We visited Stockholm during the summer, when they have their annual crayfish festival. Attempting to recreate our crayfish extravaganza we had last year and being unable to remember the restaurant, we chose this place as a second contender. We had a simple meal of toasted bread with chanterelles and one kg of crayfish. The chanterelles were tasty and the crayfish was spot on!! The food was great. We had two starters, and shared the turbot for main course. It was perfectly done and the side dish was both crisp and citrussy. We chose a Chablis white wine, that the waiter recommended. Good match. The place was full, literally packed. Note to self - get the skagen (shrimp piled on toast) next time I'm here. Luckily I was able to steal a bite off my dinner-mates. This place lives and breathes seafood - but there are non-seafood items if you insist. The portions are huge so I don't know how everyone manages a starter, a main, and a dessert - but the food is good so I don't blame them. Be warned - the complimentary crunchy flat breads and the roe cream served with it are delicious. If you don't watch yourself, you will fill up on this and not be able to enjoy the even more wonderful meal! This place can be rather pricey...but again, this is Stockholm. I had lunch here and I was really impressed. When you arrive they serve a large variety of crispy breads, yum. I started with the lobster soup which was delicious (maybe then best I've ever had). I then had the shrimp salad with avocado, eggs, tomatoes and cucumber. It was so good...and they didn't spare on the shrimp. Service was excellent. I'd love to come back here for dinner sometime too. read more

It tries hard to be different and comes up short. Hated the house Chardonnay which was awful. I rate this place very average with pricing above average so no wonder I give it a 2. In all fairness we had lunch here and it fell short. Not sure what dinner might be like. There are 2 great places near by called Zinc and Riche which for the same money, are much better places. This is for sure a local crowd and the after-work scene on the patio was lively. It was amazing out so I waited like 30mins for a table on the patio. Staff was really friendly and engaging, the food was tremendous and the cadence of the meal was perfect. Best restaurant in Stockholm. I love this place and wish I could eat every meal here. Nice upscale surrounding with high-end clientele and food. On my latest visit to Stockholm, I decided to check out Sturehof. When I was living in Stockholm some years ago, I sometimes was at Obaren, the bar upstairs, but was rarely ever at the actual Sturehof restaurant. Obviously, this is not the place to get cheap food, but the meatballs I had were very tasty and the vine was good as well. Altogether a great experience with good food. Had dinner here on a Tuesday night. A reservation is a must, and I understand why. We ordered oysters and when they served us they forgot half of the order. We had to ask for it again but at first they didn't want to as they said we got what we had ordered. It was easy to count the oysters though and that's when they realised they were wrong. The cod is fantastic, especially with the Hollandaise! The fries that come with their moules are delicious and next time I want to try the "Mälargös." The cheese platter was a great way of ending the very nice dinner. The food was amazing but the service wasn't perfect (a few more things happened like not getting enough glasses of water, no refill of water unless we asked for it, etc), which is why I give a 4 instead of a 5. read more

The food was fine but overshadowed by bad service. Our waitress didn't check on us once after placing the initial order, had to ask for basics like milk for coffee. Considering the wine is $20 USD per glass, you would think they would want you to order seconds! I was pretty disappointed. The setting was pleasant and fairly noisy with all the tables packed. Service was pretty good. The food was seafood mostly in a Swedish style. I had fried herring with mashed potato. The presentation was poor with the potato served in a separate bowl. There was nothing else on the plate other than the herring, which was bony and overcooked. The house wine was a bit sour. The vanilla pudding was tasty but unimaginative. It was quite expensive at 475 kronar for the appetizer entree dessert and wine (about $70 US dollars). read more

We were here today and was a bit early for our reserve time but the host for the outside area was kind enough to give us a table while having a champagne outside.Then she also suggested if we would like to seat close to the wall before our meal comes so won't feel the wind that much while having dinner. She was right we were much comfortable closer to the wall and we had a fantastic time especially having an awesome services by the host and servers. Main course was salmon char for me and fired perch for my date. Both the appetizer and mains were excellent Service was exceptional as well. We were never rushed. Dropped in here for lunch today and was seated promptly. The place was pretty packed considering it was Friday around 1 pm. We ordered skagen toast and crab bisque for apps and I had the poached cod with horseradish and bearnaise sauce on the side. My friend had the fried herring that came with a side of potatoes and lingonberries. Skagen toast was pretty filling and was definitely a generous portion. My poached cod seemed a bit overcooked. I would've preferred it to be a little more tender and delicate. I like it when I put my fork into it and it just gently falls apart. Although I love bearnaise sauce I think it just made the meal slightly more heavy and hearty. The fried herring was wayyy too fried for my comfort! It looked like deep fried toast. My friend didn't mind it but if it was my order I probably would not be too happy. It didn't really have much flavor to it. It is coasting on its longtime status as a central party place and meeting point for Swedish b-list celebrities, business people, tourists and weekend revellers (similar vibe and style to NYC's Meatpacking area). Perfunctory but passable food, lackluster and slow service, with a too high price tag. Most people seem to come for the scene though. read more

Situated on Stureplan square, it feels inside like you're on a cruise ship (the outfits of the staff more than the décor). There's a seafood theme to the menu. I spent 225 SEK on a very large pot of mussels (moules mariniere). They were good, and primarily made up of smaller mussels, and so far less gritty than is often the case with this dish. For dessert I enjoyed Tiramisu. It was punchy and strongly flavoured with coffee and in addition to the usual layers, it had a layer of grated bitter dark chocolate on the top. This added a lovely texture that stopped it from being like a mousse. There was an accompaniment of cloud berries. I tried the berries, but left the rest (commented on later by the waiter in curiosity) as I felt that they were uneccessarily tart. I could understand having them to offset the sweetness of the tiramisu but I had chosen the tiramisu for the sweetness, and so consequently didn't need the distraction. All in all, a good restaurant that also contains a couple of bars. It appears to attract an older crowd to the restaurant, possibly due to the price, but younger people in the bars. read more

The service, atmosphere and especially the food was the best we had in Stockholm. We waited until our last night to dine here. Came here last night. I couldn't get a booking but a local told us to turn up at the bar and wait. It's a noisy, happening place with lots of very good looking people; a place to be seen. It's busy, friendly and bar service was good while we waited for the table. The Maitre d' came to find us when it was ready. He too was friendly and came to check that we were having a good time later. The crowd is mostly young and hip, but there were some families too. We shared the carpaccio to start. It was unencumbered by mustard sauce and the beef was able to speak for itself. I asked the waiter for recommendation and he mentioned the salt cod. When in Sweden etc, so I gave it a go. The cod was very fresh but the saltiness was not really for me. Nothing wrong with the way the dish was presented or tasted otherwise. My friend had the salmon which she pronounced to be 'gorgeous'. Firstly, this is a high four stars, the wifey and I had a very good experience. We arrived an hour early for our reservation and spent it sitting at the bar, where we ordered appetizers. Their selection of sill and strömming (herring, essentially) is pretty awesome and the selection of snaps (more or less traditionally flavored shots of aquavit) very impressive, including a few they make themselves. Very good crisp breads to go with it. If I wrote a review for that part alone, a rather easy five stars. The actual dining experience was also very good, just not as good. We both have fish (seafood is obviously their main thing) and were happy with what we got. The wine selection is a bit weird: a fine selection but much of the variety comes from keeping tons of vintages and varietals from a few wine makers. The Chablis we settled for was very good. Service was fine but not stellar. Very mixed company at the tables around us: several diners like us, but also people appearing to be out for a bar round and being somewhat noisy. Perhaps an effect of our late-hour reservation. One of the reasons this is not a five-star review: the ladies room was unexpectedly bad, for example, out of toilet paper. A clear area of potential improvement. Anyway, a place certainly worth visiting if you stay in the area, especially the bar. read more

In addition to the dining room, they have at least two bars, and it can be quite a party scene.
