South Texas popcorn, chocolate covered strawberry, and jalapeño peanut brittle
    Ellen E.

This place is such a gem in the hill country with some truly amazing chocolate and sweets. We originally tried the jalapeño peanut brittle at another winery as a pairing and we immediately bought multiple bags and made it a point to check out hill country chocolates actual store on our next trip. They will offer you a sample when you come in, and you can either do a tasting or just do some shopping there. These chocolates are elite and are priced accordingly. The owner came out and talked to every table while we were there and provided Us with additional samples. Everything was delicious with amazing flavors. They do have wine you can try here too, but this is an amazing non drinking option when in the area.

The greeter was waiting on us as we arrived & sat us promptly & explained everything in detail. The downstairs was cute & they also had a display of several items to purchase & I wanted to buy it all. However, let's get to the reason we came...chocolate tasting: what gorgeous chocolates, almost too pretty to eat. Dan McCoy, the owner made an appearance & kindly brought us chocolate covered strawberries, chocolate covered marshmallows, & jalapeno peanut brittle. I failed to snap a pic. We also got to taste their jalapeno peanut brittle & the caramel popcorn. I had their Lambrusco & the hubs paired with Pinot Noir. Highly recommend visiting & everyone in town seems to know & like Dan as well & several of the Main Street establishments sale his chocolates as well but visiting their establishment was a treat!

Whenever we go on vacation anywhere I always google, "best chocolate in ___" and make a point to put that on our itinerary. I was not expecting to find such an upscale chocolate boutique in Fredericksburg, TX but boy was I delighted! The storefront is about a 10 minute drive from the town center and we popped in on Saturday afternoon on our way back from a winery. Upon entering the staff asked if it was our first time and when we told her yes she said they would bring out some chocolate to sample. The chocolatier himself brought out a little board of chocolates for us to sample. Dan was so friendly and enthusiastic about his products answering any questions we had and bringing out additional samples of things he thought we might like. We ended up buying a box of truffles and bonbons to take home with us along with a couple of the macarons. Truly impressed with the service and selection and will recommend to any friends heading to Fredericksburg.

This was our second time but what an amazing experience! We started with an amazing sampler of chocolate mousse - light, fluffy, and full of yumminess! Hard to believe it only got better from here! The chocolatier, Dan, provides top notch service and education. The chocolates were all amazing and the artistry was incredible. Loved the jalapeño brittle, the Texas popcorn, and the peach truffle! Heck! We loved it all! We will be back!!!

My small group signed up for the Factory Floor Chocolate and Wine Tasting Experience as part of a team bonding activity. Dan did a wonderful job enlightening us on all things chocolate and how this business came to be. We learned a lot and really enjoyed helping to make the chocolate-covered caramel and the caramel popcorn. Afterward, we had a very nice time sipping wine and enjoying the charcuterie boards upstairs. And the icing on the cake was being able to take home some of the caramels and popcorn we helped make! This was a really nice time and I recommend it.

    Samples!!! Amazing

Amazing. The best chocolate shop I've ever been to in Texas and one of the very best in the world for sure. I'm telling you every visit to Fredrickberg is not complete without a visit here. You have to come to their tasting. It is top notch! They chocolatier Dan is thoughtful in his mixtures if chocolate and adds unexpectedly interesting flavors that make this chocolate lover rejoice. They offer amazingly generous samples, wine, champagne. He ever asked us what our dietary restrictions or allergies were before he gave us the samples.

Super nice people. Super good chocolate. And honestly we spent a full evening trying wines in town but this is where we actually found something we wanted to buy as far as wine. Thank you for a great customer experience.

Bourbon whiskey truffles, dark chocolate pecan butter toffee and dark "bean to bar" chocolate bar. YUM!

First time at Vaudeville. Vibe is euro-bistro and the staff is perfectly attentive. Prices are high, but honestly aligned to the quality of the food, at least the dishes we had were worth the prices. Food: Buttermilk Fried Chicken, with Onion/Bacon flash fried collard greens, whipped potatoes and house gravy and Jalapeno Cornbread for $32 Reuben on Marble Rye for $24 16oz Stella Artois for $10 We agreed that the fried chicken (5/5) was the best we could remember having. Whipped potatoes (5/5) were light, fluffy and perfect taste/texture. The gravy was like brown butter (5/5). The collard greens (5/5) were flash fried and if you've never had them like this, it's like eating collard green potato chips. Cornbread (3/4) was a bit too delicate and sweet for our taste. You couldn't pick it up without it falling apart. The Ruben (3/5). My wife loves a good Ruben sandwich. This one had the makings of a good one, but they use a Thousand Island sauce (too much of it) on the sandwich, and it hides the flavor of the meat. Next time we would ask for the sandwich without the TI sauce, see if that improves the rating. The sandwich came with house made potato chips (5/5), a small house salad with vinaigrette (5/5) and a large, pickled cucumber. I know, that's a pickle, but these are cucumbers that have gone maybe a third of the way through the process, so the cucumber taste is really prevalent. Lastly, we had the Creme Brulé (3/5) for dessert. It was nice, but the custard was coffee and caramel flavored, and we prefer the standard custard look and flavor. The caramel should come from the top layer, not the custard. The top layer was a bit too thick as well. We liked it, just didn't love it. Overall, quality food, service and vibe with prices that are aligned to more special occasions than everyday eating out. We'll be back to try the Monday Crawfish Etoufee and the Tuesday Duck Confit daily specials...look too good to pass up.

Not only was it the first restaurant to show up on Yelp (very highly rated), but also it was OPEN. While it may have been an accident that we chose Otto's, it was a lucky break. They were awesome. It was very busy, so we had to eat on the patio, but our table had plenty of shade and a nice breeze from a wall fan. It's a block off the main drag, so you don't have to put up with lots of traffic going by. The staff was friendly and helpful. The food didn't take too long to come out. The selections were fairly extensive. The food quality, portion sizes and flavor were spot on. We also highly recommend the Black Forest cake.

It's great the way it is, and trying to make it fancy doesn't make it better. But I've always thought that if a restaurant has only a few options on its menu, they had better all be great, and I didn't find that to be the case at Otto's. One of us had the schnitzel au gratin, which seemed more to be like a chicken Parmesan. I had the duck schnitzel. I would say they were just both OK. The fried potatoes that came with the au gratin schnitzel were left largely untouched on my companion's plate. There wasn't much flavor to my red cabbage, and my spaetzel seemed to be more like a modern day risotto. And this at a restaurant that makes you leave your credit card for a reservation and threatens to charge if you cancel less than 24 hours before. For that, it had better knock my socks off. But my socks are still on, and they won't be walking back to Otto's. Extra star for the great location.
