I am so sad to be the downer in this group of great reviews but I must express how unhappy I am. I was in desperate need to fix my hair after a series of lightening the ends. Cindy consulted with me text prior to setting an appointment to determine. I just wanted to chop off the dead ends and bring my hair back to my natural hair color. I wanted to keep as much length as possible with soft layers in a U shape. Cindy is a very nice lady and kept me entertained while she worked on my hair. I have a hard head and can handle practically any pressure but I felt she was pretty rough on my hair when she was coloring it. While she was cutting my hair, I felt some hesitation from her as if she wasn't sure what she was doing. Another client came in during my hair cut and I felt as if she was rushed. The end result? While I got the color I wanted, I was horrified with my haircut. I could FEEL it was crooked - one side was much lighter than the other. The next day, I asked a co-worker to take a picture of my hair from the back which confirmed how crooked it was. I wish I could say the same as these other yelpers but I unfortunately did not have the same experience... not for $145 read more

So, I've been wearing my curly hair curly for a zillion years. After growing it out my entire pregnancy, I decided that I was ready for something new. Something drastic. Something non-soccer mom. Cynthia gave me an amazing new look, and I absolutely love my hair. I LOVE IT. She chopped off a good 8 inches, gave me bangs, gave me texture, gave me a really sexy non-soccer mom look. I came in with a couple of pictures and she tailored the cut to fit my face shape. She has a lot of experience under her belt and it shows. And the best part about it? She didn't flinch once when I told her I was tired of wearing my hair curly. I don't know how many stylists have tried to talk me out of wearing it straight and how many times I gave in. I always like giving stylist the opportunity to show me what they are about and how they can look at me and decide what would look good. Cynthia, Styles by Cyn, did just that and was absolutely great! She chose great colors and direction of colors that I had never even thought of and it fits my complexion and personality perfectly. Cynthia is an amazing stylist! She has cut my hair into a long shag before and now a stacked A-line bob and I've absolutely loved both! When I was looking for a new hair dresser, I wanted to find someone who knew what a 'trim' was and someone who would actually listen and plan my trims and colors based on the mess I had on my hair at the time and what I wanted to accomplish. I had used 2 male hairdressers before and both failed to give me what I wanted. After finding her on Yelp through a Google search, I immediately became comfortable with her as she listened to my history and plans. In addition to her sparkly personality, she is a very smart girl who knows what she is doing and will tell you straight up if something needs to be adjusted on your hair. Her fees are reasonable and she has been very good to me with rescheduling appointments. She is in the Oak Lawn area in the beautiful Select Salon building and is very close to the Uptown area. She is by far the BEST hairdresser I have been to and I HIGHLY recommend her to anyone looking for an amazing person who knows what she is doing. read more

WOW! Cynthia is AMAZING!! I was in dire need of a change but was really nervous about letting somebody touch my hair. I am SOO glad that I found Cynthia because she really knows what she is doing. Cynthia is the BEST! She went out of her way on a SUNDAY to come in and fix a Groupon murder of my hair that occurred the day prior. I have very light natural blonde hair -- used a Groupon for a cut and partial highlight -- ended up walking out of a well-known local salon with hair three shades darker. Devastated. Ruined natural blonde hair. Unbelievable. Called Cynthia, in tears, and she rushed into the salon to work her magic.... and magic it was. Left 2 hours later with my hair back and my sanity in check. Couldn't recommend her more. I absolutely love getting the Goddess treatment from Cynthia! After showing up with my mop, Cynthia used her artistry to take her time giving me a very professional, stylized cut. Loved the scalp massage with tea tree oil! Also noted: the salon cozy and comfy and clean, and parking is very accessible.
