This review is a few years late, but I wanted to detail my positive experience with Jung. Before moving back to California two years ago, Jung has transformed my look with the Korean perm. Jung begins with a clean scissor cut and then utilized scalp treatment to protect my hair from the perm. Given the delivery of the final look, it is clear that Jung is very experienced and her input on what fit my face gave me the reassurance that I needed with changing my hairstyle. I stumbled upon this place through some searching on Yelp and saw the great reviews so I thought to give it a try! I called Ms. Kim a few hours before she closed hoping for an open spot. She was cutting someone's hair at the moment but was very accommodating and said she will give me a call back after she was done. Shortly after, she said one of her clients were able to come in a bit earlier and that she could squeeze me in on the same day! I was so thankful because most salons require appointments and are usually booked out for weeks! My initial hair was very long and pretty flat. I asked for a wolf cut with some see through/curtain bangs. I showed her some pictures and she got to cutting my hair. She gave me some advice on how to style it afterwards and even complimented my bleaching job even though I did it at home with some uneven spots lol. Ms. Kim was very detail-oriented and made sure I was ok with the length and the cut at multiple intervals throughout the appointment. She styled my hair at the end and taught me how to do it at home as well! She was extremely friendly and the environment was very cozy with pictures of other clients with their new haircuts on the wall. I had a ton of hair but she made sure to sweep up everything along the way to keep the area clean! Overall I loveeeee the haircut! She gave me exactly what I asked for and did not cut my bangs too short , which I experience a lot while going to other salons. This was a long awaited transformation! I got denied by another salon for this request but it had to be fate because when I found Jung Kim I knew she could help me make this a reality. I've always struggled to find a barber or salon who can cut my hair to fit my face/head shape and work around the cowlick on the top back of my head. Last year, I made an impulse decision to get a wavy perm, which is how I found Jung here on Yelp. After the consultation, she did her magic and I came home to surprise my then-fiancée with a fresh new look that she adored. I was a regular client of this shop, but I will NEVER be returning to this hair stylist. I was treated with utter disrespect by Jung Kim. Not only was I treated with disrespect, after I told her I would be leaving a review of her attitude, she threatened me with "You will also contact my lawyer first." I wonder how many other people were intimidated by her and did not review. Crazy. Here's what happened. I texted the business phone number as listed on Yelp outside of business hours hoping to get a response when her shop does open. I sent a couple pictures and 1 question about getting an appointment date. She responds roughly 8 hours later during her business hours anyways and lectures me about texting outside of it like she's my mom telling me what I can and cannot do. I put up with her attitude and assured her I understand and will keep her business hours in mind. That should be the end of it right? No. She keeps texting me passive aggressively about "common sense." Common sense should tell her she should not use her PERSONAL phone number as the OFFICIAL BUSINESS phone number and to not harass her customer. I contacted her BUSINESS phone number for a business reason, not for fun. She threatens to cancel my appointment. I don't respond. Forty minutes later, I get more text messages about her cancelling my appointment and how I should further apologize. Is one apology not enough? When I told her I would write a review of my experience, she tells me what I am doing is "Threats, obstruction of business, and contempt." She frankly does not care about a customer's experience nor does she care about being a professional. I am more than happy to share the text message conversation she had with me. I've only been to Jung Kim, I think, twice? Her mannerism is super polite and genuine, but what's even better is her skill when it comes to styling hair. The quality of her haircuts are stunning! My last appointment with her was September 2023, and it is now Feb 2024 (5 months going 6) and the loose wavy perm I requested from her is still holding up and is as beautiful as ever! I'm in Canada now, I have been through horrendous winters freezing my hair, AND I NEVER curl my hair, mostly because I don't know how...but it's unnecessary because of the work Jung Kim put into my perm.
