The gym offers both group fitness classes and individual training sessions, all of which include various exercises and equipment. Workouts are fun and vary per targeted muscle group. It'll be hard to find two workouts completely alike. I joined this gym shortly after being cleared for physical activity post liver donation surgery. In my time off I had lost all muscle and strength and was nervous to go back to the gym. Needless to say I could barely do a plank. Within just 16 wks I felt back to normal and stronger than I had been before my surgery.

It was a very fun and accepting environment and the instructor was very nice. For a first class, it was pretty easy to get comfortable with the bungee. It's a challenge for your core to hold yourself up but your stomach in some moves, but it's honestly really fun so you barely notice. It's a little more expensive than some other fitness classes, but really cool to do once in a while to change it up. Check it out!

Most of the equipment and machines are a bit dated, but certainly get the job done. The staff and gym goers were always pleasant. Worth noting that it wasn't usually overly busy, so I rarely found myself waiting for a bench or machine. Membership prices are comparable to the Y, and they offer a wide variety of classes and trainers if that's your thing.

The only bench in there is a smith machine and there is no chance for flat benches because the surgery suite is below. There are several Eleiko bars for some super quiet deadlifting if you are so inclined. There are several 45s in the gym with a bunch of bumper plates kn the back if you ask. Cardio: treadmills (which overlook Albany), ellipticals, upright and recumbent exercise bikes, 2 stair masters, Jacobs ladder exercise machine. Water fountain also has a place for fast filling water bottles. There are changing areas on the side and each of the bathrooms have showers.

The door to the center is located next to the Prescription counter at Hannaford. it's the one at 900 Central Avenue. It's free to join and most of the classes are free as well. The programs are underwritten by Hannaford supermarkets, CDPHP and the YMCA. It's brilliant. By keeping people healthy we can reduce the staggering costs of medical care and health insurance claims. There are also free courses on healthy eating run by Hannaford nutritionist Fran Weiss. You'll find the staff very supportive. The classes are fun. The majority of members are seniors, but they make everyone feel welcome. If this is a template for fitness, I hope more centers like this one will spring up across the region!

To get started with your free (yes, free) membership, just bring in an ID and the person at the front desk will get you all set up and ready to begin your fitness journey. The gym itself has some resistance based machines (If you've ever been to Curves, think of that) if you would like to work on strength and several choices for cardio, including a bike, treadmills, ellipticals, and a rowing machine. And, don't worry; the people working there will help set you up on any of those machines. If doing your own thing isn't your cup of tea, the Healthy Living Center also offers many classes throughout the day and evening, some free and some paid. You can check their schedule on the website and sign up 2 weeks before a class beginning at 8am for the free classes (they clearly label the paid, more advanced classes, which are often around $7/class - so very reasonable). There are spin classes, zumba, HIIT, circuit classes, urban fit, and more. Options are also available for personal training (fee). Instructors are great at providing modifications in classes so that all ability levels are able to participate. The reason I've been a member here for more than three years is partially the amazing instructors, like Regina, but also the amazing community of members the Healthy Living Center has attracted. You'll be welcomed and supported; you'll also find yourself among a diverse client base. People of all races, sizes, ages, and ability levels use the gym here. I honestly can't say enough positive things about this beloved little gym and, guys, it's free - you have absolutely nothing to lose by checking it out.

We had an issue, yes, the post office misplaced the goods for about 10 days. Fiternity refused to help me solve the problem, wouldn't meet me in the middle at all. Then when the item finally showed up, it was way too big, and Blake's wife sent a scathing email calling me an "epic" customer because I didn't understand the sizing information on their website. On the website it says "unisex" sizing, but the order confirmation said "women's small". So which was right? No customer should be called names, EVER. Can't recommend these people at all. They may be athletes, who knows, but business people they are not.
