I organized a staff event here and we had a great time! It's BYOB and you can order delivery because they don't serve food. The staff offered us, plates, napkins, ice buckets, etc. There's a jukebox and a cute selfie machine. We enjoyed corn hole and giant jenga, as well. The only difference between this establishment and another that I've been visited is that here the staff did not stay with us the entire time. This could be a pro or a con depending on the group. Went there for a corporate outing with 20 co-workers. The staff was not engaging. The equipment was in terrible condition. The hatches were so dull they wouldn't stick it the hard wood targets if you were standing next to them trying to chop them. Staff tried to wet the targets but it didn't help. Others in the group who had done this before at other places said they had a good experience getting hatchets to stick with targets that were end grain boards. These were not. Basically they were reconfigured wooden pallets. The hatchets were in terrible condition (handles & blades). We tried to do a tournament but no one could get the hatchets to stick even somewhat consistently. What a disappointment. Make the staff do a demo and show you that the hatchet can actually stick before you waste your money. read more

Came here for a work event. Fun!! You're allowed to bring in beer and wine, NO for safety reasons. They don't sell food but you can bring food IN! You're given instructions for how to throw and etc. That only took maybe 10 mins. We had a 2 hour time limit. 4 stars because some of our team members came late at 540 instead of 515p and the ppl upfront said that was fine, it didn't pose an issue for us to start later when everyone got there (there was literally flooding in the area). So when we got back to the axe throwing area, we were still held at the 515-715p time limit (even tho no one else was throwing at all). We were able to drink and chat in our area even after 715. It's in the Old Towson movie theatre, right at the intersection. You can park in the garage (not sure of the price) or on the street ($2 an hour until 6pm, then it's free) Awesome time, I would come back! read more

A group of us came on a whim at 11pm on a Saturday night and had no problem getting right in. We didn't realize it was BYOB but were told there was a liquor store just around the corner and they provided a discount coupon for it :) It was defiantly more challenging than I anticipated but all of the staff were super helpful and patient. This spot is open during covid and take extreme precautions by sanitizing everything between players/groups. I have been ace throwing at many different places but no place treats me more like family than Stumpy's. I've been here several times since it isn't too far from where I live. It is BYOB and BYOFood!!! The instructors are nice, and check in on you to make sure everyone is okay and having fun. They used to have some more non axe related mini games placed through the facility that I hope they bring back once the pandemic is over! read more

I went to Stumpy's for a recent date night and had a great time! It was just the 2 of us but we got our own lane with 2 boards. I've been to another ace throwing place before for larger events and they had a staff member with you the full time to instruct and organize competitions. At Stumpy's they give you a brief intro and safety briefing and then wander around the floor and you can stop them if you have questions. I wish they had stayed with us for the first couple of throws but understand that's hard with larger groups. Sadly the boards were pretty banged up which made it harder to get the axes to stay, so maybe they can swap out slightly more often. Overall a great date night and decent priced! read more

My second time going axe throwing, but my first time coming here. My friend and I came here on Friday for a girl's night out and had such a great time. The staff was very friendly and chill which made the experience even better. At the end we were even able to test out these new, lightweight hawkeye axes that they had just gotten in. They don't serve alcohol here, but you are able to bring your own beer and wine, but they do charge for buckets of ice. The setup is very nice with two boards in each section so that we could throw our axes at the same time. Each area also had a couch or chairs and tables. They have touch tunes that you can use to choose a song, but you do have to pay for it, so we opted to just listen to the music that was already playing. I only wish that the A/C would have been on more as it got pretty hot inside while axe throwing. Overall a great experience and we will definitely be coming back! read more

I agree with a previous post, the staff were more interested in their phones than engaging with customers. My daughter and I visited at noon on a Saturday and there was only one other couple, the boards in the other couple's area were so worn you couldn't see the target lines. Our axe handles were sticky and worn and needed to be wrapped, when I mentioned this to a staff all I was given was an excuse that they wear out weekly. On the reservation form they ask what's the occasion and I explained we were celebrating my daughter's birthday, well that was a waste of time, they didn't even mention it. This place could use more fun opportunities like a funny photo prop area! read more

terrible experience! we drove 40 minutes and left after 15. the axes were so dull that we couldn't get the axes in the board standing next to it and hitting the board. Our boards were dry to the touch and dryed out. The employee told us they were running out of wood. The employee could barely get the axe to stick and told us we didn't need to throw hard, yet when he demonstrated, threw like an MLB player and it still didn't go in. 3 of the 4 of us didn't get an axe to stick even one time. waste of money. read more

Absolutely loved it here!! First time going to an ace throwing place and I definitely recommend stumpys! Me and 3 others got an hour of axe throwing because we thought we would get bored with it but it was very fun and such a cool thing to try. It's like a workout! They let you byob or wine and have sofas and chairs to sit on to just chill. The two employees who worked there and taught us how to throw the axe and the safety of it, were so hospitable and kind! They set up corn hole for us that we got to play and even had jenga set up. Great place to check out if your in Towson! read more

Visited on Saturday for my boyfriends birthday and it was a great experience. Little difficult to find from the parking garage but once we got there it was amazing! I went with a group of four my first time and really enjoyed the atmosphere and getting my frustrations out on the boards. It was easy to learn and byob was a plus. We went to Stumpy''s in Towson to celebrate our 5 yr Anniversary because we were looking for something fun to do considering Covid restrictions and had a great time!. Malik was awesome, he provided great instruction and was extremely personable. All the staff was great, welcoming and the setup of our BYOB fantastic. I'd recommend this spot for a date night, girl's night out or group night out to get out of the house. Everything was clean, sanitizers setup at each station and the overall environment was a great way to spend a couple hours.
