Studio G's hairstylist, Ashley P., is the best in the biz. She is an amazing stylist and colorist, and I'm never disappointed when I leave her. My color is always amazing, and my highlights are always perfect. She's also extremely friendly, personable, and a true professional. She makes you feel like you've known her for years! Went in to get color and trim and I definitely didn't get what I paid for. Came out with a decent color but bad bangs and an ok style. I usually come out of the hairdresser feeling like a million bucks but I didn't even feel like the $200 I paid for it. I would not recommend and am still searching for that perfect stylist in the area. read more

This little, out-of-the-way shop is the definition of an amazing salon. The staff works together to create a welcoming, relaxing environment where you are treated like a princess (or prince!) during your service! I came in for the first time for a hair cut, and was immediately greeted, and offered a free beverage. I didn't wait long before a lovely young lady took me to the back to shampoo my hair and included a lovely head and neck massage while talking with me about makeup. My stylist, Jenna, took the time to have an in-depth consultation to really understand what it was I was looking for. Her attitude was fun, and we had a great conversation while she transformed my look from frazzled to fantastic! They even offer a free makeup-touch-up with Bare Minerals makeup after your cut is done. I love the makeup! I did not choose to get my makeup touched up because I don't like sharing brushes, but Jenna did assure me they are all sanitized each night. My only suggestion is to sanitize them between customers, because acne can spread from face oils. However, not many salons offer such a great service. Jenna explained to me how to get my hair to look like she made it look at home, using the tools I had (she didn't try to push new styling tools on me!) and the products they use are FABULOUS! I recommend the Paul Mitchell Tea Tree brand Lemon Sage thickening spray. I also love the Eufora Details dry spray wax to finish the edges of my hair and give it a wispy detailed look. The ladies made sure to schedule me for my next appointment before I left, offering a 10% discount on my next service for doing so. I just had my hair done by Jena on Tuesday. She did a wonderful job! She took time to find out what I wanted and asked me questions about my hair. I had a partial foil and cut. I couldn't be more happy. The color turned out perfect. I will definitely be going back to Jena!! read more

Studio G Pros: open availability within a day or two, clean salon, great selection of products for sale Cons: On the spendy side, a little gossipy, stylists overbooked Now let me clarify my cons because I don't typically leave bad reviews. I spent over $150 for a cut, balayage that only framed my face (she did not touch the rest of my hair), and an eyebrow wax. At most this should have cost me $75 for what was actually done. My stylist was clearly overbooked the day I arrived because she saw me 10 minutes late, then I sat in the chair for 15 minutes while she finished shampooing another client's hair. When it was my turn, it took over an hour for her to dye my hair because she couldn't find foil, nor a cape, and had other stylists asking for her every 15 minutes. She ended up not dying all of my hair for the balayge (which I didn't understand), and she instead colored the hair around my face. While that color looked great, she missed about half an inch of my hair towards my roots, and I went to a ball wearing hair that looked 5 weeks grown out because it wasn't even close to my roots. I was then charged for a full balayage upon checkout. In addition to the waiting time at the beginning during the dying session, I waited for 10 minutes to get my hair shampooed and conditioned after dying while laying in the uncomfortable wash chair because she was cutting a man's hair. After my shampooing and conditioning (while I sat in the chair), my stylist went to seat her next customer and started foiling her hair while I waited with wet hair to get my eyebrows done which took another 10-15 minutes. I also spent over 40 minutes under the heater because she forgot about me with her two other clients. Overall, my stylist was really sweet, but she was just overbooked and obviously stressed about finishing everyone. I don't know if this lead to getting a subpar hair dye or not, but I was very disappointed. I spent over 3.5 hours in the salon that day, and I left with hair I was very unhappy with. I LOVE this place. I was in serious need of a haircut, however, I was skeptical after a string of bad cuts. ABBY did a phenomenal job and was so open and honest through my consultation. I was a customer when they first opened several years ago. I had moved away and when I returned I wanted a good stylist, but not too pricey. I had bounced around a few times and then found a good stylist, but not too long after the prices went really high. I wasn't happy, but still had not changed until one day, last minute decision, my daughter wanted to get her hair colored. No one had an opening, because it was prom weekend. We stopped at Studio G as a last minute hope they took walk in's and also had an opening on that busy weekend. They did and the price was amazing! I started going there and am still amazed at how much cheaper they are AND the service is fantastic. I became a regular of Mariah's and she is fabulous. My daughter (who doesn't get her hair done as often as I do) has had different stylist and they have all been great for her as well. Mariah did my daughters hair and makeup for homecoming and she looked fantastic!! Mariah always explains what she is doing and what products she uses and doesn't put pressure on me about purchasing anything. For this I appreciate Studio G and will continue to go there and would recommend them to everyone!! read more

My hair hasn't been cut in over a year and it was most definitely very over due for one and was searching around on the Internet for a salon to go to and I chose Studio G Salon based off of the reviews from yelp. I called to schedule a same day appointment and didn't mind who I was scheduled with due to the fact many names were mentioned in the reviews on yelp I was sure everyone that works there must be great. I was scheduled with Jacy. She was very friendly and accommodating. She helped with cutting enough off my hair to be able to donate it. Simple cut with long layers and she did a great job and I would recommend her to others! read more

How has this place been here for so I long and I have just found it! I've had my hair cut/colored by a many many people in my 40+ years, all in the Stafford/Fredericksburg area, and I just had the best salon experience of my life with Abby at Studio G. Abby was the first stylist to do exactly what I wanted! When I first arrived she took her time in asking me what I was looking to obtain. I showed her pictures, told her what I liked and disliked and she was very knowledgeable about every aspect of hair. My hair is perfectly how I always imagined it could be! The color is amazing, absolutely perfect. And I have never seen a stylist be so connected and work a pair of shears the way Abby does. A total artist! The size of this salon is perfect. Unlike others where you feel you are being hearded around like cattle, Studio G makes you feel very very special. I literally felt like I was being pampered verses just getting my hair done. I received the best scalp message during my shampoo. And when my service was over Abby said they offer complementary make up touch ups and would I like one. Wow! read more

After a year in Stafford, I finally found a great salon!

I needed a change and my BFF told me about Studio G. I was nervous going to someone and somewhere new UNTIL Jena K greeted me as her new client. As soon as I sat in her chair I was relaxed and excited about this new experience. After 5 minutes talking to her I knew I was in good hands. We changed up my color and it was perfect the cut was awesome...and the shampoo was to die for.....I have never looked back.. this was the worst experience I have had getting my hair done. i even gave her a picture of what I wanted. the color was not even close , when I said I did not think it was looking right, she said that's why we turn you away from the mirror. now I will have to go spend more money to get it fixed. it is so bad I don, t want any one to see me. read more
