I went to Studio 55 Hair Salon today after reading the reviews! I live in North Carolina, but also have a beach house in the area! I called and left a message for Noelle because if the rave reviews and she returned call within the hour and was able to see me the next day promptly. I did have to wait about 15 min. for services, but I can understand they run behind occasionally so I was patient. Noelle was friendly, patient and very personable. After reviewing the photos ofstyles of cuts I showed her on my phone she proceeds to give me a treatment of gloss and then cut and blow dry hair. I was pleased with cut, but not blown away. It was basically same cut I came in with and not a new and exciting style I had hoped to leave with! I was happy but just ok. Salon was definitely about a 3, not upscale at all to me. It's in a strip mall, no luxuries to speak of! Cut was 55, gloss 25 tip 10! In and out! $ 90 about 45 minutes! Four stars! My husband was disappointed! We were looking for that. On vacation and found this salon for my MIL. MIL has super straight, jet black, healthy hair with damaged ends. She wanted my hair - damaged, dyed blonde and so unhealthy. Go figure! The stylist gave her realistic expectations and provided a nice cut. It certainly was not ever going to look like my hair, but I think she did a nice job adding long layers and cutting off the damaged ends. The stylist listened, gave an honest assessment of what to expect, and provided a nice haircut. It's a cute, clean salon. I wanted a mani while she got a haircut, but the mani person wasn't there that day. I found that a lot when trying to find a salon to do both services. Will I be back? Oh yeahhhhh. As per usual, I was really nervous about trying a new hair salon. We will be moving here permanently soon and I've been searching for a new hair salon each time we visit and I believe I have found my forever home. I made an appointment for a wash and style with Nicole during a vacation in Myrtle beach. I arrived few minutes early for my 2.00 PM appointment and waited over half an hour for Nicole to see me. After I complained about the wait time she took me without apologizing and started to blow dry my hair without asking me anything about my hair or preferences. She was done in less than fifteen minutes and again without checking to see if I was satisfied, left to see another client. Her assistant , Kiki who washed my hair and was lot more courteous and professional offered to add finishing touches and check me out. I will not go back or recommend this salon. read more

I had a personal horrible experience that I hope No one ever ever has to go through. I just got married Aug 14 and had appointments for myself and 4 other people to get my hair done at this salon. I already had my trial run prior and everything went great and I was so happy. The day of my wedding I show up to NO ONE present and no one ever showed up. I had to frantically call around while stressing on my own wedding day as I was the bride and try and find somewhere open on a Sunday. I also had to do my own makeup because where we ended up going doesn't do makeup services. I am very irritated and cannot believe that this happened. Save yourself the stress and worry and never book for a wedding here. The worst of it is, I didn't even hear from or get a hold of someone for 2 weeks. Just got my hair cut and colored by Nicole. We are visiting this area again and I need my hair done bad. She is so kind and friendly and very knowledgeable!!! My hair feels so healthy BUT!!!!! Little pricy from what I am used to. 145.00 plus 20% tip She was doing 3 of us at the same time Did my color great but my cut was way too short. DO NOT GO HERE. I made an appointment for today at 11am, arrived at the salon just before then and doors were locked, lights out. Exterior is dingy, I expect more from a beauty salon. Called the owner (I'm guessing) and thankfully she picked up, told me she'd be there in 10 minutes. She did show up a little more than 10 minutes later but I had already made another appointment at a salon for tomorrow where they assured me they would actually be there when I arrived. I drove away as she was unlocking the doors. If you're the owner and you're reading this--you have a business that I'm guessing you'd like to keep. Don't treat customers like this. Don't waste their time. Don't waste my time. Open your store when you say it's going to be open. It's common sense customer service. Unless you're in a position to afford keeping your store open regardless of your shitty customer service, you may want to reevaluate your current business practices. Very sweet stylists . Had about a 20 minute wait before being seen as a walk-in. Was told it's always best to make an appointment to avoid long waits. Shop very open but somewhat crowded. I would prefer more privacy when I am with a stylist. One stylist did my shampoo- had to ask to use fingertips instead of fingernails on my tender scalp- ouch! Another stylist did my blow dry and style- turned out okay but a little too much product used - preventing the movement that I like for my hair to have. All in all, the stylists are very kind, somewhat more talkative than necessary- . A man, the owner of the shop, came in to clean while the stylists were working- he was clearly intent on getting the place clean and nothing else. The prices seemed to be on par with most other shops in the area. If I could give them zero stars I would. If you are traveling from out of town and need your hair done for an event this is NOT the place to go. I picked them because being out of town I wasn't sure where to go they were the only place with decent reviews and pictures that I could see. I started talking to them about doing my hair in July for my wedding on September 30, I also confirmed my appointment with them in September. I showed up Saturday the 30th to get my hair done and not a soul was at the shop the doors were locked the lights were off no one had even been there. I then messaged the shop and the girl that was supposed to do my hair no one even sent me an apology back or an explanation. Thankfully a lady at hypnotic hair salon got me in and got my hair done in time to make it to my wedding a few minutes late. I was new to the area and was nervous about going to a new person. I should have followed my gut instinct because over two months later I am still dealing with the damage done to my hair! The first problem was that my foils were orange, not blonde, so she re-did them. Two bleach processes in one day fried my hair and I have to get deep conditioning treatments weekly to repair the damage. I have lots of breakage because of this and can't use any more bleach for a very long time. The second problem was that she put the dark brown not only on my hair, but on my face along the hairline and did not use any barrier cream. My face was stained for several days and I ended up with scabbing around the hairline from the chemical burn and from her trying to scrub it off. She got behind because she had to re-do my foils, so she half ass blow dried me and let me leave looking a frizzy hot mess. To top it all off, she charged me a ridiculous price that included a charge for a haircut even though she barely trimmed up my neckline (I wanted to grow out a bob). This was the WORST experience I have ever had going to a salon!!!! read more
