriend with some nachos. But my small effort was not enough and he tapped out of the nachos at the halfway mark. Highly recommend the nachos if you have four friends with you. =D This was a great restaurant with a lovely outdoor space. Vibe is euro-bistro and the staff is perfectly attentive. Prices are high, but honestly aligned to the quality of the food, at least the dishes we had were worth the prices. Food: Buttermilk Fried Chicken, with Onion/Bacon flash fried collard greens, whipped potatoes and house gravy and Jalapeno Cornbread for $32 Reuben on Marble Rye for $24 16oz Stella Artois for $10 We agreed that the fried chicken (5/5) was the best we could remember having. Whipped potatoes (5/5) were light, fluffy and perfect taste/texture. The gravy was like brown butter (5/5). The collard greens (5/5) were flash fried and if you've never had them like this, it's like eating collard green potato chips. Cornbread (3/4) was a bit too delicate and sweet for our taste. You couldn't pick it up without it falling apart. The Ruben (3/5). My wife loves a good Ruben sandwich. This one had the makings of a good one, but they use a Thousand Island sauce (too much of it) on the sandwich, and it hides the flavor of the meat. Next time we would ask for the sandwich without the TI sauce, see if that improves the rating. The sandwich came with house made potato chips (5/5), a small house salad with vinaigrette (5/5) and a large, pickled cucumber. I know, that's a pickle, but these are cucumbers that have gone maybe a third of the way through the process, so the cucumber taste is really prevalent. Lastly, we had the Creme Brulé (3/5) for dessert. It was nice, but the custard was coffee and caramel flavored, and we prefer the standard custard look and flavor. The caramel should come from the top layer, not the custard. The top layer was a bit too thick as well. We liked it, just didn't love it. Overall, quality food, service and vibe with prices that are aligned to more special occasions than everyday eating out. We'll be back to try the Monday Crawfish Etoufee and the Tuesday Duck Confit daily specials...look too good to pass up.

Unfortunately, this experience felt less like a restaurant opening and more like a dress rehearsal no one stopped. First problem: location confusion. We went to what turned out to be their second spot--which, crucially, was not called Nurys on the sign. Same ownership, new space, old identity crisis. Walking in felt like entering a building that hadn't yet decided what it wanted to be when it grew up. The lingering aroma? A strange duet of fish, antiseptic, and industrial cleaning agents. Not hunger-inducing. More "urgent care with a fryer." There was no one there, which made sense--it was between brunch and lunch--but somehow the wait for food felt disproportionately long for what arrived. What arrived, sadly, was mediocrity wearing a Tex-Mex costume. They seemed to be aiming for Tex-Mex but landed somewhere closer to Tex-Flex--stretching flavors thin until they snapped. The barbacoa was fatty in a way that suggested less "slow-cooked tradition" and more "glistening regret." It didn't taste authentic, or even especially intentional. Just heavy. The guacamole--perhaps the most unforgivable offense--was bad. Guacamole is avocados, salt, lime, and love. That's it. This had none of the above. The waitstaff wasn't rude, exactly--just possessed by the clear energy of people who would prefer you to finish quickly so they could resume their real lives. Hospitality should feel like an invitation, not a countdown. Now, maybe the original Nurys is wonderful. I hope it is. But if that's the case, why open a second location only to phone it in? Expansion should mean excellence multiplied, not care divided. There are too many good places in Fredericksburg doing things right to settle for something half-hearted. This one wasn't terrible--it was worse. It was forgettable. And that's the real disappointment.
