We attended the Tish & Gomez Skate Oddity event for Valentine's Day. I am not a regular skater so it takes me awhile to get my balance and beginner's routine going on the cement rink. You have first timers and experts rolling around the rink. It's all fun with the gloomy dark atmosphere and the DJ playing mostly goth and post punk music. We Burbankers don't like to brag, but we're a city of parks. Twenty-seven! This one's a large park with a big parking lot, street parking galore, and a great playground area for kids who you 'might' be trying to tire out. Also a huge skate park with roller hockey. What a cool park! And there certainly aren't too many cool playgrounds in LA. Most are run down with broken slides and equipment in disrepair. This park is truly a gem. My kids hardly care about the park anymore but they haven't stopped mentioning returning for more fun! The park has bathroom access and the bathrooms were clean. The park is great and the slides are great for kids! But they are too steep for people in their 40s that are forced to go down slides with their kids. I really had to use my shoes to slow down myself. There are also really great climbing obstacles for kids who have the strength and do not have arthritis in their knees. My only real complaint of this park is that it felt electric to play here. It was shocking to see that on the other side of the giant wall is a huge power plant. The recommended distance from high voltage lines is 200 meters. Houses that are 200 meters or more from a high voltage power line usually have typical radiation levels that have insignificant effects on human beings. You can live within the 50 meters limit for low voltage lines and still be safe from harmful radiation. This power plant is like 10 meters away... so I guess it's ok because the land was probably cheap but tested (even though the only tests being done are funded by the people that would lose if the study had any negative effects). I'm just glad I don't live here... but if the price was right I would rather have a house next to power plants/lines than pay too much for my small apartment. This playground was pretty busy when we visited on a weekday. Quite a bit of families and a younger crowd were picnicking on the grass directly in front. Leashed dogs were everywhere, too. The coolest part is definitely the large play structure! My 2 year old had a blast going down the biggest slide with me. She did need complete supervision since it requires a lot of climbing and there were a lot of older kids zooming past her. The rest of the play structure is way too advanced for her. There's also a much smaller toddler play area right next to it, but she wasn't interested. We will be returning just to go down the big slide together! She could do this all day! Another weekend, another kid's birthday party in another great park. Ralph Foy Park is a big public park on Victory Boulevard in Burbank. We took our toddler to an 8th birthday bash and it was a nice spot for both toddler playtime and an older kid's party. There was a ton of green space for kids to run around and play. Our party took over a few long tables where the adults sat and caught up as the children rampaged. The table was big enough to hold all of us as well as cake, balloons, and other miscellaneous party gear. There was a face painter/balloon artist, as well as a piñata on a nearby tree. Our kid is still a little young to appreciate entertainment for 8-year-olds (though he loved the chocolate cake), but he had a great time at Ralph Foy Park, just roaming around and beelining to the playground whenever we let him. He was too small to take advantage of most of the equipment, but he was awed by the big slides and really enjoyed walking around the play structure. He also loved the proximity to the Burbank Airport, which brought the added bonus of frequent plane spotting. If we lived closer to Burbank, this would be a regular destination for our family, and I would be happy to go back for more kid festivities. read more

Cool park, loved that they had a skate rink, I've been looking for some around. The park was for the most part pretty clean and parking was ok. I had to drive down towards the neighborhood to get some parking. But no worries. It was also pretty well lit during the evening and all the neighborhood families seem to be there till night fall with their kids. Cute little park. read more

This review is based on a visit with my two kiddos -- ages 5 and 8. Went relatively early on a Sunday morning and had the entire playground to ourselves. My kids are incredibly active / athletic, so I'm always looking for ways for them to burn off energy. Ralph Foy Park definitely fits the bill for us. My younger one is very into "ninja training", and this park offers lots of unique climbing equipment that I haven't seen at any other parks. There's a large tower-like space for them to hang out in (shaded, which would be great on warmer, sunny days), and lots of massive slides (again, definitely geared towards older kids). The park still has sand, as opposed to rubber flooring or wood chips, like most parks in the Los Angeles Metro, which I really appreciate. It gives another play option, especially if you're bringing along younger kiddos who may not be able utilize all of the play structures. (There is one smaller play structure off to the side that could work for toddler-age children, so they're not completely shut out of options here. It would actually be a nice spot if you're looking for an option for kids across a broader age range.) There are lots of lovely trees which provide some shade + loveliness. There's one tree in particular that sits back behind the play area that is the perfect "climbing tree", even for new climbers. Parking was simple and free, at least on the Sunday morning when we visited. I imagine it could get crowded if there was an event or something going on, or if it was a high-volume time of day, but it wasn't an issue for us. Overall -- a pretty straightforward park, but one that ends up being a stand out if you're looking for a spot for older kiddos. read more

The best all in one park in Burbank. Ralph Foy Park recently renovated the structures and added a huge play structure and upgraded the restrooms. This is the only park in Burbank that has a hockey roller blade rink. The park also has a large baseball and football field for league play. The renovated play structure tower for the kids offers up mega slides ,swing sets and sand box play area for toddlers,with spongy ground areas for safety. The play area has plenty of seats and shaded areas for picnics. Unfortunately, this park just has a few tables scattered around. I'm currently going through a Covid-safe craze of playing catch... I even provide an extra glove to the lucky catch partner! It keeps you even more than six feet apart, gets you to spend time outdoors and is obviously exercise (did you know a game of catch can burn up to 250 calories?!). This obsession of mine (I love baseball) means I've been spending more time in some of my favorite parks and discovering new ones. Which is how Ralph Foy Park came into the picture. You've surely driven past Ralph Foy Park a million times as it can't be missed near the Victory/Hollywood Way intersection in the Burbank/North Hollywood cusp. At least, I know I have. Located next door to the Northwest Branch of the Burbank Library System (they even share a parking lot); Ralph Foy Park features a hockey rink where leagues are often spotted playing, baseball fields, adult exercise equipment, a playground for children and some picnic tables. The park is large in the sense that it houses these facilities but not THAT large in the everyday/greenery aspect. It isn't 'small' but the focus of the plot of land is obviously on league play. The word on the streets is that the bathrooms on the property have recently been upgraded and the swanky playground you're looking at? Also, new. And it IS a damn cool playground: modern, child-safe and with really neat apparatus details that are much more complex than a standard slide and swings. The park also offers very large trees with ample shade and some rolling greens which is great for a game of catch. But the major deterrent that truly ruins the whole park? It has an awful overwhelming stench of cat litter and uric acid. Or is it ammonia? Either way, my catch partner said it smells like a zoo and like animal fecal matter. No matter where we walked; we could smell it (perhaps we were upwind?). It is just terrible. In fact, something overall about the park is unwelcoming and uncomfortable. Not sure why so many reviews are raving about Ralph Foy Park. A note during Covid and the 2020 way of life: The library is closed and thus so is the parking lot. Street parking is free and not difficult to find but give yourself an extra few minutes for this. For those wondering who Ralph Foy is: please let me know when you figure it out because my research unearthed absolutely nothing. Who are/were you, Ralph?! Honestly, there isn't anything about Ralph Foy Park that sticks out. I understand leagues using the fields/hockey rink and the playground IS snazzy for the kiddos; but there are wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy better parks nearby and in the rest of Burbank (so many that I used an intense amount of y's). I wouldn't really recommend Ralph Foy for a picnic or a walk. Actually, I wouldn't suggest it for anything at all and the stench is hugely appalling. Skip Ralph Foy Park! read more

Update on the restroom: In my previous review, I have mentioned how I dread going to the restroom in this park. The stalls were open and there were no toilet paper, toilet seat cover, paper towel and even soap. I usually bring my dogs here for a short walk so there's no need for me to use the restroom. Today, I decided to stay longer than usual hoping to lose some weight gained from too much eating out (mostly for Yelp purposes). Yeah, I stayed long enough that I needed to use the restroom. I was prepared for the inevitable but lo and behold! The restroom had been renovated. It has new floor and wall tiles, stainless bowls, doors and sinks, and yes, all the supplies needed are provided. What a sigh of relief! I'm still holding off one star though because of the outdoor gym. It's under the heat of the sun. I was planning to do some workout to burn some calories but I'm not planning to burn my skin. read more

Probably one of the best parks in Burbank. The new playground equipment is more for bigger kids since it has huge slides that I haven't seen at other parks. There is also an area for smaller kids/toddlers which my son enjoyed. However, there is still sand as opposed to the rubber flooring that other parks have adopted. I personally prefer that over sand. There is a lot of sitting room around the playground but not many tables if you take food to eat there. Parking def sucks. There is a small parking lot along Victory Blvd. So for the most park you have to get lucky to find a spot. Otherwise, park on the street. I'll most likely keep bringing my son here as he grows to enjoy the big slides and climbing courses. If you have kids over 6, I recommend this playground.. read more

This is not the grandest of parks but it's close. One large sandbox. Two sections. One for toddlers with 4 slides ranging in size. Shaped in a pirate ship motif inclusive of the Captain's wheel. There are rollers that have a bunny, horse and cow that the little ones love to match up. There's a few parts with a spongy ground which is great for little ones still trying to learn how to walk, crawl or decide if they like sand or not. There are also a few large plastic dinosaur animals for the kids to climb on. The older kids play set has a spiral tube slide. Monkey bars. A bridge and climbing ladder. There are swing sets for kids of all ages and 2 baby seat swings. We had our granddaughter in them at 3 months and still to this day she loves them! There is also a rope wall. Not hugely popular but it's something different. As with most modern parks this one is made of the durable plastic. Surrounded by sand and some spongy ground surface. I'm not a fan of the hump slides. They seem appealing but really scare most kids and they are not comfortable to slide down for any age. If it's hot out the play sets are scalding hot. Bring a towel in the summer and spray bottles to cool down if your kids are wearing shorts. The swings won't send you flying..and the slides won't make you feel like you're soaring across the park like the parks of my generation... but the park does fit the "politically correct, eco-friendly, mommy approved" lifestyle of Burbank. There are a few benches and tables. But if you're looking to have a party you better contact park and rec or get there super early to save a place as they go fast! Parking is pretty ample. There is a private lot near library and 2 others near the baseball fields and street parking. It's next to a roller hockey rink and 2 big baseball diamonds. (Both need prior permission to use). There is almost always an ice cream truck. So bring a few dollars to avoid the argument with your young ones. Most ice creams are $2. One great bonus is that the park is right next to the Burbank library. So cool off and calm down before heading home with a comfy beanbag and a children's book after playing at the park. read more

My kids absolutely love this part. It has so many things I have never seen in a public park before. Too bad they didnt have this sort of park when I was a kid! The skyway walkways are super cool. This park is great for giving the kids plenty of exercise. It is definitely more for bigger kids... 4 years and up. Downside is that there's often bigger kids visiting. Not always fun for the 4/5 year old kiddos when the big kids (9 years and up. Even seen teens there) are there. read more

What a great park awesome jungle gym for older kids and there is another section for the younger ones. Overall it was clean trash cans weren't over flowing, there was a can of soda and water bottle in the sand but it looked like it was being used as sand toys. There was only 1 regular swing & then another "baby/toddler" swing. There seemed to be something missing maybe the tire swing? I'm not sure since this was my first visit. I would recommend this park and will be going back since my kids plagues for 3+ hours. read more

Found this park by accident and what a find! It had a lot of really cool climbing equipment for older older kids and a smaller one for the babies. I also love the big enclosed slides they are very steep and very fun. They also have a swing that an adult and a kid can be on at the same time and beautiful views of the mountains. There's a lot of open grass for picnics and picnic tables for parties. The ground has a mix of sand and also rubber flooring. 10/10 would come again!!! read more

Alright. Coming here was a really really bad idea. Yes, the playground is very new. It's got huge slides and climbing equipment. Definitely catered toward older children. The baby play area was ok as well. Now, let's talk about the individuals at this park. This was a very unsavory crowd. Terrifying, truly. There was a mother that was yelling the following statement at her child (word for word), "I will sock you in the face the next time you do that gay sh*t." My jaw dropped. Her kid must have been about 8. A few seconds later another kid was cursing like a sailor at the swing. There were also other very "interesting" people there (for lack of a better word). I felt incredibly unsafe. No exaggeration. Oh yeah, someone brought their pit bull too. I'm sure it was a nice pup, but don't bring it to the playground. The restrooms were down. You have to use a portable toilet that they have set up in the middle of the park. It was disgusting. As you can imagine. If I never returned to this park it would still be too soon. read more

This park was recently renovated and the new structures are HUGE and awesome. The three big slides are the tallest I've ever seen at a public park and although we live within walking distance to a couple other good parks, we get in the car and go out of our way to come here with our thrill-seeking 4 year old. I REALLY wish it was fenced-in because with how tall the structures are it's easy to lose sight of your kid and there are several different routes they can choose once they're up top. This is a better than decent park. Parking is great. The play ground is separated from the lot by a nice stretch of grass with tons of pretty shade trees. I've come here before simply to picnic with my kids on the way to or from home. The playground has nice sized play structures with many slide options and accommodates a range of ages. However, the shade is minimal with zero shade sails or trees over it. It will be empty on a very hot day. The children there tend to be a bit older and on the rowdy side for my little guys. I also don't care for the fact that there is a power plant directly behind or what appears to be large transistors buzzing behind a wall just next to the swings. What's that about? I don't know. But, it sort of creeps me out. There's a huge grassy field and a new baseball diamond as well a roller hockey field which makes for good entertainment. read more

I go out of the way to take my kids to this park. At the playground they have a pirate ship structure with slides & on the other side they have a fort structure with slides & monkey bars. They also have colorful dinosaurs kids can climb onto & pretend to ride & of course they have swings - 2 for smaller kids & 2 for older kids. they have a huge baseball diamond, outdoor hockey area, & big grassy area with loads of trees for shade. Only complaint I have is the restrooms don't have doors on the stalls so you'll have to stand watch when & if your kid has to go. right next door is the library. it's nice & small. if you are there when it is open stop on in. read more

This is a great place to take young or old. This is a hockey roller blade park where games are held. There is. Burbank public library right next to it. Has plenty of shade to stay cool. The disappointment I have is only the hockey player side is on and the swings park is off it is sad but they need to fix that whether they now or not they need to fix the issue. read more

The big slides are awesome for bigger kids. They have a S M and L sections for kids. NO bathroom on Sundays only porta-potty's and the other days you can use the library. Play ground is new but was made with sand to walk/run on, only some areas have cushion. Good place to grill, BYO chairs/blankets, and bring lots of water. read more
